Q:
Does /stuck do anything?
Nah, they’d rather you spend the cash and teleport out. No way are they going to give you a free teleport option.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
I just want a teleport of 2 steps to the left. Can I have an appropriate waypoint fee for that distance?
Teleport to lion’s arch from heart of the mist for free.
it’ll still cost me 10 minutes in loading and travelling back to where I was map exploring

That’s bunk ofc, you ALWAYS have a free option: go into the mists, use the LA portal and carry on from there.
Glad to help out. ^^

Yes, really helpful if you get stuck by a vista in Cursed Shore!
To get back to that vista you’re either going to have to spend hours running back there from LA or money teleporting back to the nearest waypoint.
Glad to help out indeed.

It’s a free teleport, so it debunked your post. ’nuff said.
If you are actually stuck (I don’t know how the game knows it) then if you do /stuck it will come up with a message “your location has been logged, please use the nearest waypoint”. I don’t know if the waypoint costs money.
I have been “actually stuck” (fallen through the world; run through the side of an object and been unable to reverse direction) and /stuck DID NOT provide any message or serve any other purpose. I have been in locations where I could not move at all, but could only turn around in place, and /stuck did nothing.
I have used /bug in all of these cases to alert ANet, but /stuck has been useless.
This is no excuse for /stuck not working, but next time try using your Hall of Monuments stone. When you leave your HoM, it’s supposed to put you back exactly where you were; but if you were somewhere you were not supposed to be, it’ll put you a few steps away.
Usually this winds up doing exactly what /stuck should do; you don’t have to spend money using a WP.
Ah, now THAT’s a good suggestion Chuo!
There’s an unescapable gap between the boat and a cliffside by the easier jumping puzzle in Southsun Cove; the boat with the champion skelk on it. I may give that a try, see if the HoM stone trick works.

I’ve been stuck inside of various terrain objects in Fractals (such as the Grawl Shaman’s pedestal, the Braziers on the last Colossus encounter, go go Guardian teleports) where /stuck is actually useful. If you use the command you’ll get a prompt of “Your position has been logged, if you do not move in X seconds you will be teleported.” or something along those lines. After a while you get teleported to the last checkpoint or the start of the instance zone.
The only problem is that, if you are in combat with say the Archdiviner killing you with now unavoidable agony stacks from his crouching AoE, you won’t get unstuck until combat drops. Fortunately, usually, at some point you’ll glitch the enemy with invul and they’ll drop you from their aggro table and you’ll drop out of combat. (The agony is only a problem after 26+ with my 0 AR, and his whitewash agony will not hit you so most of it isn’t even a problem.)

i’m surprised how few people know that if you go to the the mists and you open the pvp window in the mists you can just go back to your original location. You are not forced to go through the lions arch portal.
I’ve been stuck about 5 times since the beginning (last one was last night when I used sword leap to try to get on top of a building and I fell only partway through it in Mt. Doom area). Each time I’ve had to waste quite a bit of silver to get unstuck. Getting stuck in objects I don’t mind so much, its getting stuck in a hole/dip in the terrain and not being able to get out (had it happen in Orr and in Southsun Cove) that really bugs me. Didn’t know about the /stuck command, but looks like it doesn’t really do anything?

Except, won’t that put you back right where you started, still in a inescapable location?
Thanks for the suggestion Chuo, I’ll have to try the HoM trick next time.
Please give us a keyring…

Yeah, it’ll shove you back into your stuck position.
I should have tried the PvP in and out idea. I figured it would put me back where I was though.
The /dance command helped a little. I was in a tiny space, still able to take about 1 step forward, so not immobilized (which might be why I didn’t get any message when trying /stuck). But /dance as a human slid me up the edge a little during the side step part. It didn’t get me out, but it might in some cases.
It’s most annoying because it was a barrier with big gaps that realistically my guy could easily have climbed through. But the gaps were treated as solid. I also couldn’t teleport to enemies through it with my Guardian Sword 2 skill because I couldn’t target them.
