I love almost everything about this game, I also just hit 80 tonight. But I can’t get over how irritating it is that in order to get the daily, you have to do 5 Dynamic Events. I can get everything else just by naturally playing and exploring, but with the small population around the leveling zones, there’s almost no events.

I’m sure now that i’m 80 and I can go to Orr and Cursed Shore I’ll find plenty of events and get it easily, but that doesn’t solve the chore-like feel that leveling has when getting your daily.

The 5 events are usually the first I end up completing, although sometimes it’s the gathering. The one that’s super annoying is killing 15 different enemy types. On days where I decide to complete the daily, I almost always have to go way out of my way to make that one happen.

Just saying this in case you didn’t know.

-You have 24 hours to find 5 events on any of your characters in any zone at any level.
oDungeon events count
-You can do this on a character you’re leveling to make the event + daily rewards go further.
-Cursed Shore and other Orr zones are great for events but are very repetitive and grindy. You can choose to do it quickly (if for some reason 24 hours isn’t enough to do your daily) or just spread it out over the course of a few hours on more than 1 character.

I find that I just get the dailys done by playing the game and not really worrying about it. Even when I log on with 0% of the daily done and it’s like 30 minutes or so from resetting I can still do it without even setting foot in Orr.

Well then have some free advice. Go to Queensdale or Plains of Ashford. You can’t walk more than 20 feet without finding an event in those places.

There are a lot of quickly respawning events. Mainly the farm right across the first bridge, the dam area, the place with the huge pipes, the farm at the southern end of the map, nearly everywhere. The wasp to the north east, the Skritt events, there are tons.

And if that doesn’t work for you, before you even get 1/4 of the way across the Plains of Ashford map, I can list off 10 events that respawn in under 30 minutes.

Well, I’m pretty casual. I play for maybe 60 or 90 minutes a day. I rarely go back to a city. I just explore and go wherever whimsy takes me (it’s a beautiful world to just get lost in). I easily stumble across multiple events this way, since I’m not moving through areas very fast, in addition to a few hearts/vistas/etc. It’s a fun and very low-stress change from most other games in this genre (probably because there’s no monthly fee so I don’t feel like I need to “get my money out of it”).

The only times I haven’t enjoyed the game as much is when I’ve felt compelled to do very specific things, in order to pick up achivements (or e.g. to consume the Halloween content before it disappeared). But I don’t fault the game for that, I know it’s mostly a function of how I choose to play.

Yeah you’re right. And the good thing about dailys is there’s no drawback for not doing them. I mean you won’t get the coins or karma jugs, but chances are if you play that little and are mostly casual, then you won’t need the coins or all that much karma anyway :]

queensdale, kessex hills all have events galore : ))) plus you can easily get the 15 enemy types done. and if you aren’t farming for high-level mats especially just invest in some low level harvesting tools and mine / chop / harvest on your way doing the events.

sometimes the dailies take time, but it’s not too bad. and seeing that you get an additional 4.5k karma from every daily? i really can’t complain at all.

most of the time though, i’ll get the daily achievement without even knowing it! just immerse yourself in the world, exploring, running to all events that spawn. true, if dailies are “easy” enough to get, we should all do so.. but if you have limited time, might as well enjoy the game for what it is and get your “sense of satisfaction” ther einstead. but that’st just my personal opinion and ho wi play the game : )))

The daily is a walk in the park. If you have trouble finding events just quickly join the Orr zerg. Since you are fresh to 80, in addition to the huge chunks of karma you get from the daily, you’ll be spending a lot of time in orr farming karma from the zerg. Alternatively you can run dungeons which also give karma.

Depending on where I am on my main, I’ll switch to my Charr first (who has set up camp in Plains), and do some 5 easy events first. And some extra variety. Somehow, as soon as I have my 5 events done, the events keep rolling in… If I decide to get them all on my main, I never see one…

About the variety, I move too slowly to easily get the 15 different kills. I always seem to walk in circles…

And about having 24 hours to complete it… Could be. But of those 24 hours, I maybe have about 2 hours a day to actually play. I can’t do some before work and some during work and some after work….

Events are rarely what keeps me from completing the daily, it is usually the different enemy types. Dungeons don’t have too many of them, Orr is just undeads. I usually have to go out of my way to fulfill that quota. One of the easiest ways I found is doing WvW, events galore and enemy types too, even gathering is no problem there.

The person who suggested queensdale gets a medal. Sometimes a busy day comes around and I dont get much chance to play. When that happens I pop over to queensdale and in less then 30 mins I would have the whole thing done from start to finish.

It doesnt even have to be your main, you can just leave an alt there.

