None. They are not allowed unfortunaly. They want to keep everyone on a level playing field as much as possible. I think part of it my be that it would be hard to distinguis between a macro and a bot.

“Thanks to the support of the SteelSeries Engine software, you can record even extremely long and advanced macros to the Guild Wars 2 Gaming Mouse. "

Not allowed? They’re advertising it. I just don’t really see any good uses for it tbh. I’m just wondering what everyone thinks.

SteelSeries is advertising it, not ArenaNet, but since it’s an official mouse, that does mean ArenaNet has to deal with it. However, the section on macros ends with a statement that you should follow any games rules and that they are only providing the ability to use macros. They don’t actually say to use them in-game.

The official rule is

Macros

Guild Wars 2 players are permitted to use macros as long as the macros are programmed with a 1 key for 1 function protocol.

  1. This means that if you program a macro, it must require one keystroke per action. You may not program a single key to perform multiple functions.
  2. For example, if you Press A and it results in the casting of a single skill, you’re ok. If you Press A and it casts multiple spells, you’re not ok.

New mouses and keyboard are circumventing any current detection for widespread known said type issues in games……….to say they are not aware of such things in this game would be ignorant of me.

If I was to ever make a macro, I’d probably have one that auto left clicks while I hold down the key. That way it would make opening karma jugs and droplets easier when I pop all the karma boosts.

Also remember reading you can use a macro, as long as it doesn’t give you an edge over other players, play for you while you’re away ect.

Now my question is can you use a macro to record songs for the choir bell? It gives you no edge in the game, how ever one key stroke does activate many others to play the song. Already tested it out before reading their policy on macros, but knowing it gave no edge over other players, or to generate income was common sense. Although if they cant distinguish this from a farming bot, I would hate to get banned for something this….

It would be nice to get an official announcement on if we can use it for choir bell songs. As there is a nice selection for tabs for it, although people who play it live would have some gripes with it, just look at it this way, a tab & a macro doesn’t mean you can play it as good as a live player, you still have to have some idea of how the song sounds, pauses between tones ect. .

The use of macros are allowed in GW2.

macros by definition is a single instruction that expands automatically into a set of instructions. This is not allowed GW2.

ArenaNet Support Liaison
As part of ArenaNet’s policy on third-party programs, we are often asked about multi-boxing and the use of macros. Here is our policy:

3. You cannot program a macro to perform the same or multiple actions on more than one account at a time.
4. You cannot program an “auto-clicker” macro that, for instance, opens chests while you play elsewhere.

I’m sorry but those aren’t marcos. Those are keybindings
