lol…my typo
PLAY!
Yer wife plays?
More validation than Anonymous.6935 can give
Have fun actually playing…
My wife and I both have GWAMM from GW 1 and 50/50 in our HoM. This is what we do together. We’re both active in our guild. We’re like the guild “parents”. lol
Ok, you genuinely sound nice, so i’m sorry again if I offended you!
Nah I grew up in NYC. It’s really really hard to offend me. lol
Yeah, I stopped playing around 2 months after release of the game as Ele’s were very “squishy”….right before everyone started using this so called “OP” build.
Came back around 3 weeks ago, found and tried the build, loved it, was actually reasonable at the game and started to enjoy it lol…
Now, it seems that fun was short lived ha.
Eles are one of the hardest professions to play well. And games need hard professions to play to keep some types of players more challenged. We have a guy in my guild who can do pretty much anything in the game on his ele and he never uses a bunker build. I’m amazed when I watch him play.
He doesn’t go down on Lupi. He WvW’s and SPvPs. He’s really good…on a non-bunker ele.
But you know, that’s the trade off for that kind of profession. Me, I prefer my mesmer and my ranger, both of which are very survivable. I hate dying lol
So far the top three people on these forums whose opinions I respect are Vayne, tolunart and Tengu. I don’t agree with everything each of them says, but they offer insight and logic with the majority of their comments they make, and their opinions are of value to me. Thank you for that.
As for the topic.
I do not do PvP.
I do not do WvW.
I do not do dungeons.
I am strictly an open world PvE player; I level, I gear, I develop my appearance, I participate in events, I walk around Divinity’s Reach and the world taking pics and appreciating the gorgeous landscapes and atmosphere. I’ve enjoyed doing all of that and have non-stop over my 1,416 hours and 31 minutes of play time with my many characters. However, long ago I lost interest in leveling my Elementalist as it just seemed to play differently one day. A few months later I returned to her and it still felt really awful and I just couldn’t function completely solo with her anymore as I just seemed to be extremely weak.
I will give her another go and adjust to whatever changes may affect her abilities after this patch. If I can’t adjust, then back to one of the others for a while, it’s not a big deal to me.

Still.really fun to me…but it’s debatable why i guess

Well hey there. You’re one of the people I keep talking about. People who prefer open world content and just enjoy the journey. There are so many more of us than dungeon runners and farmers think. We really are legion. We just don’t talk on forums much, so thanks for speaking up.
Out of curiousity, have you ever tried playing in the world with your map markers off?
im waiting for tomorrow’s patch and see what changes they made to gw2 especially to WvW content. This is make or break for me. We been crying out loud since BWE days the things that needs improvement in WvW but we got zero. All they did was remove orbs, introduce skill lag and make some pointless wvw rank which is character bound.
Havent touched gw2 for 3-4 weeks now, if Anet doesnt listen to us im sorry but they wouldnt give me no other option but to jump the ship which i believe i already have.
om my GOOOOOOOOOOOOODD OP… ENOUGH!! every effing MMO is “stop nurffin my stuff!!” will you babies GET OVER IT??

:D \o_
Hello
I actually make it a habit to go with my HUD off for a while each time I play to really take in the feel of the environments and immerse myself into the atmosphere. It also makes battle scenes more exciting! I also keep some zone appropriate weapons on hand so I’m not 1-shotting enemies when I’m in a low-level zone since I am usually pretty decked out and down-scaling doesn’t work as well as it could. I aim to assist players in the areas if we’re together, not show them up. I cycle targets so as to not rip up enemies, disable auto attack and pace my shots and/or only use a pet to attack so I ensure those around me are able to get some hits in and get credit/loots.
We’re in the world together, as in real life, cooperation without ego for the benefit and fun for all is my goal.
Elementalist is one of the stronger classes but it’s dps is rather low compared to warrior. I won’t mind the changes because I hardly ever use mist form anyway the recharge sucks.
Must suck not being an unkillable God anymore… lol sorry but I can’t take this thread seriously.

Same here. Unless they give us some compensation in the condition department to keep condition builds viable, I’m done with GW2.

