Do you expect something new tomorrow?
A bigger patch might help but right now, people who want to try MoP will try MoP no matter what.
Just like people are hating on GW2 now 3 weeks after the launch, I can guarantee you they will be hating on MoP 3 weeks after their launch. That would imo be the best time for GW2 to release some future content info or something like that.
Well they don’t really need to battle because this game has no sub fee, which is one of the reasons this game is so great. People will go play other games when they release new content and then come back here and play whenever they want. Once the new expansion is played out they’ll come back, and they’ll be back when they need a little break from the new game after playing it for a week straight.
GW2 is not game which requires exclusivity, you can play other games without feeling like you’re loosing out money on the sub fee.
To be fair as it currently stands, that “other” game is more polished than GW2 is right now. I wouldn’t even touch GW2 if it was sub right now but the other game I will be.
I surely hope so.
More content is always wanted.
On the other hand, MoP release will do a lot of good to our community.

Make it far smaller so arenanet has less people to please.

But this is not how business works.
I imagine dungeon rewards will be better, as in fixed. Let us hope. Of course the dungeons themselves will still be a pain to run. They could reward people less if the dungeons had more of a fun value.
no not expecting anything new,the game has only been out for 3 weeks.People saying wow is more polished, how many years has it taken, the game was a mess when it first released.New mmos take time to grow and are always improving and i would gladly pay a sub for this game.I was truely a big wow fan for many years but im not even bothering with the new expansion, pandas and the whole east theme just doesnt appeal and ive had my fill of raiding and wow has nothing else about it other than that.
How about make the existing content work first? ORR is a bug fest. Let them fix what is broken first.
i logged into wow…….and then saw howkitten poor the textures were, so logged back into Guild wars :P
@Bloodtau.4672
That worked well for SWTOR.
I surely hope so.

Some people want just more WoW. And MoP will give them more WoW.
I believe there are valid concerns that needs adressed but it gets overwhelmed by complaints about people that had wrong expectation about GW2.
From vanilla to WotlK I raid hardcore. Loved it. But I only did it because it was in me to down a new objective, learn a new fight and get that new gear that gave me status.
Numbers were just a trick. My dps at vanilla, if memory serves me right, was 700? Dont remember, really. On WotlK it was 7k. My “gear progression” didnt really matter as a boss had the same HP output scaled.
What allowed people to down bosses was to have gear to meet the said scaling and coordination.
That forced us to do “farm nights” to get new players to the minimum gear level to progress.
Now we dont have to farm that. Downing a new instance is fun and hard, that’s really cool knowing that you outplay somebody else that couldnt do it. The word is exactly that: you play better because status are all the sameish.
GW2 needs expansion and adjustments, that I garantee you. Dungeons need to be more rewarding, doing all 4 explorer mode should net you something cool, even if it is only cosmetic (because that’s where all gear progression narrows down eventually… till next insane nerf and every one gets it as well).
I see issues with GW2 that needs adressing, but I have a lot of fun in the current state, I actually partake on events based on how well scripted and written it is, but there are far too many people expecting what wont happen and they are just poluting our forums with that.
It’s like expecting a cow laying down some eggs. Go get a chicken.
Why they should worry in 2 days and not in the first of the next month , where a major mmo lanuch his x-pack (rift) ?
Why they should worry in 2 days and not in the first of the next month , where a major mmo lanuch his x-pack (rift) ?
Not just Rift, there is so much good stuff coming out. I love playing GW2 but i am 80 and i want to enjoy DE’s in ORR but in its current state not happening.
“Why they should worry in 2 days and not in the first of the next month , where a major mmo lanuch his x-pack (rift) ?”
made me Lol

Rift has the highest number of players for P2P category second to WOW. I don’t know what you are loling about. While games like SWTOR failed to keep their player base and is going F2P. Rift is still going strong.
Well, it looks like new dungeon changes are incoming:
I’m not sure if it’s tomorrow, but it looks like they are making tokens accountbound (instead of soulbound) and INCREASING the amount of tokens per run.
“A release is 7 days or less away or has just happened within the last 7 days…
These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”
I played WoW since the days of World of RougeCraft until BC and then on and off through lich king and cata.
The game has always been broken. Vanilla wow was broken, but it was fun. BC ruined the whole game and every expansion afterwards put another nail in the coffin.
The PvP is literally unfixable. you can’t ever hope to compete in arenas unless you spend the next 2-3 years grinding badges for gear that will become outdated by the time you have enough.
Not to mention the ridiculous gear dependency which basically nullifies any personal skill and forces everyone to run the same build in which the victor is decided by who has wasted more money and time getting armor that has 1-2 more stats.
I can easily turn this into a book just from my personal experience, but to end it i’m just gonna throw out that 15/mo is not worth any of the content, pvp or pve, as well as the low graphical quality and horrendous sounds and lastly the brutally agonizing grind to max lvl just to find that no one wants you because you don’t play enough to be of use.
Gw2 has been out barely 4 weeks, and if you have played GW1 you will know there will be an good amount of content added.

