tl;dr first: I’d like to see doubloons have their own slot in the material collections, since that’s their primary value for most people, most of the time.

(The again, I would mind a new tab for upgrade items, such as runes, crests, etc.)

Because they are categorised as upgrade components and not crafting materials.

On the other hand, their in-game description categorizes them as crafting material (with various disciplines/ranks).

I am a huge critic of ANet Consistency™, in which they have multiple IDs for seemingly identical items (so they can’t stack), for projectile-like attacks that aren’t treated as projectiles, for their often-confusing naming conventions, and so on.

Still, I have to give them credit for creating lots of interesting hybrids in the game, that don’t fall easily into one category or another. Ectos are used as material and as currency, gems are both upgrade items and materials, and so on. The game doesn’t have to stick everything neatly into the boxes.

That said, given that doubloons are more commonly used as crafting material and often required in large quantities, I’d like to see them added to the material storage, along with Foxfire (which only has value as a crafting material forge component).

Because they look so happy sitting in my regular bank tab, taking up an inventory slot in a bank tab I paid money for.

Be careful what you ask for

Yes, but things such as opal orbs, ruby shards, sapphire crystals, etc. are also upgrade components (as well as being crafting materials). Surely they could find a way to have doubloons work the same as those.

So are all gems, technically. Yet they all have storage. So I don’t really think that’s much a reason doubloons don’t.

Would definitely like to see doubloons turn into collectibles.

I never said the3y shouldnt be put into the mat storage, i just said why they arent.

Give them a slot in the mat storage for all i care.
However, this will raise their price on the tp, as people will simply deposit and forget about them instead of selling/listing them immediately. so new supply listed on the tp will dry up for quite some time.

Doubloons, Foxfire clusters, Blade Shards and things like Mystic Crystals, Philosophers Stones, Augur Stones (and the like) all need crafting material slots in the storage section of the bank.

Edit: CLAY BRICKS too!

I’m not so sure about doubloons, but anything that comes out of a gathering node should have a slot in material storage. Hello foxfire clusters?!

Don’t talk nonsense.. that is a flat out silly theory for price inflation.
Doubloons fall under the same category as jewels and other dual purpose items, but I don’t see those items being affected because they have a storage slot… other factors within the game itself affect price fluctuations not where they are stored.

I would hazard a guess most players will of tried to max out their storage of materials before pushing everything to the TP anyways especially the more useful stuff.

Simple fact is it’s just another example of lazy coding that could and should be altered.

Foxfire clusters and bricks of clay are only used for making Mawdrey. Pretty sure the entire point of Mawdrey is to make you suffer as much as possible while crafting it, so no storage slot.

Kewl. This is an excellent reason to put this in. More gold for me! When can we get this in game?

Well, first you say im silly and then you agree with me.
People would deposit doubloons, which they would otherwise have put on the market.
Less supply being available on the tp while demand stays the same, means prices would go up.

For now…

But ambrite, quartz crystals, and watchwork sprockets have very limited uses, too, but they still have their own slots.
