The game seems to be crashing a lot on me recently. Is anyone else having this issue?

More often now than before but my computer has always had a problem zoning in and out of WvWvW to Lions Arch. Not sure why.

Could you provide more information? Does it crash a few minutes into the game? Crashes while the launcher loads? What error message do you get?

My game was constantly crashing while trying to start up a few months back and it turned out, to my dismay, it was my hard drive that was failing. Didn’t think this was the case since everything seemed to work except GW2.

I had something similar to that; the game would freeze up completely for up to 10 seconds or so. My hard drive died not long after that.

Is it just GW2 that causes this error, or does it happen in other applications?

I’ve been having a problem that only started in the last couple of weeks too, but is different from yours, when I am in combat the screen just freezes for a few seconds, nothing moving , then suddenly bursts back into action. It happens repeatedly, mostly in story instance or dungeons, but can happen anywhere. It is really annoying and I don’t know if it is my pc, my internet or the game :/

Check the threads on the technical support forum. I was running Windows XP 32 bit client and crashing every 1 to 2 hours. The error log said out of memory errors. I checked the tech support forum and found there were problems with the 32 bit client running out of memory. I upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit and haven’t had a crash since. I tried Windows 8 first but didn’t like then new user interface.

Happens at least once a day for me. Usually after I have played one character for a long period of time. When I log onto another character and then zone, it freezes during zoning and never comes back and I have to hard reboot my comp.

My game boots me out all the time now. same problem where the game would lag and nothing moves and then I burst into action. I asked a computer tech about it, his response was this. “If you own a 2wire modem, and have Windows 8, you may have run into problem with connection.” so he suggested i get a Router that accepts Windows 8 and see what happens. FYI he got this information from forums about people having Internet connection problems and having a 2wire modem and windows 8.

All of a sudden (like the last week or two) my screen suddenly goes black and I have to completely reboot.

I have an HP laptop running Window 7 64 bit with integrated 3000 graphics. I have been playing since the beta without issue. This machine is only about a year and a half old. Even if my graphics are on the lowest settings and all I am doing is standing around crafting (no combat, no effects), it happens and of course it happens during Zerg/DE’s as well.

At least, when I log back on I usually maintain my progress (get credit for a DE or a daily) but I still miss out on looting the corpse of a champion. Last night I missed getting to a chest before it disappeared.

I wish I could say with certainty this started with the last update but I’m not sure it did. I wish I knew if it was a game issue, Windows 7 issue or hardware issue (maybe a bit of all). Taking small comfort in not being the only one but I sure would like this issue resolved.

I may just try a simple solution; back up my DAT and reinstall.

I find that this is memory intensive.Since I ask some of my guildmate that can play WvWvW without a crash most of them have a lot of RAM on their PC
Maybe upgrading to 8 GB might solve the problem.

No go, I already have 8GB of RAM. Even after running a client repair, is just crashed on me again. I meet the min system requirements for sure and I’m not getting an error message or any kind of warning.

My screen just goes black and then about a minute later my laptop just shuts down. I’m starting to think is a heat issue only I crash even when I am not taxing the system with a lot of combat.

Update: I deleted the entire GW2 folder in my C drive (saving my DAT as a back up) and reinstalled from the CD ROM. I didn’t crash at all tonight even during a crazy DE in Orr, with my graphics set to auto detect and the camera zoomed in on all my glorious mesmer glamour action.

I did DC once but my laptop never shut down and instead of just a black screen, I got the tell tale black screen with “the client was unable to connect, blah, blah, blah…” then I got a white screen withe game’s mouse pointer still visible and movable.

The new DAT file is on gig less than my back up. When I logged back in I was exactly where I was the last time I crashed before trying to reinstall (good and bad as I was surround by risen and had to race to a cliff to escape). Having lost no progression or accomplishments, I’m leaving things as they are. Especially since, if there were corrupted files, they may live on in my DAT backup.

I was able to happily shut the game down on my own tonight
