Dare I say it? I’m actually enjoying Silverwastes. Enough that I got distracted from gunning the LS path to wander around. I figured I would, and encourage others to, highlight the good design decision that went into the new zone.
Accessibility
Perhaps the most important thing, Silverwastes is accessible. Unlike Dry Top, it’s not a chore to move around in. So far as I’ve seen, any “jumping puzzle” content is suitably optional. (I will get you, Lost Badge on that cliff!) The map shows what’s going on, and I can make it to events in a timely manner.
Team play
…that isn’t (for lack of a better word) communism. Dry Top’s success tiers weren’t a terrible idea, but it’s inclusive for the entire zone. It’s a minor thing, but having that quasi-WvW feel in Silverwastes is actually interesting, since my contributions are more localized.
Rewards
I know a lot of people are going to be happy with the new armor set, and more importantly, the new armor not being gem store, but something to work for. I’m a little “Eh” on the lack of apparent goals for getting them, but I think I’m on the right track, since I have some of the collection started. And the increased magic find for stomping a mudhole in Mordy’s army is a nice bonus buff. The buff even says that it affects chests~
