Do you do the daily?
Ouch… You are missing out on some serious loot. Dailies give your monthly allocation of laurels so you can buy ascended trinkets. Also give mats for crafting legendary and ascended. Its pretty much free stuff, completing daily take about 15 mins
I didn’t used to until they became the only guaranteed method of aquiring Spirit Shards. Now I they are the first thing I do after logging in if I intend to play for any amount of time.

I think you’re referring to Login Rewards, not dailies. The only bonus to doing dailies is the aformentioned Spirit Shards and bonus Mystic Coins if you do the Mystic Forge daily. Otherwise the Daily Rewards are just extra crafting mats, XP scrolls and karma sips.

Just switched. I just do the sPVP dailys: advance in the pvp reward track > get dem l00tz > complete collections.
I get the daily log-in rewards (which are awesome) but I don’t bother with the daily achievements. I already have like 600 spirit shards kicking around and nothing to do with them, so I’m really not that interested in another 3 per day. Some of the individual achievement chests are kinda nice, but they still aren’t better than grinding the Silverwastes or as much fun as running a dungeon path.
How to Condi Reaper on a budget
Everything I say is only in reference to PvE and WvW.
I tend to do the pvp ones these days. Super easy and you get the reward tracks.
I do them. The mats are very nice, you always get some T6 ones. They are easy, and rewards are rewards. You never know when something might become very useful, especially with the expansion and all the new crafting coming.
I do them every day. Usually takes me 10-15 minutes.
I play normally; not too worried about achievement points.
The old system was so much better and offered more variety. The new system is too limited and bottle necked. I do not do fractals so those days I forfeit the daily. I miss killing fish for a daily, or rabbits. So much fun.
Why are people saying his dailies give him laurels? He just gets those from logging in….all the dailies give him is some paltry loot and some AP’s.
And with the way ap’s are set up, almost nobody is ever going to complete their armour sets and the rest is meh.
Always. Old habits die hard.
RIP City of Heroes
I tend to do the pvp ones these days. Super easy and you get the reward tracks.
This is definitely the best option. Especially if you aren’t comfortable with pvp you can just run a practice round and move on.
I used to do a few of them a week. I haven’t really been doing them at all lately and can’t imagine it being something I’ll focus on in the future. I just have no reason to increase my achievement points.
I’m not 100% rigid about absolutely NEEDING to do them every single day, but I’d say I do them the majority of the time.
Unless its a double-fractal day, as I don’t do fractals nor WvW or PvP.
i always do the PvP dailies and saved ~ 600 pvp potions so far
(80 potions = 1 full reward track)
when a limited time reward track comes
i can instantly finish it
even multiple times if necessary
… last wintersday we could get PERMANENT finishers and the exotic aquabreather with AURA EFFECT from the Wintersday reward track
… thats basically a sort of legendary aqua breather^^

