Don't know the cause, but it's great.
I frequently end up with “loot sparkles” on me for no apparent reason. Some kind of temporary graphical bug.

Replaced with a longer, higher quality version.
Well, if they ever find the cause I hope they turn the effect into a potion, and sell it, lol.
Oh, is that a bug? I thought I had some kind of special boon or something on me occasionally. Yes, it is a nice surprise once in awhile.
I’d buy that potion
Yeah, it’s a bug. Also, you are the only one who can see the sparkles when you “catch the loot bug.” :P
Even if only I could see my own effect I’d buy it. In fact, I would prefer more effects for our characters that only we could see.
I still want to be able to hide the legendary, armor and spell effects of other players. :\

GW1 had a third-party application that was allowed called Texmod that this could be done with.

Indeed. That was great. I use TexMod for a lot of games.
It is actually permitted to be used for GW2, but the way the game’s textures are organized and how they interact with eachother pretty much limits and even removes the ability for the program to be functional or useful at all. However, I have seen some people manage to get different, unavailable colors for some of their weapons (shields specifically). Not sure how they managed it but there aren’t really even any texmod files available anywhere for specific alterations due to how hard it is. Everyone kind of just figured it isn’t worth the time and effort.

Oh, darn it! Now they’re going to mark this as the highest priority bug to fix, over everything else. Thanks a lot!
