I been checking out some new clothes for my main and my alts. I want to create a unique looks for them.

So I been checking out the culture armours for different races. I noted that they are very expensive for what they worth.

First, the armour doesn’t stand out. They have no Fx like the dungeon armours and generally look very bland (except the Asuran).

Secound, they are only rare with no rune but they cost like 40 gold each. Compare with the Karma temple armours and dungeon armours they seems very expensive in comparison.

Third, they can only used by the same race as the armour. I would love to fit some of my alts with the Asuran armour but I can’t.

I think the price of the culture armours should be reduced a bit or have their stats increase to exotic at least. Alternative is to make them better looking and make them skins only like the heritage armours set.

What is your thoughts?

I think they are alright. If you want to get them you’ll make the sacrifice.

they might be “bland” as you said. But you wanting them made your make this topic.

also. Some of the tier 3 armor is exactly the same as the Destiny’s edge heroes armor.

Price should definately be cut on the Tier 3 cultural. The cost for a full suit is downright insane. It should be an investment, certainly, I’m not saying it should be 5g for a suit or anything, but its WAY too high right now. I’ve only glanced at the cost briefly since my highest level character is only 40 so I’ve got a ways to go before I start worrying about that, but I think its over 100g for the full suit.

Don’t care about the “flashy effects” personally. Different strokes for different folks and all that, personally I dislike a lot of ridiculous flash on my armor (Every time I see someone running around in the flaming armor from the CoF I groan). So I’m actually fond of the lack of effects.

Considering 100g is the price for Commander I would expect to get something better than an armor skin for the price of the tier 3 armors.

Price is fine for the 30th time. (Seriously, use the forum search function)

It’s something to work for. If you find it bland, don’t buy it. If you’re doing it for the achievement, then prepare to save money. It’s not hard to make gold to begin with.

These are skins. You don’t buy them for stats. So no, its fine that they’re rare. I have 2 chest pieces of t3 and I’m already back up to 35 gold.

Also, I should point out that full sets don’t always even look great. Mix and match pieces that you like to save yourself some coin.

Price is fine, It’s something to work towards. If you whiners try to take everything away that there is to work towards, then we’ll end up with a boring game because some people have nothing left to do. Not everything in the game has to cater to super casuals. Kinda like everyone whining about the precursors. Seriously. Price is fine. If you don’t like it anyway and think it’s bland, don’t get it, don’t whine about it’s price. How do you think all of us who actually worked for the 115 gold to buy these sets would feel if everyone started getting them?

T3 armor is the only armor set that requires even a bit of work to get. If you dont want to spend the money on it or think its not worth it, dont buy it. If you do want it, start working towards it instead of complaining.

And, stats mean nothing. You’re meant to transmute the armor into something with the stats you like.

Personally, I would like for Tier 3 Cultural armor to be either:

1. Cut to 50g for a whole set

OR

2. Buff it to Exotic status, and keep its current price. (Maybe reducing it to a flat 100g)

While it’s obviously intended to be a gold sink, I do think either of these changes would enable it to keep its function while still giving greater value to players.

1) Prices are fine. I say this because I’ve already spent 50g on two piece and reducing the prices would be a kick in the acorns. Also, it makes them that much more unique and rare.

2) Cultural armor is based on the culture and thus only the culture could wear it. Sylvari CA is grown, thus being a part of the Sylvari; not wearable by other races. Asuran CA is high-tech and highly advanced; no bookahs can wear it. Norn CA is made of honor furs; only a truly honorably Norn can wear them. …..so you see why they cannot be worn by other races?

3) The only points I agree on is that T3 cultural armor should be made into Exotics instead of Rares and should have racial-tyle runes plugged into them already.

again, it would be nice to receive some type of official response explain why those choices were made.

Id also like an explanation of why developers seem to put the most effort into greatswords and put other weapons to the side too but I dont ever expect that to happen. They chose the price for a reason and thats that. They dont owe you an explanation for anything that they create.

Price is fine for me personally, didn’t feel it was too much, and it was nice to have something to work towards.

As far as it not being fancy and elaborate like some of the dungeon sets. I dunno, what people like is what they like. Thats why there is so many different armor styles to choose from. The Cultural armor is just meant to be armor sets pertaining to their particular race and culture; tier 3 is usually what the main character of the race wears (ie. tier 3 sylvari light = Trehearane, medium = caithe, tier 3 light asura = zojja, etc). I’m not sure about letting other races wear the armor, seems to kind of take away from that and they’d have to find ways to model everything to all races, etc. There will probably be more cultural armors or just armors in general released to choose from. At the moment as far as skins we have the ones you get while leveling up, dungeon skins, faction skins, and most expensive being cultural skins.

Personally I went for my Sylvari’s set because it fit her race and because it wasn’t elaborate (like the TA set) and spouting fire (like the CoF set) and things, but I still found it very pretty (and some people think its hideous – that perception again lol). I also find it really hard to judge a lot of the armors because the preview either is default or adapts to your current dye set. So it can look either really interesting or terrible.