Huh. I would put those three on the bottom of my list of people I respect. Not because I almost never agree with them, but because of the know-it-all, snarky attitudes. To each their own, I suppose.
Back on topic, I agree with OP. Buffing the underpowered skills is the way to achieve balance, not the other way around.
The Entitled feeling that if the world does not go in the direction they want threatening to quit. Spit the dummy and pack up your toys and go elsewhere so that you can have the same problems all over again.
I love my Necro and when things change I just go try out a new build and work around stuff and the world is good again. As for coming and crying on the forums and threatening if it isnt done my way then Im gonna quit OMG

Agreed lol.
Spssh not going to invalidate the statement you are making but i’m pretty sure they’ve lost tons of players (engineers, rangers, necros) over the severe testing problems they create by not having a PTR and as such I highly doubt they’ll ever learn, it’s almost a year now and they still haven’t fixed engineers who have to work three times as hard for everything then any other class.

Sometimes I wonder if it isn’t intended because that’s 3 classes that probably get less rewards which helps the game economy and we all know the part of the game that must always be balanced.

I’m the same way, I would add a few more names to those who are always on the “everything is perfectly fine, don’t actually think for yourselves just believe it’s all for your benefit and move-along” list who show up on every single forum post of late, I’m beginning to wonder if they aren’t hired naysayers who just sit around on forums and post nonsense to confuse the issues.
You have to start the character over to even rebuild it its a bit of a waste of time if they allowed us to respec our points and such at least being a main healer class and have no attacks might be useful if we are apart of a guild but for people like myself who do not do guilds and parties the ele will be useless since it will be changed to just a healer class from what I have been Reading on here or how he is saying it its just going to be a healer class. Just goes to show that the game is trying to force guilds and parties so people like myself who do not want to have to give up my loot and exp to people I do not know. If it nerfs it to just a healer class I will delete it and try something else.

Agree again lol
OP is 100% on point here.
Game developers solution for anything they deem a problem is nerf it into oblivion. This is not just limited to ArenaNet, it’s a prevalent practice in the whole gaming industry and I’m quite disappointed to see ArenaNet follow suit, considering GW2 is supposed to be about breaking the traditional MMO mold.
Can I please have your account Provost? It sounds awesome and I just started playing the game about three weeks ago. I may be jaded after a years worth of gameplay but so far I’m enjoying it immensely.

I agree nerfing isnt the only way, surely balancing involves bringing up the weaker stuff too.
What about the fact that they are changing the skills between PVP and PVE?
I don’t see what bearing that has on anything. We’ve already established that they continue to make changes across the game without considering what it is their players want. Why is this such a hard concept for you to grasp?
Let me put this in the form of an analogy. I invite you to join me at a sea-side resort. The resort serves a variety of dishes, a number of which you really enjoy, a number of which you might sample, and some of which you don’t particularly like. You can also enjoy sunbathing on the private beach, or engaging in water-oriented activities such as water-skiing or water polo.
How long would you continue to stay if I decided to change the menu, drastically reducing the things you enjoy, increasing the things you didn’t like; or dumped manure all over the private beach; or introduced a shark population into the local waters?
Suppose that I were not open to your concerns for your safety and well-being. How long do you expect you would remain at my resort?
ArenaNet has continually told its player base that it doesn’t care what they think. Do you truly find that acceptable?
LMAO this made me smile… have you played many MMO’s.. do you not understand that balancing is a constantly changing thing over time… its not based on what you or what I want out of our builds its what is fair across the game.. its not fair to you because you have built and used your toon with all those OP things at your disposal, while other classes have to stand back and watch. Sorry this is nothing more than a M,E ME, ME thread that offers nothing of any real substance to the argument of rebalancing classes.
If your gunna quit, then do so.. good players will just dust themselves off and learn to adjust their build/pla style to accommodate.
It stinks that a game needs balancing every now and then.. my necro would love some ANET love but its my favourite class and I just have to keep trying new things until I find something that works or that can be somewhat effective…. I am sure Engineers would like some love as would other classes… but in some ways rebalancing gives them that bit of love and brings the classes closer together forcing player skill to take over… alien concept I know for some.

Yes it does imo.. but you cant do it all at once otherwise its more difficult to thin out what is or isn’t balancing or in need of balance.. its not something that is right or wrong its a fluid concept I think based around someones ideal medium… but as the game evolves with gear, content, mobs, skill etc things become muddied and to upsticks and change things just for the sake of changing them isn’t a good idea so I imagine ANET are addressing the obvious things, measure the effect and perhaps then will raise other classes that still fall outside the revised happy medium.
Its kinda like being a referee in a kids rugby match.. every decision is always wrong, your always seen as the bad guy no matter what you do – a thankless unrewarding job
just quit now, if you can’t handle an update then this game isn’t for you.
Hi everyone,