The dynamic events requirement is pretty easy to do in my opinion, “the worst” part like others pointed out is the different enemy types.

Have you realised that each dungeon boss or challenge counts as an event, you will do most of them in one run of AC, which is easy, nets you tokens, quite a few enemy types and your karma and xp.

Easy way, apart from the gathering bit, of gaining lot of rewards in a very short time.

It depends so much on your playstyle.

Endgamers/grinders/hardcores will get events very easily, but due to the fact that Orr is way more effective at making gold than other maps are, kill variety becomes the chore.

Dungeon runners get everything done quickly except for gathering.

Explorers and levelers can suffer trying to find events. Not just for the dailies, but for fun, profit and experience too.

Personally I think that without the need for loot groups (binding people to Cursed Shore because its the only place to maintain one) and better loot scaling, we could get the population to spread to the other maps a little more.

I don’t see what the big deal is… On a daily basis I just take a trip to Queensdale to get my Daily Achievements and I can get them all in about 15 or so minutes because there’s events everywhere and everything is easy to kill.

Plus in a lot of scenarios it helps out the new and lower level players, especially when they’re getting slapped around from the Champion Pirate Captain, Queen Wasp and Champion Cave Troll.

no. I would find it actually harder to avoid finding myself drawn into 5 events while playing on any pve map. The “too few players” argument is void, the vast majority of events can be done solo without any difficulty. If you cannot do this very easy task, then you do not deserve a daily “achievement” imo.

If you have a problem with the 15 different enemy types, I’d highly suggest heading to the metrica province, the lab in the very northwest corner of the map where the world boss fire elemental spawns. There’s at least 20 different enemy types that spawn there, from boars and steam golems to oozes and quaggans.

Like Wanderer said – go to WvW. They have all 15 different types, they have all the nodes, you can knock the events out if you get in a good Zerg, and you can work towards your 50 kills for monthly. Also don’t say “I hate PvP, why must I go there?” either because I hate PvP but WvW is far from PvP if in a good group. It is no different then Plinx in CS TBH.

Parking an alt in Queensdale or another zone with regular event chains works very well. Centaurs everywhere seem hellbent on mounting hopeless attacks every 5 minutes.

I also have only a little over an hour a day to play and I usually just wander around on my main and participate in everything I find. When I think I only have ~20 minutes to play, I check what I’m missing and log to an alt and finish it.

Oh btw, all those critters with white names seem to count for different types too.

You could try Bloodtide Coast, it’s easily one of my favorite zones in the game. It has Quaggan, Hyleks, and pirates! It is also a nice and colorful zone, like if I lived in Tyria would want to vacation there if not for the pirate operations in the region. Considering the Pact’s capability of dealing with the risen on their home turf it’s reasonable to assume they could easily dispatch of the pirates if they wanted.

For dailies I used to do Frostgorge due to the extra mithril and elder nodes, and ori nodes had easy access. There was also a chance for a dragon fight. However, lately I’ve been going to Gandarran Fields due to its lack of risen and proximity to Lion’s Arch. It’s not great for events though, but I love beating up on those pirates, they’re like this zone’s risen with rapid spawn rate and mobs attacking you just when you’re already finished a battle.

When players have full health and all CDs open the mobs aren’t that tough, and boy do the mobs know this about themselves!

Have a low level alt get kill some random things in a noob zone, gathering and hitting DEs if you see any. Don’t finish the daily though. Just spend about ten minutes in a noob zone killing different types of mobs as fast as possible.

Now switch to your main and finish the daily. Why? Higher payouts when you complete it on higher level characters.

Switching characters saves you the time and WP cost of bouncing around and saves you the time in hunting down that “kill variety” types.

As others’ have mentioned, Orr is a good place to clear out DEs fast. If, however, like myself you hate Orr. Frostgorge has several areas that have lots of events.
If you catch the Claw of Jormag event, you’ll be done really fast and get a chest at the end. If you miss it, hit up the Dredge area to the west. Lots of quickly repeating DEs in there as the Dredge and Kodan fight over the mines.

-hope that helps

Enemy types is the only annoying one and I tend to forget which types I killed already so I’m constantly re-killing certain foes. ORR has more than 1 enemy type. You have forest boars and the wild cats in the jungle/forests as well yet that will leave you with 12 more to find elsewhere. I usually just fill the whole daily up on an alt nowadays as it seems the chest reward is more biased against lv 80s.

I’ve only missed my dailies a few times.

Once due to doing nothing but dungeons for a day (yuck).
Once due to being ill and not feeling like playing more than a few minutes.
Once when I had to log early Thursday night, and then went out Friday night.
Three times due to having messed up Internet (Verizon Business DSL is horrible at times) and barely being able to connect, yet alone do anything productive.

