"Dolyak farming"
I agree. I think I was there with you, and I needed the extra Karma and the ori node spot, but they just got mad at us, and started a verbal attack against us, lead by a commander . He kept using offensive language that could easily result in a ban, but those of us at the event were the only ones being harmed by his words, so no one reported him. I believe this is much of an over reaction for us just wanting to finish an event for some extra Karma and an ori node spot.

Calling out someone’s name on the forums will result in an infraction. Just so you know.
If someone is abusive in game, report them for their abuse and screenshot it. Best way to handle it.
These guys really need to learn to make their gold without preventing players like us from completing the events. Also the tone, the language is really unnecessary. Players like those really need to take breaks from time to time.
I agree, it was disrespectful and completely rude the way they were talking to us. I agree that sometimes players like that need to take breaks from the game.
Clearly having a cry on the forums will solve whatever the problem is perceived to be.
Incidentally whats the gold/karma per hour for this?
There are other posts that will answer your question on how much gold/karma per hour this farming method brings in. Please post there if you have nothing positive to say.
Champs that spawn in events for scaling are there to try to match the difficulty of the event for the number of people, it will be better if they dont give loot.
And please report in game all the people that “call names” to others.

Preventing you?
How are they exactly “preventing” you from completing events?
I hope you mean they are “telling” you. There’s nothing preventing you from finishing the quest. If your group is the minority of the run and doesn’t have enough people to finish the event, then tough luck.
If you are implying that they are using foul language, do not attempt to reason. Report+Block+Ignore. Continue your crusade on trying to finish the event…
PS:
I’m not a part of those zerg..
(facepalm)
This sounds similar to the elitist attitudes and behaviors of champ trains. Clearly some people weren’t hugged enough as a child.
I’m pretty sure if this type of behavior occurred in school or the workplace it would be classified as bullying.

What event is now being abused for farming purposes? I thought I heard someone in map chat last night mention something about dolyaks.
Knights of ARES, Dragonbrand
Good times, good memories
please tell me which event… I’ll gladly go there and finish it every single time I can.
There is apparently a escort event that when enough people are nearby produce a high number of champions. The trick seems to be to fail it before a certain point (not defending the NPC most likely) so that it starts over sooner.

Not if it was being dispensed by managers towards the peons.
I think it’s this meta event http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pact_Operation_Southern_Advancement
This is the only problem with these champ trains. The events are there for people to do if and when they want. Colin mentioned this at PAX during an interview when asked about farming. He said it isn’t a problem until you run into situations where someone kills a champion “out of order” and catches a lot of flack for it.
These instances have been increasing, and I fear it’s going to lead to alterations in how Champion bags are distributed. We already got a nerf in the bag loot.
Play nice people, and realize you don’t own the zone.
Verbal abuse in-game shouldn’t need to be tolerated.
Report, block, and then finish the event, and to hell with what they want to scream at you.
Angry little people like that aren’t worth anymore of your time after that.
… The human race would never have to worry about be oppressed again.”
I think trolls should have their computers smashed. ’Its all part of the game. U mad bro?’
Indeed, the process for this is screenshot, report and block.
There isn’t anything wrong with champ farming. (Well, okay there is, but it’s a problem with a root far deeper than any of this.) I do it on occasion for the social interaction, which is good 80% of the time.
But when you go farming you have to realize that you’re making order out of chaos and chaos can come back at any moment. You can’t dominate a zone, nor should you be able to.
As such, you can’t have half a plan. If a commander’s reaction to an unexpected twist is to cast blame and get hostile, then you’ve got a bad commander and the zerg should rightfully fall apart.
- The commander needs to communicate, so everyone knows what’s going on.
- They need to be friendly (or at least not act like a dolyak’s backside), so people will actually want to listen to them and do things with them.
- They need to be ready for change. If the zerg doesn’t get clear instructions about what to do in these situations, it’ll snowball. They’ll splinter off and even more things will go down out of order.
So if you’re not in the zerg, do your thing and ignore/report the abuse. But if you are in the zerg and this is going on, get a new commander or find a new zerg, because the problems are going to happen a lot more often.

Couldn’t you join them for a bit and just buy the ori that you would have got in a matter of minutes?
They’re wanting to give you more than the worth of karma and ori, but since it isn’t karma and an ori node, you want everyone else to bend to your will….
You want a burger, I give you 20 bucks, you complain that it isn’t a burger. shrug

This doesn’t work for me, because I play games to be immersed. If I agree to escort an NPC I don’t deliberately set him up to die so I can prosper.
If all you care about is loot then your way is no problem. If you care about playing an RPG as an RPG, it becomes a problem.
