The only way I see this happening legitimately is in wvw.

I see maybe 2 dead players in pve exploration and one will waypoint away before I can get to them.

Rezzing an NPC feels like cheating. People are jumping off cliffs for each other at 3:30 server time to get this done.

I think 10 is far more than most players could accomplish through natural playing.

Temple events and Jormag are great ways to get pve player rezzes.

I don’t see NPC rezzing as cheating, since it’s supposed to be a dynamic world where even NPCs are meant to be important. Therefore keeping them alive is very much in the spirit of the game

The idea with the dailies is for them to be achievable through normal play. There are a lot of renown hearts where the objectives include rezzing various NPCs who are found lying around for precisely this purpose. Many DEs need you to rez NPCs when defending or retaking an outpost.

All part of normal play, no cheating involved. I still make a real effort to rez other players and will go out of my way to do so if a see someone downed on the map.

I’ve never had a problem. If i’m doing a dungeon run it is really easy. Same with a fractal run. If I am leveling an alt it is also easy, wondering around doing events usually has lots of players and NPC’s I can help. If I am making money on my main it is easy, always plenty of people to rez during temple/dragon events.

I didn’t say NPCs are cheating, I said it feels like cheating. Meaning, it doesn’t feel like what they were tryign to encourage when adding this to daily. Just a way to get the meter filled up. Cliff jumping is the same.

I agree they should be gotten 90% through normal play, and some extra effort to finish any that weren’t 100%. But I searched for about 30 minutes on a map yesterday and couldn’t find more than 1 anything to rez. I don’t want to be tied to Jormag to get my daily done. I did frostgorge daily for 3 months for the old repetitive daily. I want to be able to explore and get my daily anywhere.

There are all kinds of places out in the open world where stacks of dead NPCs lay around waiting for you to rez them. The hunters strewn across the landscape like dead leaves as you enter SnowdenDrifts comes to mind immediately, and the south end of Sparkfly Fens you can hardly swing a risen cat without knocking its whiskers off on a keeled-over Sylvari.

This objective really can’t be considered hard, can it?

Totally agree. For the most part the GW2 community are very good at this. There is a small amount of people who you risk your neck for and rez, then they just run off without a thank you or anything. Also had situations where I’ve killed the enemy, rezzed the player and then died myself AND then they ran off without healing me

I believe the important point is: Do you still rezz dead or downed players even when you already completed your daily by rezzing NPCs?

To be perfectly honest, no. Since being introduced into the daily I find that I ignore downed player/NPC markers unless I still need them to complete my daily. And, should the latter be the case, I abandon everything else (even allowing multiple mobs to beat on me in the process) just to make sure I get a resurrection opportunity in. But, as I see it as a chore to be completed now, once I’m done with it.. I’m done with it.

Heck, I used to go out of my way to save battling NPCs who appeared to be close to death. Now I wait for them to die so I can resurrect them and get credit in the daily for it. This is a complete change from how I normally used to play the game, and I hate how it has altered resurrections in my mind. They have gone from a means of helping other people to a repetitive task I have to complete almost daily.

In normal open-world PvE play (which is where I spend most of my time) I don’t normally run across a lot of downed players/NPCs. I just don’t. I used to make an effort to keep player characters and NPCs alike alive, making resurrections unnecessary. Now I find myself hoping PCs/NPCs around me die. Adding this requirement to the daily was a mistake, in my opinion. Maybe had the requirement been “revive 3” instead of 10, I’d stress about it a lot less and find it fitting more naturally into the game.

Usually can find quite a few people getting downed during Temple events, especially during the champion abomination event in Orr. He just plows through a ton of people, and lots of people to res. That or exploding chickens, never fails.

I don’t see anything wrong with ressing NPCs. Its easier then finding players and hoping they are bad or have people purposely kill themselves or down themselves. Plenty of hearts allow NPC ressing for completion, why not dailies. That and always a ton of NPCs are dead somewhere.

I think its capable to get through natural playing, but its one of the things you have to kind of keep a look out for. Same thing with dodging one, kind of have to keep an active mindset that you should be dodging when it counts as evade, as opposed to early dodging or just generally moving out of the AoE. Either one can be done normally, just sometimes quicker if you are actively looking for it.

As far as ressing people after I finish my daily. If a lot of people around that are actively ressing I won’t, just because of the daily and I don’t want to take anyones attempt away if they need one. But I will help every chance I get. If its a really big event with a lot of people, and players are regularly getting res capped then I just let everyone else do it.

So many posts like these and I really think they have no place in these discussions (no offense meant). What they amount to is this: if you want to complete this step of your daily, go spend your time in some spot you otherwise likely have no interest in being.

And that (at least originally) was not supposed to be the point of daily achievements. Daily achievements were supposed to be small, quick, achievable goals players could accomplish effortlessly through normal play during their limited schedules.

If you’re suggesting that someone go to a particular location or do a particular task to accomplish a step in the daily achievement, that’s the furthest thing from what the daily is supposed to be. I’m glad players are figuring out “the best spots” to grind out the daily achievement, but that is so not the answer.

I believe the legitimacy (or lack thereof) of reviving NPC’s is a personal issue, rather than a gameplay one. I believe it is legitimate in the minds of the devs because they coded it to work that way.

This daily requirement has in fact changed my playstyle. Absent the daily, if I come upon a player in the downed state, I take a quick look at their downed health and the health of the mob they’re engaging. If it looks like I can get them up more quickly by killing the mob to get them a rally, I do so. If that daily is active, I revive them, no matter what.

Ressing downed players also counts. So WvW, Dungeons, Fractals, Dragon events, Orr temples, Orr DE chains, Hirathi Shaman Chain, Champion Kol….this list can keep going.

And of course there is ressing NPCs if you are feeling particularly lazy. The reactor has little Asuran bodies all over the place that will let you boost it.

Not to mention you already need dungeons for the monthly, and events for most dailies. This category is done naturally just playing while pursuing the others. If you are just wandering around Queensdale with a finger up your nose waiting for players to get downed in front of you…you’re doing it wrong. And as inefficiently as possible.

Yes…except on those occasions you see a guy fighting a thing and losing, so you jump in to help and he runs off without so much as a word when it’s dead and looted. Then a few minutes later the situation is reversed and instead of helping, he just runs right through the middle of your fight. I have not once gone out of my way to get the Daily Healer achievement done. Here are the areas I seem to get it done the fastest, and without NPCs required:

WvW – find a keep assault or defense. Got 10 heals in about 5 mins last night defending SM

Fractals / dungeons – 1 fractal daily PuG met this requirement last time I went this route

Any large meta-event (dragons, temple events, Harathi shaman chain) – plenty of people get downed during the long boss events at the end of these chains

EDIT: come to think of it, last night I finished dodges, healer, kills and events without leaving the walls of SM. Yay for new dailies (except UW kills)

I usually have to rez NPC’s. I dont know if that counts as legitimate.

When I play with my guild we all generally do not die. Or if they do go down its generally much faster to rally them via killing, which I do not believe counts.

and when I go to WvW im usually the first one to go down/die. Lots of people have a hard time engaging in zerg fights, they like to let someone else go first. That person is usually me. Also im a big fan of sneaking around behind the zerg and smashing them in the back, which happens to put me both right in the middle of every enemy, and also in the way of their soon to be retreat path.

So I usually just find and rez some npcs somewhere. (If I get the ascalon fractal doing my dailies it’s pretty GG, as you get at least 5-6 rezzes from that)
