So with this new dodge focused combat system in use by GW2 do you find yourself suddenly finding the need to dodge everywhere else? Figured i cant be the only one but i was playing BF3 earlier and found myself blocked by an incoming angry mob of enemies…. needless to say I double tapped my way to failure outta there :/

Have you found yourself trying to “dodge” damage anywhere else?

Every time i jump off of something i end up hitting the dodge key, i will randomly dodge when walking past people, or if I’ve just bought from a merchant when done i dodge backwards before running off.

No idea why, i just do.

Played TSW before GW2 came out so dodge was already ingrained into me :p

Yep. Same way I keep finding myself reaching for a pause button when I’ve been playing Dragon Age, or other single-player RPGs and come back to GW1/2. It’s both fun and frustrating to find you’ve gotten so reliant on a particular mechanic.

From Tera to The Secret World to GW2. So I’ve been leaping and rolling around for months now. But I play so many single player games, my brain still wants to hit “F5” autosave every time I’m in an instance and am about to take on the boss.

Hehe, yeah, TSW got me used to dodging as a tactic too. MMOs without dodging and blocking seem a bit “dry” after you’ve gotten used to those tactics.

I actually tried dodging in Battlefield 3 as well lol. I find that I dodge in GW2 when It’s not needed just for the dramatic look… I pay dearly for wasting the dodges almost immediately though. =(

I was playing with my little cousin. He asked me to help him out on Code Lyoko on the Wii. There was a dodge/block mechanic to it, so I was dodging left and right and blocking projectiles like a baawwwsss. He then said, “Wow, you’re already a pro!”

“Guildwars baby,” I told myself, “Guildwars.”

I logged in to GW1 to get some more HoM rewards… I swear for about half an hour I was trying to dodge-roll in every fight. One long string of facepalms XD

After BWE2, I had to break my habit of dodging in my little remaining time in DDO.

I mainly played old consoles between the end of my DDO time and the beginning of GW2. Hard to be tempted to dodge in a 2d RPG.

I tried WoW for kitten and giggles. I died. Forgot you can’t move and cast on there. SoI face planted when I ran straight into a boss thinking I could drop a well and dodge out….

I had been playing Mass Effect 3 and Monster Hunter before GW2 so dodging was a pretty natural thing.

When I went back to Monster Hunter, I kept expecting my dodge to give me invincibility, which got me killed a few times.

Now I’m playing Torchlight 2. At first I was playing with WASD to move and wanted to dodge all the time. I switched to gamepad and now I don’t feel the need to anymore, maybe because it’s so easy to move around now.

@nasty I remember watching that anime :P didn’t know they made a game…

I have tried to both dodge in WoW and GW1 now.

When I first got Skyrim and played for like a week straight I finally logged back into WoW and tried pressing alt to sprint, SO many times… ugh. I asked trade chat and supposedly I wasn’t the only one.