What is most “difficult” to get depends on what I’m doing.

When I’m in a 1-15 zone, it’s easy just with standard play. There is so much variety, and so many available events that getting dailies is not any effort.

Certain zones are extremely event packed, and also have the ability to get variety with just a little running around. Mount Maelstrom, Fireheart Rise, Frostgorge Sound (especially if I catch a Claw of Jormag fight), and Sparkfly Fen seem especially good. Diessa Plateau, part of Blazeridge Steppes, Kessex Hills to a lesser extent.

If I spend a lot of time in Orr, it’s not possible to complete the variety, even when counting Straits of Devastation. I get the other things, and before I log for the night, I go to Lion’s Arch to bank/sell/restock, and take a few minutes running up to Gendarran to finish out the variety.

Some of the mid-level zones are fairly event sparse, so that can take some time. I still generally have no problem getting the five to complete the dailies. Lornar’s Pass is a prime example.

I am forced into doing Frostgorge every day for my daily. It has more than 15 enemy types.

I had trouble getting 5 events until I discovered the one NW of the southern entrance to Frostgorge. There is a hill with Svanir and 2 ballistas.
Event 1: clear them out
Event 2: defend it when they try to take it back
Event 3: Escort dolyaks from there heading West
Event 4: Stop the summoning event when you arrive.

I do those 4 and the Norn Supplies to the east of there for my 5 daily. Repetitive yes, but it works.
Up north, there’s The Claw of Jormag for 3-4 events, and the dredge at Slough of Despond isn’t too hard to at least participate in. You don’t need to fully complete the event, leave some for other people to get theirs in.

Also Jormag has more than 3-4 events, each of the summoned crystals in the pre-event count as an event for the daily… get all of those and you’ll have your daily events done np. Just smack each crystal around for a little while. No need to actually take it from full→dead.

It’s possible because it doesn’t take a whole zone of killing to get 5 events done. You can often get 5 events done in one or two heart areas if you’re lucky, meaning you killed maybe 3-5 different types of enemies.

I also have the different enemy types always be last to complete.

Please. Every zone does not have 30+ enemy types. The following zones are impossible to complete your daily in:

- All of Orr. Even if you go back to Straits of Devestation, it’s not possible.
- Southsun Cove. Karka, skelks, fish, drakes…last time I tried I believe there were 11 types? Regardless, it was less than 15.

Frostgorge may have enough enemy types if you included critters, but I believe I’ve tried it there before and failed.

Regardless, whilst you might get your dailies naturally during leveling, at end game you emphatically do not.

It’s the 15 enemy types that gets me. If I’m playing a toon in Orr, well, you have to leave. The vast majority of the enemies there are type “Risen”.

Dynamic events are pretty easy. WvW makes it almost automatic as everything involving capturing or defending points counts. In most zones, there are way more dynamic events going on at once than you need to actually complete that part. Even some of the stuff that happens in dungeons counts as an event.

The biggest problem I have with dailies is that I’m now at 50+ karma jugs in my bank, and that’s after outfitting a couple toons in head to toe exotic karma armor and making it a point to buy stuff from karma vendors all the time. I also have drops, gulps, etc of karma from dungeons and running Winter Wonderland daily, and yet, nothing I actually want to buy with all that.

Honestly I find the dailies darn near perfect. If you are 80 and playing end game content you will also have issues with 15 unique kills. So the answer for me is when I have everything else, I will go to a lower zone for my unique’s and sometimes an additional DE or two. But to me just the right length for the solid reward.

I usually get most of my foe types there and its part of an event as well.
Another event immediately follows and you fight Vollym. You may have to wait

2 events + foe types in one spot , what a deal
Its a quick run from LA and you can do gathering along the way.

White enemies count as 1 type. But Frostgorge has plenty.

Ice Brood
Svanir
Griffon
deer
veteran lemon scented pine soul
grawl
drake
earth elemental
raptor
moa
critters
longhorn ram
arctodus
troll
ice imp
ice elemental (if I missed the earth elemental)
dolyak
ice wyrm
dredge
oozes in the jumping puzzle

Then the underwater enemies:
jellyfish
sea scorpion
ice shark
barracuda
skelk
polar bears
Veteran Largos – event

In areas I don’t hit often:
champion quaggan (might count as ice brood)
bats
leopard
maybe more!

I do mine in Wayfarer foothills (norn starter area) and it takes less than 15 mins usually. Deer, stag….heck, even rabbits and fish count towards differing enemy types and starting with dredge event, drake broodmother, ice sculpture and then into grawl event takes no time at all. Plus you get plenty of low level mats for gearing up alts a few levels from doing it….
