Why don’t 2 handed weapons have the option to apply 2 sigils on it?

2 handers can hold 2 infusions but what about sigils?

However, if you use a Main hand and Off Hand Weapon you can hold 2 sigil effects.

Shouldn’t there be an update to apply 2 sigils to a two-handed weapon?

Why don’t 2 handed weapons have the option to apply 2 sigils on it?

Because they hit harder than one handed weapons. Basically a 2-hander already comes with a buffed up Sigil of Force on it (within it).

Because it’s still one weapon.

and because technically warriors and guardians with 2handed weapons actually have 20 sigils equipped even without a weapon and don’t need another.

Hey guys,

We agree with you. This has been something that has been greatly discussed and is definitely on our radar. There isn’t a time frame set yet, but I just just wanted to let you know it is something we are looking to change for the future. Sorry I can’t give more details at this time.

What about engineers. Think before you type.

Good find. That’s the official response.

lol

Well then, let’s take a look at the damage formula first:

Damage done = (Weapon Strength) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)

So a percentual increase in weapon strength increases damage by the same percentage.

And if we look at an ascended 1h sword:
Weapon Strength: 965 – 1066 ~ 1015.5 avg

And an ascended greatsword:
Weapon Strength: 1061 – 1173 ~ 1117 avg (+10%)

This isn’t even counting in the fact that the base skill damage from 2h’s tends to be a little higher than 1-handers on average as well.

edit: could have saved myself some typing, you can find it here as well.

Good post. And good to see someone “gets” it. The inherent superior strength of the 2-handers over the 1-handers is in a sense, a sigil in itself (thus my comparison to 2-handers basically having a built in sigil of force – although it would actually be stronger than that). Imagine Dual sigils on a 2-hander like the Warrior Greatsword … LOL.

This was discussed a while back and a dev stated there were technical limitations as to why they could not put two sigils on a two handed weapon.

But more recent conversations by devs have indicated they are again looking into the issue.

Not really sure where it stands based on those responses. Either they figured something out technically that would make it possible or they were not aware of the technical difficulties before posting the last response.

Ask Rangers what they think of the “hitting harder with a 2h weapon” when they use their GS.
The damage numbers on the weapon itself simply mean nothing at all without the context of skills.
2h weapons should have 2 slots.

You’re completely forgetting attack speed as well as damage coefficients on attack skills.

There’s a reason why 1h swords do more dps than greatswords for both Rangers and Guardians.

Also agreed: 2h weapons should have 2 sigil slots.

The only class that would be really potentially imba due to this is warrior.

You can have that when one handed weapons stop costing the same amount of materials twice to craft.

This. And don’t forget the dungeon tokens (300 for 1h, 390 for 2h weapon).