I’m also doing the PvP dailies, I’m not saving the potions since I’m going for the dungeoneer collection, but you gave me a good idea, I’ll save 80 of them just in case
EDIT: I got that breather from the pvp track too
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I do them maybe every second or third day .. since i only play open world PvE and
so dual fractals of course means no daily for me .. and often if i must do 4 events
in zone i don’t like or know well i also skip them.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I don’t do them, unless it’s by accident. I haven’t completed a full 3 for ages. I just play.
| 61 Asura | 5 Charr | 2 Norn | 1 Human | 1 Sylvari |
I much preferred the old dailies better but I still do these ones. I grab the quickest 3 of the PvE and WvW dailies.
My favorites (fastest) are Daily Miner (I have lots of nodes in my Home instance and I go there anyways), Daily Big Spender (takes seconds), and Daily Vista. Honorable mentions to Daily Mystic Forger, Daily Land Claimer, and Daily Master of Ruins.
I do them but don’t think about doing them. They are more of a I am thinking about do some of this tonight, are there any additional tie-ins to things going on in the world that might piggyback on. What would people find fun to do based on the nightly moods.
One of the other threads was me. I too miss the bigger selection from the old system and wanted to see more options added. We seem to keep getting more and more restricted to make it “easier” on people. I don’t know if I agree that “easier” is equal to less to choose from.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
I do my PvP dailies every day. Takes about 10 minutes of my time. There is really no reason not to do them.
I used to do them a couple times a week. I had to go out of my way and waste time doing them though. I have better things I could be doing in and out of game than wasting my time getting achievement points.
(edited by Fernling.1729)
I was actually thinking of making a thread like that a long time ago. But it would have come out as a complaint.
I have not done dailies since they changed them. Sometimes they’d complete themselves, but very rarely.
As it is, the dailies don’t exist for me, as they force me out of my daily play routine and I just don’t want to be told what to do.
after the daily system changed, I haven’t really done dailies like I used to. I just log in, grab the reward and harvest my home instance. I don’t want to jump all over the map for the PvE dailies. (Although, as some people have pointed out, PvP are easier, so maybe I’ll take a look into completing those?)
People who can’t tend to call the opponent troll, scream something utterly incomprehensible
and finally result to personal insults.
I never miss a daily. Easy 10AP. In most cases you can do them in under 10min. I think my record was 3min with a Maguuma Lumberer, WvW Big Spender, and Mystic Forger.
If you restrict yourself to PvE only it can take much longer with those Events.
I just look for the following:
a) <Zone> <Gathering> (if you have a stocked home instance its super fast, just go to corresponding capital)
b) Mystic Forger (cheap sigils/runes, can buy on TP, or just hold onto some in your bank for when it comes up, throw in forge)
c) WvW Big Spender (load up EoTM, go to siege vendor guy, 2nd tab, buy 5 Flame rams)
d) <Zone> Vista Viewer (I usually do them in the capitals as well, or in Orr there are some real easy ones to get to)
e) WvW Veteran Creature Killer (load into whichever BL starts you off at bottom right area, NE of the camp that is directly N of spawn location is a Veteran Harpy, just kill that, very rare that there are enemies around, if it’s not there, just hang out for a few, it will spawn eventually)
f) WvW Caravan Disruptor (this is an alternate as it can be dodgy at times, hop into a BL, look for any enemy caravans that may be near to your spawn point. Bee line it and just kill one dolyak, that’s it)
g) WvW Land Claimer (just need to capture a Sentry point, usually the Sentries in the center of BLs where the ruins are go unnoticed. Very easy to run there and kill them, but I always go after whatever is closest, even if it means jumping BL to BL)
h) WvW Master of Ruins (go to your home BL, then WP to your garrison, assuming the WP is up, then jump into water, and go to nearest ruin)
i) And finally, if all else fails and none of these are feasible, pretty much one PvP match will get it for you.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
It depends on what it is, and what my plans for that day are. If I’m doing something vague like levelling a character and there are dailies I feel like doing I’ll use them as a starting point. If I already have set content in mind or they don’t appeal to me I’ll skip them.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
I don’t do them very often. They tend to take me out of my way from what I really want to do. In the old system I could generally get most of the daily just by playing whatever content I wanted, now it’s so specific that it’s not worth my time unless I have nothing else I’m wanting to do.
I do them often, if I can find 3 pve/wvw ones that I’m willing to do. I usually prefer to spend my time in wvw, so I don’t want to do any of the pve ones that take too much time as I would take a pve one typically when it takes less time than the wvw ones or there’s an interesting reward. (Something like mystic forge is ideal) There are some dailies I usually refuse to do unless it’s right in front of me:
- Any region specific event completer aside from sparkfly. Never do this one. It’s ridiculously specific and too many people end up doing it.
- Ascalon/Shiverpeaks gatherer. I usually don’t visit these places and is a incredible detour most of the time. I prefer lumberer or forager over miner because being rewarded mithril that doesn’t even pay for the wp cost is lame.
- World Boss dailies unless really close to spawns. I do not like sitting around for a yellow or two and I hate how specific it is. Also, I never do Jormag regardless of timer.
- WvW veteran creature slayer. I hate this daily because it has nothing to do with real wvw and is naturally a detour. These also get killed so much and I have better things to do then wait for a respawn.
- Fractal dailies
- WvW objective defender. Usually comes with normal play but no point taking a detour. I don’t consider this a viable alternative when time is limited.
So if the dailies are double fractal, shiverpeaks miner, event completer, wvw veteran creature slayer, then the remaining wvw dailies are the only choice. So if one of those is Keep capture and there aren’t any vulnerable keeps or I’m in a queued EB and there’s a daily ruins , I just won’t bother at all. Fortunately, these things tend to be rare, though somewhat annoying when it does happen.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Bzzt.
Dailies, at least in PVE, do not give you laurels. You get laurels as part of your login reward. Occasionally RNG will bless you with T6 materials from gathering but that hardly is guaranteed.
I admittedly miss the old dailies. Daily Gatherer ~ Always remember
The Secksy Monk [Guild Wars 1]
Stormbluff Isle – Storm Slayer Dragons [SDS]
I try to do mine every day. Time constraits and all. Sometimes I just cba, it’s only 10ap.
I mix and match mine between all 3 modes, and am I one of the few that likes double Fractal dailies? I only started doing fractals regularly a week ago and I’m now scale 26, it’s encouraged my guild to progress fractals too so hardly anyone complains about this daily anymore.
I really do not miss the old dailies.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
Had done them every day since launch (occasionally missing one every few weeks) even through the Daily restructurings. Have not really done a daily since the most recent restructure and highly limiting change to the available tasks to complete it.
(see quoted post as I feel pretty much the same about the change as Juclesia Elcritian does)
That horrible change was directly responsible for my lack of interest in even logging in much anymore.
If they brought back the previous daily task options then I would probably go back to logging in and playing every day.
Stripping the daily task options down to a select few, coupled with no content updates or temporary festival re-additions in many months, as well as no new armor sets to spend time acquiring to incorporate into existing or new characters’ fashions has pretty much gotten rid of any reason for me to log in anymore.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I dont. Today for instance was annoying so no Ididnt finish them.
I didn’t used to until they became the only guaranteed method of aquiring Spirit Shards. Now I they are the first thing I do after logging in if I intend to play for any amount of time.

