Guild Wars 2

I have been playing GW2 for awhile now with friends and it has been great. It has amplified the experience of this game ten fold. I am not just talking about only hanging with guild mates. I mean late game night with close buds and people I have never met before on Skype. If I played this game alone, it would get boring fast, but hanging with the same people consistently has been phenomenal.

Who plays the game with a group of buds and have you guys had/have similar experiences?

Do you play alone ? Do you still have fun ?

Most of the time alone…but it depends on the content. If I am wanting to do dungeons, I go with guild members. Sometimes on the LS parts I find it best to grab a friend and work together. Mostly, though, I plow through saving the world on my own…and enjoy it.

I usually play with a couple of friends.
I hate playing alone, so I go look after people that I know but that are not in my guild when my guildies are offline.

low-levelled, mostly alone. Once I get it to 80, back to socialize..

I generally game play alone, but chat in guild chat.

I roleplay with friends, though.

yes, we have more fun together.

- i finish my dailies alone
- fun? hmmm it is a daily chore.
- not sure if fun or daily routine.
- if i’m in a map that i have not 100% yet then i may spend some time to explore it on my own

In open world, I play with whoever is around. People get better when I’m around.

Ask all those guys I helped get to the top of the tower.

I sometimes do instanced content with guildies, but I’m not afraid of pugs when guildies are busy with something else. As I said, people get better when I’m around. Just a simple comment like “target these guys first” or “do not rush in, slowly fall back and try to pull them one by one” can make things much, much easier.

I do the daily a lot solo. Other than that I have some friends I play with if they are on. If they are not on I often log out.

I do everything with just my wife….before she played I did it all alone cause I needed my XP and loot and did not want others I did not know taking it. I would much rather play most MMO’s with just me and my wife. Playing with big groups seem to water down the things we need. I would rather it go to my wife then anyone else just working with us to sap our loot and xp. If I had a few friends that played that I know outside the game I would play with them but other then that just alone or with my wife. Don’t trust others to help just to help I see them helping to get something from someone using them and running off.

I play alone, unless I am doing some WvW then its with the guild.

My friends quit the game long long ago..about a year ago now. Three went back to WoW, my brother stopped playing MMOs all together.

I’ve ended up playing alone after the friends I started with left, the guild folded we were in and went on to be part of 2 more guilds that folded and 2 other guilds that didn’t communicate enough to make new friends in.

GW2 has a very transient playerbase and it makes it very hard to maintain keeping friends when they’re constantly leaving and joining. I haven’t lucked out on finding long-term players and got tired of making new friends only to watch them leave after a few months.

It’s probably time for a break since my best friend’s name is Grind.

Mostly solo/alone because no one I know plays this game anymore, yet I still really enjoy it. I make parties through the LFG tool, but no one joins.. so yeah. GG.

My real life friends quit for one reason or another, and I find this game so big and impersonal that it’s really difficult to make friends. Repping different guilds and the fact that the game is too alt friendly (I never know who the Hell anyone is in guild chat because each person has about 8 different names)

Perhaps I should stop blaming the game and just admit that I can’t stand 99% of the people I meet. I have taken a shine to a couple in my guild but I have very little in common with them.

I usually play alone while making the odd wisecrack in guild chat.

Being a Misanthrope is quite difficult sometimes.

Mostly alone these days.

Real life friends have moved on or don’t have time. And I’m kind of antisocial in MMOs these years, so I kind of keep to myself so I don’t make very many lasting connections.

Overall, I am not unhappy with the experience as I can easily do most open world stuff without getting a group. And for any instances I need to group with I can easily find a group.

It can make the game kind of hard to feel fun sometimes. But I enjoy the open world boss events a lot and I think it kind of makes up for the lesser lonely experience I may have otherwise. And I can’t deny I’ve met some interesting personalities in game so its always nice to see them every day even if I don’t talk directly to them. :P

I almost always play alone.

My main MMO is WoW and I’m in a very social and active guild so it’s hard to be alone there. So GW2 is sort of my escape hatch when I feel like playing alone. I load up the game, do my daily achievements, do some events for the heck of it, gather some mats for ascended (as if I’ll ever get those ;_;), maybe a jumping puzzle because I love those, etc. The other day my GW2 guild asked for help on a guild bounty so I came, but yeah… I like being a lone wolf in Tyria.

You realize people can’t take your loot?
you actually get better loot and more xp if you are in a party.
the game is set up so that you benefit from having others around.

To answer the original question I used to always party with my husband when he still played and sometimes now I play with a friend- but since she is low lvl, I mostly just hang out with her and help her if she is in a sticky situation or needs a difficult skill point.

I love being out in the world and exploring on my own and often while I am doing this I get a party request from some random person that is also on the map.
I often accept these and just run around with them and do things we both need and then go out ways again.
Have met some nice people like that
Especially in the more out of the way maps.

Mostly I love just running around by myself- I chat to my friends but I roam alone

If someone needs help in map I always go unless I am fighting for my life already.

Before i left it was mostly Alone.. why, because all my friends had left before me.