@Bloodtau…Are you serious ? That Game has been released 7 years ago, talk about polished, they had 7 years to polish it,gw2 has barely been released..Seriously some of you, should really just hop back to that piece of crap.
The same people who hated Star Wars after 2 weeks, then hated GW2 after 2 weeks will also play for 200 hours, finish up the new content in 1 to 2 weeks and hate MoP.

That worked well for SWTOR.
Yeah…and SWTOR failed. If players are leaving a game, and some stay its basicly like that:
-Fans are staying and palying.
-Normal players left, they dont care.
-> MMO failed.
I dont want to see GW2 failing, nor low pop servers everywhere. This game should be big and full with players.
I expect this one skill point to not be bugged

That depends what the portion of fans and the portion of other players is. There’s people who bought GW2 just for the month until MoP release, so the numbers will definitely drop no matter what Anet does.
The truth is, none of us really knows where the game will be six months or a year from now. There’s even games that are great and do financialy poorly anyway. Of course many people who don’t plan on staying just love shouting doom prophecies.
There’s also many games that “flopped” on release but managed to stay afloat through free to play. GW2 had no sub from the start so I think it’ll at least do well enough to prosper.
We’re getting a patch tomorrow, probably a fairly large one.
They keep talking about the “9/24” patch in the dev tracker.
MoP quite frankly is joke. That game is so outdated at this point, but those who love Wow will always love WOW. I played it for years and I had some of my best MMO moments ever with it, but I have moved on. SWTOR moved me away from it and when that tanked I ended up in Rift biding my time until GW2 came out.
I still have accounts that are inactive atm with Blizzard, but I won’t be going back ever again. A new era of gaming has dawned for me and I will continue to play the games that seek to innovative and transform the online gaming genre of MMO fantasy.
I surely hope so.
More content is always wanted.

remove a good portion of the people whose main complaint is that GW2 is not like WoW.
@Revan BC was the best WOW xpack hands down. WOTLK was the slow deathknell of wow IMO. Only Ruins of Kunark and SoV from EQ1 bring back fond xpack memories that compare to BC, which was a great xpack all around.
I’m going to keep playing and seeing how it develops GW2, I’m not interested in WoW anymore, and now that I’ve played GW2 even less. But the competition is tough and hopefully will shake anet to do something “really” new in the future.
GW2 is a good game overall, but needs more work atm. I keep waiting for the news about the content on your blog anet, as you said before
The same people who hated Star Wars after 2 weeks, then hated GW2 after 2 weeks will also play for 200 hours, finish up the new content in 1 to 2 weeks and hate MoP.
Yes, that ^^^^
My husband and I buy a LOT of games. It’s our hobby. There have been a few stinkers we didn’t get our money’s worth out of, but even SWTOR was cheaper entertainment in terms of dollars per hour than going out to the clubs or seeing a movie. I think the underlying problem here is that folks that will drop $60 at a pub for an evening of fun complain that a $60 game has stopped entertaining them after playing for 150+ hours.
MMOs in general are set up to have a bunch of unhappy customers simply because they have expectations that can not be met. Some folks enjoy games that have a clearly defined ultimate goal and have the most fun getting to that ultimate goal faster than other people. That’s fine – the problem comes in when people expect the same game to be entertaining forever when they’re playing to get as fast as possible to some goal. MMOs can’t add new meaningful goals for those players faster than they can achieve them.
My play style is different. I’m more interested in exploring the world and playing a character in it. I have enough goal achieving stress at work, I want to escape it. GW2 is perfect for me in that respect and I get really cranky when folks demand that the game mechanics be changed to be more like the other stuff out out the market. This is the only game I have that completely caters to my style of play. The folks that are asking for a complete change in game mechanics have lots of other options and I wish they would go take advantage of them.
If the folks that like this sort of game are really such a minority, then it will go the same way as SWG. I’m still hoping we’re a big enough niche to make a reasonable profit from.