Yes, I do the PvE and WvW dailies.

:\ For me, I stopped considering the achievement chests as being “sweet” when they removed the armor and weapon skins from them. It was a nice alternative method of acquisition for many of the dungeon skins even if it was a very rare chance of getting one, or even more rare to get one you were hoping for. When that change was made, I stopped caring about achievement points and those chests completely, which led to my no longer looking to complete content to earn them and contributed to lack of interest in even logging in. There has been far too much reduction in content that has led to lack of motivation and interest to continue playing. I still have a tiny bit of hope that ANet will change this direction of reduction and restriction in the future…a very, very tiny bit.

I do agree that the achievement chests have been extremely lame and underwhelming since they removed the skins from them.

Thanks for the idea- never thought of saving up the potions!
I always do my dailies, as they’re my main source of spirit shards now.
winning 1 pvp match will almost always complete the daily.
Not really.
I have no need for spirit shards.
If it does get done, it’s because im playing normally. Otherwise, i could care less.
I do them once in a while. When I do, I find my view has not changed and I generally stop doing them until my memory gets hazy.
The current iteration’s strengths are more options for PvP and WvW-only players and a sometimes task or two for fractal runners. The weaknesses are boring chores like tap vista and go to zone to tap 4 nodes, coupled with “shove everyone that wants to do them into the same zone for events,” which produces the worst game-play I’ve ever seen in an MMO. All events in the zone become a copy of “Defend the Beacon Until Pact Reinforcements Can Arrive” in Cursed Shore, but with weaker mobs.
The only good thing I can say about those PvE tasks is that they’re over with quickly.
I usually do the daily world boss, gatherer, vista viewer, activity participator and mystic forger when they’re available. If there’s an event daily I will completely ignore it, as I’m tired of competing to get even bronze in a single event on those days. Fractal dailies I will sometimes do if I’m in the mood, but usually if there’s less than 3 PvE dailies that I will do, I end up going into PvP and getting the last one/s there.
I mainly PvE, but I find that the PvP dailies are by far the easiest ones to do.
And yes, I generally try to do dailies every day.
So long Treeface.
“…Kormir? I know not of whom you speak.”
Not really.
I have no need for spirit shards.
If it does get done, it’s because im playing normally. Otherwise, i could care less.
If you could care less than that means you care at least a little.
Umm, I’ve never done the dailies. This is the kind of crap that I hate about mmorpg’s. I just want an online game that plays like skyim. Not all this tail chasing.
Not really.
I have no need for spirit shards.

Not necessarily. Some expressions have connotations that are more apropos than they appear. Expressions are often shortened forms for a longer saying. “I could care less” is sometimes a short form for “I couldn’t care less,” and sometimes for “No one could care less than I do.”
I’m telling you people….pvp daily rooms is where it’s at. Don’t be afraid of them, they are made especially for this purpose and you can complete your daily very quickly and get those nifty reward tracks too. It’s wonderful.
Every day. It’s a lot faster than the old systems – on a good day it’s about five minutes.
I am very close to my AP cap from dailies though, so I don’t know if I’ll be continuing after. I may just for the daily login and some of the more decent reward chests.
For the toast!
Dailies are pretty much the only thing I do in the game now.
