I am still incredibly baffled about the clear imbalance that exist with the downed states. between professions. This is most relevant during PVP. Classes like Rangers and Elementalist do not have an immediate interrupt of escapees like thieves Mesmer Warriors Guardians etc. Now i don’t even use the finisher move because its more efficient to just dps them down while they are down. Making the finishing move completely useless., When i got down (elementalist) I am just screwed…

I am curious… am i the only one who think that this is a clear imbalance?

Additionally, when people go down underwater, you can essentially survice for a very very long time by surfacing. This is because while you surface you be come invulnerable to all attacks for 2-3 seconds. then you get hit, then surface, hit, surface, hit, surface….on and on. It once took me 2 minutes to actually finish off a person underwater…

I feel like i am being punished for playing an elementalist and people are being rewarded for losing a pvp fight rather than being punished.

What do you guys think?

Agreed. With the finisher system, there is no way for our #3 (Ranger) ability to even benefit us. Especially since it STARTS on a 12 second cooldown, so our pets cannot help revive us for 12 seconds.

At the same time, Lick Wounds is probably one of the best PvE survival skills in the game.

I love lick wounds when it works. However when it doesn’t work its extremely disappointing. Terrain has its way of interfering sometime. Also Search and Rescue is a great skill. Lick Wounds for allies.

I feel there is definitely some blatant imbalance between downed states in terms of to what the player has access to stay alive in PvP.

A warrior, for a mild example, is able to interrupt a single assailant while downed. If there are more than one, however, a warrior can do nothing to prevent being finished off immediately.

A thief, however, can interrupt all assailants by teleporting out of range of their finisher.

Some classes do not even have the option of creating some sort of distracted in the crucial first seconds, as stated, giving no access to their three while downed. Thieves can also keep attackers busy for a very long time with teleport -> invis -> teleport if timed properly. I do not believe any other class has this level of straight up harassment while downed.

I strongly agree with this. In pvp the downstates are all over the board. I’m an engineer and mine are decent, If i’m right on the timing I can keep someone away for about 5 seconds.

But man some classes I just have a problem with unless I’m using an elixir S.

Oh, and Mesmers are a pain alive and downed lol. I’m not lying when I say I had one kill me from full health when he was in downed state. I actually had to alt+tab and read their downed state skills to see what the hell happened. I kept finishing him but they were just clones lol.

Yes and it sours my view of the downed state. As an elementalist in spvp going downed is the same as dying. In very few instances do I even have a chance of rallying and my individual effort is not going to change that.

I don’t understand how the disparity between downed stats is allowed. I’ve been against many a thief who was able to turn the tables on me, and I’ve stopped trying to “finish them” because it’s pointless. I just attack them normally until they die.

I also think that the underwater downed state needs to be looked at. Underwater combat is already bogus in my view, and then the underwater downed state where people go invulnerable when at the surface is ridiculous.

If they were invulnerable at the surface it was a glitch. It heals you just like your 4th skill does, but forces you to remain still so if someone starts beating on you you can’t get out of it.

Mesmer’s downed attacks are OP as hell.

Underwater is broken (it’s the same as land downed, but like 3x faster) and you can continuously stack 10 confusions on your enemy.

Coming from SWTOR with its mirror classes, I for one am happy to see the variation. I dont know if something is OP just because its different. OP for me would be a clear cut case, like instant res, different is just different

Every class should have the same opportunity to survive the while in down state or have no opportunity to escape finishers other than to rally in my opinion. Difference is good, but difference that creates a clear advantage for some classes vs others is an imbalance. Right now, Rangers, Elementalist (i don’t know about every class) has absolutely no opportunity to escape the finisher in the first 6-7 seconds. While other classes like thieves Mesmer warriors and guardians have abilities to extend their down state. If every class had some way to extend their downed state… then i would be ok with it but to give some class with the ability to survive vs giving some classes absolutely nothing is blatant imbalance.

Also with the invulnerability on the surface. this is not a glitch, during the period in wich you go from alive state to downed state (~2 seconds) you become invulnerable to all attacks land or water. When you get downed underwater, you can rise to the surface and during the transition from your underwater state to recovering state (~2 sec) at the surface, you become invulnerable. This is interrupted when you get hit. but you can resurface to get another 2 second of invulnerability. Rinse repeat. If you time it right you can survive for a VERY long time with your assailants being unable to kill you for good.

My eng is screwed in downed state unless it’s 1v1. Aoe ability just takes too long to be any use. I have serious downed state envy.

Agree with thief and mesmer down states being too annoying. I don’t even bother finishing anyone anymore. I just keep DPSing.

The downed state is terrible in its current form.

I made multiple posts about all the problems with it and viable fixes during the beta’s.

But they never changed a thing. It almost ruins WvW for me. Because I can down people a lot as an Elementalist, but I can almost never finish anyone unless I am surrounded by friendlies. Or I down people from Keep walls, just to see them stand up and run off while I dump all my damage in them trying to finish that way.

Yup I agree, Ive nearly given up on Spvp on my ele and went to my warrior because there are so many issues with my ele when it comes to pvp. Downed state is very weak and personally i feel mesmers downed state abilities need to be toned way down.

Mist form might work well if you have companions who can grab aggro from you. But if you’re playing solo Mist Form, and the other ele downed skills are incredibly weak. 1 and 2 barely do any damage to higher mobs, Mist form doesn’t last long enough to break aggro, and 4…..oh 4…how many times have I hit it once and have had it not go off….or hit it twice to make it go off and break the channeling so that I die before it recharges?

As an elementalist I agree as well we are pretty much worthless when in the down state PvP wise. I really don’t get why vapor form (3) is on such long cd. if we used it on the 3th time its game over all ready anyway. But at least in WvW I could never use it even if I get downed pretty far away.

Mist form runs on a long CD, Most of the time i die in PVE before i even get to use it unless i have teammates helping. Additionally, you claim that you die about a third of a time as any of your compatriots because of mist form? So you agree that there is a balance issue for the downed states.

Ranger downed state is the worst, I know, I play one. I stopped even trying to fight off other players, I give them their kill, the less time I spend pretending I can prevent an inevitable death means its going to take me longer to get back into the fight. Thiefs and Mesmers need to be killed 3×.

Anet changed the title of my post to a question. WELL THIS IS NOT A QUESTION ANET. this is a major issue in PVP and you better fix. Until then bye bye.

it is pretty simple, EVERY class have an interrupt on downed, so it isnt balanced and it is UNBALANCED, pretty easy to see

PD: yes rogues and mesmers are broken rigth now, and warrior one with the traith that let them live if they kills someone after to use theyr 3 downed skill, is absurd, they revive, u are a mele, so they use the overpower quikness(the haste one im not sure the name) and hundred, and 1 sec after u are dead and he is alive.
