Double xp weekends?
But is it at all necessary? XP floods in extremely fast in this game, one can hit 80 from 0 in a relaxed week of normal play.
They do, however, do weekends with PvP progress boosts.
Question, has Anet ever done double xp weekends? That would be awesome if they did and willing to continue it.
How would it be awesome? Leveling to 80 happens so quickly for new players that many miss out on exploring and many miss out on learning their prof before they get to 80. Leveling masteries is, by design, slower, but it’s still fairly quick and you only need to do it once per account. Further, there are all sorts of buffs that allow you to have double xp “weekends” whenever you like.
And as it stands now, XP has no value after this.
In short, of all the buffs that ANet could implement on a semi-regular basis, this seems like the one that would benefit the fewest players.

Personally I’d rather see double MF weekends.

Double MF would be better than double XP. The game already hands out tomes and writs to everyone. I can’t even use the XP I get right now as all my mastery lines are maxed. Twice the amount of unusable XP isn’t interesting to me.

This might be nice: ‘Double Choose-your-Bonus Weekend’
Maybe 4 choices; XP, Magic Find, Karma, Gold Find
Or something along those lines.
Answer: Yes. ANet has held a form of “double XP” though it’s been over a year so I’m not too sure how the format went, time-wise, but it was almost double everything which includes:
- Regular XP
- WvW XP
- PvP XP
- Crafting XP
