Doing Achievements To Pass The Time
I’m sure you aren’t the only one, but there is more to the Living Story than Achievements. There are entirely optional, and forever available, now.
Still, if the only thing you find enjoyable is EotM, I’m sure…. some day …there will be changes there, as well. =)
I just feel like they are giving us these repetitive achievements to occupy our time, instead of, something fun like more dynamic events. Think about how much more they could’ve done for Dry Top.
Why not a merchant escort? Why not rescuing someone stuck in a sandstorm? Bandits attacking the village?
Instead of doing the story all over again just for the achievements, and of course, just to keep us busy.
It’s almost like they’re using achievements now to give us something to do, instead of adding more content in what they release – which would give us something to do as well as enjoy.
It’s hard to explain, I just feel…well…bored :/ I think I’m part of the minority in that case since everyone else seems to love Dry Top and/or the state of the game in general.

They’ve been doing this ever since they started doing the Living Story. To me the Living Story has always been just another source of AP and unique rewards.

Every MMO I’ve ever seen gives players repetitive stuff flavored with virtual reward to make the repetition palatable. It seems to be a staple of the genre.

Yet judging from most of GW2’s posts regarding this you’d think that Anet came up with this system to avoid make “real” content. They don’t realize that their favorite MMO that they absolutely loved playing in the past had the same exact system with a different wrapping.
It’s all carrots on sticks people. All of it. Quit acting like you’re offended GW2 releases content that has carrots (Achievement points/reward chests) on sticks (various achievements to complete). You are all playing MMOs because you want the carrots on the sticks. Maybe you don’t like these carrots as much. Your opinions are your own. But don’t act like nobody likes the carrots. Because as far as I’m concerned everyone on this forum including myself scarfs carrots down like they’re going out of style.
Find the carrot-stick combo that is right for you.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

Haze = helping someone stuck in the sandstorm get to the medics area, actually a very rewarding event as it spawns a lot of mobs taht drop decent loot.
I forgt the name but there is another escort up top by the JP to get fallen crystals.
No bandits attacking the village, but there is a dustmite attacking the crash site event. as well as many other events.
Events get you geodes. Geodes get you recipes, or Lockpicks. Lockpicks get you dragonite + other various loot.
it’s really not a bad place to waste time. The lag lately has been the only reason I haven’t been doing it much, while i don’t have to use aspects that often, when you do any lag makes it nearly impossible to do it right.
