shallow gameplay? On paper, the concepts and ideas are great (Dynamic events, organic grouping). In reality, everyone is plodding all over the map doing their own thing, making grouping and playing together in a meaningful, strategic way almost a thing of the past. Maybe it’s just the huge GW1 fan in me talking, but i really feel that the combat offers nothing in the way of depth. It seems that without a healer paradigm to change up how things flow, combat degrades to a DPS match. It doesn’t feel like i matter as an individual contributing skill to accomplish difficult tasks. The content is busted wide open and it’s like everyone is “alone together.” I feel as if i’m playing only for completion in PvE when the gameplay reeks of Assassin’s Creed-like busy work and tasks. There is not one single ounce of reliance or synergy on or between classes except for the homogenized combo system. I don’t find mobbing up and zerging everything to kingdom come to be an engaging and stimulating aspect in MMORPGs. I can’t quite put my finger on how this game feels, but i know for certain that it doesn’t feel right. In GW1, i loved grouping with other people for diversity and tests of skill or competency. In GW2, i feel like i’m playing a single-player game. The personal story is the only saving grace in PvE and even then it’s extremely linear. The combat further degrades what could be had from this experience. Instead of a reactionary experience, i just spam my DPS and then revive. It just feels 1 dimensional and watered down in comparison to GW1. I feel that grouping is redundant outside of dungeon content and even then, it’s shallow because of the combat system. I don’t play MMOs for single-player experiences or shallow zerg combat mechanics. I’m thinking that this game isn’t going to have the same longevity of GW1 if they keep to this path. Thoughts? Please, no rabid fanboy attacks. I just want to discuss this rationally and hopefully bring it to the attention of developers. Maybe these feelings are intentional and the game is just not for me. I’d like some mature discussion.

Holy wall of text, Batman.

No, I don’t feel that way at all. Maybe you just like being a little errand boy for random NPCs all over the world.
