Don't call old things "New"
I am pretty sure the term “New” here is just being used to show an item that has been newly added to the store compared to items that have been available for a long period of time, not that the item has never been added before.
It’s been the standard for them for a long time now, and people who have been here long enough realize what is actually a new item and what is not, so it’s not really that much of an issue to warrant paying someone to go into the coding an change it, is it?

Nothing of what is realeased in Gemstore today (29/9), or since a few days back, is new… still there are lots of things labeled “New”… Call them returning or something but not New!
They might be for F2P but not for us veterans.
Hahaha! I’ve thought the same thing… “New my kitten! What is this old kitten?!?” (Especially that skull cap/sailor beanie!) c’mon! :P
Well, they are new arrivals to the gem store after a hiatus. And there are an influx of new players who haven’t seen, or bought these things, so they are certainly new items to them.
How’s the view of the universe revolving around you?
A: That still doesn’t make then “New”, it makes them “returning”.
B: The entire game is new to people who just bought it. Shall Anet advertise it as such every time they update the game?
I never seen then before so it new to me, lol.
I also agree, it new items in the gem store, compare to what been in there.
I thought the same thing. I’d like to see an alternate icon for items that are being brought back, even temporarily.
“New” for items that have never been in the gem store before.
“Returning” for items that have been in the gem store before.
But it’s really such a minor complaint, in all honesty. I know what’s not actually new to the gem store when I see it.

If you’re a veteran, you should recognize that this is a traditional phrasing that ANet uses to announce “items newly added to the current options”.
I’m in favor of them using less ambiguous language. I doubt their current language is meant to be misleading.
2 reasons.
1. Newer players will be more incentivized to purchase if they know something is returning rather than new. Something that is returning has a more immediate feeling about it because you’re aware it will leave again.
2. It bugs me that you’re incorrectly using the word “new”
The first reason is just good business sense.
