Do you tend to go hunting in guild wars 2? aimlessly slaying beasts all across some area just because its fun? Not aiming for rewards, just for total and complete fun? if so, what do you hunt? regular, veteran or champions? do you keep track of your kill count? if you feel like share your hunting grounds, i have a few places i like to hunt:

Blazeridge Steepes ; Ferrusatos Village [&BPEBAAA=]: Down the river, theres just a huge concentration of drakes, easy targets, they go down quick, good if you’re looking for a rush.

Fireheart Rise ; Pig Iron Mine: get to the fortress southwest of the island, theres a good place to hunt flame legion. i dont tend to go there much, but its pretty fun to go there.

Southsun Cove; Scoured Plains: (owain’s refuge waypoint): I used to go there to have some fun with the veteran karkas, well… i wouldnt recomend going there anymore, because theres a karka train going on… its not fun anymore.

Southsun Cove; Southsun Shoals: i go there to simply kill anything that moves around that part. anything! just be careful not to kill a certain veteran karka, you might end up ruining some guild bounty.

I do this all the time.. infact probably 10% of my play time or more is just aimless killing. Sometimes I’ll go massacre hyleks in Metrica Province… not really a challenge but it is addicting. Lately I’ve been exploring southsun, the creatures there are fun. I used to mindlessly kill anything that moved in Fireheart Rise.. haven’t been there for a while though.

I’m only here because sometimes I just like to watch things burn.

Hahaha glad I’m not the only one who plays the game by not playing. I love rolling through Sylvari-controlled lands pretending I’m a fascist industrialist dream-wrecker, while calling everyone a kitten.

So kinda like Red Foreman.

Only in places where it could become profitable. I try not to do it too much so I don’t end up looking like a bot.

I don’t really go hunting specifically but I will roam around maps liking for something fun to climb or jump off, and if I see a vet or champ I’ll usually fight it.

I like to RP hunting in-game, but real hunting – thinking about the creature I’m targeting, playing out a story regarding my character’s motivations, avoiding killing other creatures I’m not trying to target, using the terrain and their habits to my advantage.

By contrast, what you’re describing sounds more like slaughter; nothing wrong with that, but I am friends with several hunters who might take issue with your characterization. Some days, it’s fun to just take out everything I run across (especially when farming some mats), but that’s not hunting to me.

Before MegaServer I would RP hunt/gather as I camped out in the woods of Timberline Falls. After MagaServer I could no longer remain immersed into the activity due to dozens of players constantly running past me and flamethrowering everything around me. I’ve not been able to RP hunt/gather/camp out since MS was forced on us.

Before MegaServer I would make it a daily activity (sometimes multiple times daily) to go to the Harathi Hinterlands to kill me some centaur! I would end up doing the entire zone event chain up to Ulgoth completely on my own. It was so much fun. Now that Ulgoth is on a timer and the zone is filled with so many people due to MegaServer, it is not nearly as much fun. I went from slaughtering hundreds upon hundreds of centaur (I used to actually keep as close a count as I could to how many I rid the lands of) and killing their leader every day, to barely being able to tag a few of the beasts due to all the players around and only catching Ulgoth “up” one time. :\ Can’t even go into that zone without becoming very sad, so I don’t go there anymore.

Still trying to find a new area that is free of so many other players that could work well for RP hunting/gathering/camping. :\ Orr areas aren’t good for this kind of activity at all, really, even if there are so few people there.

When I first did map completion, Hylek were REALLY bothering me, so now every time I see a Hylek village, I make it my duty to go on a genocide.

I do this when I level up a character, looking for neutral enemies that will most likely be stacked with bonus exp.

Nah, if there’s no purpose I usually don’t do it, in any game. The only exception is exploring; I LOVE exploring in all games.

I’d like something I could track down and best in combat. Otherwise I hunt Sons of Svanir.

Sort of like the unrealized potential of hunting down and fighting Modus Sceleris? I wish Anet would expand on their concept a bit more and spread them out over all of Tyria. Could be great if little clues popped up that led you on a trail of clues to hunt down the members and fight them.

They could be a true trophy that is worthy of being hunted…especially if they dropped named items to show you bested them.

I used to hunt champs in FGS, but then they added Champ bags and my desire for a solo hunt conflicted with others’ desires to farm. I then took the hunt elsewhere. Gendarren Fields had a decent champ rotation. I hear that some of the champs there have been downgraded, but haven’t logged in to confirm.

A quest/event where you had to track something would be awesome! (Don’t Starve is a game that has this, and it’s quite fun because there’s a chance you will end up with something you weren’t expecting at the end of the tracks…)