But the Cultural Armor you aren’t really buying for the stats. Otherwise you’d be hearing people complain for days about the stat allocations on them. You are usually transmuting them onto something else so it would be kind of a waste for a rune. Now if it was Exotic maybe a lot of peoples grief about the price would die down, but I dunno. If they still pertain to the stat allocations they have now, it still wouldn’t be primarily about the stats.

There’s only one reason for tier 3 to exist and that is purely for appearance.

I have completed the set and I’m so happy about it. It makes me stand out from the crowd and the price should not be nerfed in any way at all. Just because you can’t get it instantly, it doesn’t mean you should get everything handled over to you on a silver plate.

This armour is something to work for, and if you want it, work for it. Otherwise, don’t just because you can’t have it instantly.

I just figure if it cost 40 gold +, it should look something special.

I would happy to pay twice more if the armour look more special. I don’t know. Like have more FX like surrounding with lighting, an evil/good aura, butterfly and bee, etc.

As to the stats I am not too worry by it, that why I am wondering why A-net make them rare instead of just skins like the heritage set.

I’m going for cultural because I don’t see a lot of people wear them, and it fits my character better than the dungeon armor. A sylvari with flamy armor seems a little bit off in my opinion.

It’s worth the effort for me, but to each his own.

Did the obsidian armor look good in GW1? Hell no, most of the classes had ugly as hell obby armor, yet rich people wore them to show off they’re rich.

It’s the same deal for GW2, some of the cultural T3 armor looks really good(asura heavy and light, norn heavy, human medium female) but it’s mostly just something expensive for rich people to buy to show off their money.

Imho some of the T1 and T2 sets look better than T3 and because the sets need a transmute to lvl80 exotic pieces with the right stats anyway, looking for the lower Tiers just saves a lot of gold. I agree the T3 prices seem pretty insane for what you get but 50G would still be too much for a mere rare set. You’re not paying for the stats and item rarity though but for something unique to your race so I wouldn’t want to see this changed if I’m honest.

My thoughts exactly!

I think these are supposed to be prestige skins, all of them since they all have exceptional racial cosmetic value. I think T3 should be lowered, while T1 and T2 should have a price increase, so it’s sort of a climb but not the 7g to 120g between T2 and T3. More along the lines of 15g between set and T3 being 50g or so.

I know this was 7 days ago and I hope I’m not to late for this discussion. But I agree with the price beeing too high.

As of right now I have 736 hours played, and have roughly 40 gold(I’ve spent probably the same or more obviously).

Now what I don’t understand is how I’ve done the(not accurate but just trying to make a point) same pve in a few months of gw2 that I’ve done in gw1 for 3/4 years of playing.

I enjoy leveling alts and trying new classes but the time/money ratio on that is not good enough. I have 2 level 80’s atm and one at 40. I do some Dungeon runs. I have even succumbed to making Orr node runs. I still only have 40 gold total on my account, wich is not even half for a full Tier 3 set.

When I started the game and saw the prices I thought that it was easy to get there with “enjoyable gameplay”(subjective term I suppose). And it’s not. It doesn’t make sense that from tier2 to tier 3 there’s a 1700% increase in price(forgive me if my math is wrong, it’s late)

I also realize that there were very expensive armors in gw1(obsidian is the only one i remember tbh), but that was a “dungeon” armor, not a vender one. There were also extremely expensive weapons, but I’m fine with that as it’s just one piece of my entire character.

I don’t know if any of my rambling makes sense, but I guess the TL;DR version of it is that the price is not friendly for people who don’t like much grind like me. I already post-poned a lot of dungeon armors because I have little patience for pretty much the same content over and over and I’m kinda tired of this system(for armor at least. For some reason weapons don’t bother me as much). And I think it should be toned down.
Just my opinion.Hope someone reads this >-<

well most of it earn it legitly. Legitly gold IS hard to come by. We all can not blow real life money on gems and cash in for gold. Besides I heard the gem vs gold payoff is a pretty low in comparison to the cost of Real life cash you use. Last I heard it was 35$ give 15 gold. That is a pretty dang low amount of gold for 35$.

Also there are a few handful of people that DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY GOLD FROM SELLERS. There are already tomany people buying gold from these sellers we do not need more.

So yeah the stuff is to expensive in game.

Reading comprehension would help. One argument was about the cost. One. And it was the last point made.

All these posts make it seem like the OP was complaining that they cost too much. No.

The OP was stating that for the cost, we get bland armor, that then needs to be transmuted (another cost to get the lvl 80 stones for transmuting), and they have no runes. You’re paying for a skin. Fine. Make it a worthy skin.

Only 5 sets are the Destiny’s Edge armors. The other 10 sets are a toss up of good sets and crap sets. Look at the Charr as an example of extreme mediocrity. Are you into S&M leather fetishes? Then they are perfect.

Want to make them 500g? 1000g? Fine! I’d love that. Make them look like they are worth 1000g then.
