Dolphins- repost
The number of creatures in this game versus the number of charmable creatures is laughable.
At launch i was shocked by how few creatures could be charmed, 18 months later and not a single creature was added to that short list.
ugh, anet, just ugh.
Because non-profit effort.
I dunno I had a whole menagerie before what the heck I should have an insane amount of animals… Where is my rangers legacy!!!

I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

Haha, and i never even noticed, shows how needed it was.
But you do raise a point i forgot,
why so many drakes, moas, spiders?
count them as one species and the short list gets even shorter.
In gw, i have an island-zoo full of creatures i charmed.
In gw2, i have a pocket full of slightly different sameness.
I’m just gonna go ahead and sound REALLY ignorant… but… what exactly does a dolphin bring to a fight?
I’m not judging now, if you want to.. you know… tame ‘happy tree friend’ familiars that more or less give you warm fuzzies, but… unless you’re strapping a torpedo or something to him, isn’t this like… don’t bring a dolphin to a knife fight kinda logic?
I’m actually only half trolling you here… I do actually kinda want to know what kind of damage to expect when I find myself at the “business end” of a well trained, possibly ill-tempered dolphin…
They had to SPAWN MORE OVERFLOWS!

Could have a sonic daze “attack”, confusion maybe. Fin-slap, head-butt ….
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
Haha, and i never even noticed, shows how needed it was.
Given the number of red lizards I see at world bosses, many people playing the Ranger profession have noticed.

Because for each species there’s a Trait that makes companions of that species gain new abilities… and a limited number of trait slots in the list.

I would expect an AoE confuse on f2 and some kind of ‘charge’ attack like the sharks, but probably delivering vulnerability or weakness instead of a bleed.

Its probably the most reasonable explanation, but… still seems kind of a stretch. Maybe the dolphin from Johnny Mnemonic. Radiation counts as a poison effect right?

Not all rangers do world bosses, not all rangers use that pet.
As i already know about the pet-traits, i am going to ignore that last bit like you did with my post.
My point was that the list is SHORT, and needs to be LONGER, a single pet in 18 months does not cure that.
Players who invested years into GW pet collection have come to GW2 and found it wanting.
Not all rangers do world bosses, not all rangers use that pet.
Never meant to imply either of those things… just saying “reefy” (mine’s actually named “The Red Terror”) has found a niche in the active slots of some, perhaps even many. Certainly not all.
I even organized a war-party of friends to clear me a path across Southsun so my 50th level rangers could go out and tame a reef drake and actually use it during the leveling up process.

I would agree, sonic daze and charge, heck in real life a dolphin can kill a shark, and some smaller whales.
I use my reef Drake on land, cause he looks cool. But in the water I want a dolphin they are more likely to be charmed then a shark to be honest and yet I have a shark. I own every animal I can in this game so far. And its been forever since I have been able to get anything new.
Also my spirit dolphins have, blind, confuse and I forget what the 3rd attacking one is and the last one is a healing dolphin along with my whale.

Sonic Attacks !!
All it needs are 3 Skills and a F2 Skills under the current System to work.
1) Sonic Scream
A loud Screaming that will deal Bleedings (to your ears)
2) Tackling
A fast rush attack tackling into a foe, dealign damage and makign the foe vulnerable.
3) Sonic Boom
A far ranged Sonic Attack that first dazes a foe and then adds with following hits a few stacks of Torment.
—-
F2) Decoy
The Dolphin buffs itself with Swiftness, Protection and Regeneration and becomes a decoy for enemies luring them away from you. If the dolphin still lives after the decoy duration is over, the ranger will receive then the same effect without the aggro effect, just the buffs.

Even though you were trying to troll: dolphins are actually very dangerous, they can kill sharks and they can even kill people. Killer whales are actually a species of dolphin and are probably the most dangerous type.
Just because an animal is usually depicted as friendly and tame doesn’t mean it isn’t dangerous, just look at teddy bears.
Because non-profit effort.
I dont know why you people keep discussing Bagel already told everything that need to be known…
Obvious troll takes factual damage. Ouch. Welp, guess I’ve been told. Well played, guys, well played.
I had a dolphin once. It flew away singing thanks for all the fish.
Was wondering when someone would play this card. Here is your complimentary towel and +1 internets! Have a nice day!
