I’ve looked around a lot and can’t find an answer to this. Does height and from that race have an affect on skill trajectory or targeting trajectory?
In other words are the “release” points of different size characters the same or adjusted vertically for height?

For example if I am the smallest Asura will affect the distance I must stand from a tower rampart wall compared to the tallest Norn when firing an arced skill such as Cluster Bomb to make it clear the wall and land outside the tower.

I don’t believe so; your hitbox and the space your character occupies should be the same.

In jumping puzzles it does because of camera. Asura have an easier time on low clearance jump puzzles such as Troll’s End.

It mostly affects camera height, which is sometimes bad and sometimes good. Regarding your specific question in WvW, I get a lot of “obstructed” messages when shooting at people on top of tower walls but I don’t know if taller races see the same thing. Fortunately WvW uplevels you, so you can just make a level 1 of a tall race and a short race and grab a bow and try it out.

When I first considered the topic, I thought no, there is no effect to height, but you are right; character navigation is an effect of character size. My Asura is a breeze with puzzles or challenging vistas. My Norn would often prefer to fall to his death. Maybe you can RP into this that Norn’s are too proud to be subjected to something as silly as a jumping puzzle.

The smaller the character the faster it seems to move because you are closer to the ground. Take an Asura vs a Norn, one feels quick, the other lumbers.

Also easier to see over to view potential threats better.

In mmo’s it’s typically a benefit to go small for those kind of things. But other very specific things like true speed, hit boxes, jump distances are always the same for balance. And if not, oh oh.

I’d like to think not but its very hard to suggest it definitely couldn’t, i mean my asura is the smallest size i could make it and my non the contrary.

When standing next to a human, my Norn’s crotch is around the hight of the humans head. By that assumption the reference point for the human projectile is around my thighs o.O I’d hate to see the difference with Asura. However we can assume that trajectory is adjusted slightly to compensate in order to give an average trajectory based on hight; or that isn’t as the case is.

Point being its not very hard to calculate a little hight variable to fix any issues (:

Yea My charr’s bow fires from what looks like the proper place but my bow seems to hit terrain higher than it should.

My guess is that the game calculates the parabola at a universal height for all size characters, but renders the arc appropriate to the size and assumes the difference will be hard to notice.

My charr ranger often gets obstructed messages where it looks like the projectile should have just barely made it. Which leads me to believe the rendered parabola and the actual calculated one have different values for "c" in the function. To try to keep everything fair, but keep it from looking like charr and norn fire arrows from their crotch.

I like to have my camera a little above my character looking down at the action. The problem with asura is that you can’t look down at the action because they are so short. I’m constantly having to lower the camera so I can look up at what’s happening. I would like ANet to move the camera center from their head to something a little higher.