IF WoW had come out with an Emerald Dream expansion I would have played it. I’m not interested in MoP and I don’t like where they are taking the game with it. But I know there are plenty of people who still really enjoy WoW and there’s nothing wrong with that. You should play a game that you find fun. For me, it’s GW2 and it’s the only game that I’m playing at the moment.
On Monday I expect them to fix the problems with the dungeons and other misc bugs. If we get some new content this early after release, it will be a bonus as far as I am concerned.
Things I’m hoping for in the future:
Kodan and Tengu playable races
An instance similar to what we had in GW1 with Sorrow’s Furnace or Domain of Anguish or Underworld etc. Basically it was like doing hard mode quests with a larger group in an instanced area. I think that would be a lot of fun, not take anything away from what GW2 is trying to be and give the raiders, who keep asking for a larger group, something to do.
Kodan and Tengu playable races,i rather not have it..if they do,they have to set an expansion around it .And Rather see dwarves return from gw1,they already have a background story, the lore can be expanded and they can be brought back to gw2 aswell,it would fit so much better with the other races. We already have asurans,do we really need polar bears and chickens ato make gw2 into a freakshow of weird races to play with ?
Well they don’t really need to battle because this game has no sub fee, which is one of the reasons this game is so great. People will go play other games when they release new content and then come back here and play whenever they want. Once the new expansion is played out they’ll come back, and they’ll be back when they need a little break from the new game after playing it for a week straight.
GW2 is not game which requires exclusivity, you can play other games without feeling like you’re loosing out money on the sub fee.
Excellent observation! I like to think of MMO’s as archetypes of women I have dated throughout my life. My first MMO was SWG (don’t judge…) She was a good woman who I had a desperate loyalty to because she was my first. Even after things went south, I found myself sticking by her side long after I should have moved on. Next… SWTOR. She looked like she was going to be a super model; a high priced, expensive girl from a big family with lots of money. Yet after 6 months I realized there was no real substance to her, just fake lashes and bad personality. Now… there is GW2. I came here with no long term expectations, much like a girl you take home from the bar. Yet the more I hang out with her, the more I realize how cool she is. A fun chick who doesn’t require all of my attention or money and has no problem with me hanging out with other girls.
Moral of this story… I like GW2 so far :P
i got a 7 day free game time a week or so ago and decided to log in for the first time since early Cataclysm and see if anyone i know were still playing, i was shocked to see that Ironforge was a total ghost town and Stormwind weren’t much better. They have also removed the talent trees and turned them into a bad copy of GW2.
I put on some nice gear on my character and took a final screenshot.
I will miss the fun days of Kara and Ulduar but the game i used to love is dead.
I will not return.

GW2 is GW2 while WoW is WoW. People who like to play WoW will go play the expansion and then eventually bore of it and come back here while people who couldn’t careless for WoW which is probably the mass majority of GW2 player base won’t even bother moving.
Yes, I do expect something new tomorrow… I start classes at college again, so I will be looking at day and night classes for the entire next quarter. GW2 will fit in just nicely. No sub fees, so no wasted money. LOL, even if I were a WoW fan, which I am not, their release couldn’t have been timed more poorly. GW2 released theirs at the perfect time. I got a full 30 days of playtime before heading back to school. Cheers ArenaNet for knowing your player base!
Patch or not, those who already want to try MoP will buy it. They’ll probably be bored within a month or two and be back on GW2 when their sub runs out. That’s the benefit of having no sub fee.
Also, I’ve seen a few people claim that GW2 is a “WoW clone”. I bet if you asked them what was cloned they wouldn’t be able to tell you. I’ve yet to find something in this game that makes me think of WoW. It’s completely different.
@Bloodtau: GW2 is a very polished game for just being released. They’ve been polishing WoW for almost 8 years and it still has issues.
@Natural: No, Revan is right. WoW started going downhill the moment the first xpac was released.
This is not a topic to start a flame wars. Quite simply, “2” days left to launch an expansion of a major MMO, we all know who is. Question is simple, we all know that companies battle each other. Expect some new information for tomorrow?
What game? You mean WoW? Not everyone on the planet has even had a WoW account popular to belief. I thought that game was the epitome of empty grind when I played a demo.
A lot of people already like ANet from GW1 and are more than happy to stick with GW2 through every update and expansion.
It would be nice if by tomorrow I received the money I lost in the TP three days ago.
Tomorrow is a day like any other, I don’t see why.
I’ve got something to look forward for tomorrow: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dungeon-Tokens-Account-Bound-please/first
Scroll to Jon’s second answer.
I just hope there’s a build new coming (and as far as I’m aware there should be, because they’re removing mystic chests) and that this will be included in it.
No, it wouldn’t make sense to announce or release anything this week. Blizzard will control the Gaming media for the next couple of weeks, simply because they are the current 800 pound gorilla in the room.
I just hope they fix some of the class bugs. I got a necro to 40 was bored to death. So i made a engineer, got him to 51 now bored. Tried “combat mode” made the game WAY better. Didnt want to get banned so i deleted it… back to bored. Hopefully they change around some of the classes so i can do PvP for a few days try new builds.
All I want is a ptach or a server reboot so I can reach 100% map completion… that will make me happy. Them not doing a patch or a reboot will leave me unhappy.
I wouldn’t think ANet would spend a great deal of time “worrying” about the nature of the competitive beast that is other MMO expansions launching. They’re busy working on this stuff:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/10ddhp/924_and_101_patch_compilation_and_other/
People that want to play GW2 as well as other games can do so without worrying about monthly fees being squandered. Let them go play that stuff and then come back after they’ve blown through that content.
In the meantime, those who are prone to blowing through content and then spending a lot of time on the forums grousing because they’re bored will be distracted by other momentary shinies and these boards will be less inundated with stuff we’ve all heard a hundred times over, already.

Yes. I demand and expect BOTS to be banned
and Chinese IP’s blacklisted.
i don’t expect much, aside from the forums being a bit cleaner for exactly 3 weeks. once the night elves and orcs rush to clear out the expansion content, and post a bit on the blizzard forums how there is no endgame, will they maybe return and we’ll be right back where we are right now.
