Dragon Bash im excited except for 1 thing
I am wondering how high the chance is to get the weapon skins from the Rich Dragon Coffers… Is it 10%, 50%, maybe 100%..?
And will these skins be trade-able…. :/
The mysteries dissapear and life stands explained.”
we have noidea. though it be nice if the coffers drop from any mob in the game and rich drops from dragon ball. but we half to wate and see.
I wouldn’t even mind if the rich coffers were only on the trading post as long as the chance to get a weapon is near 100%.
I think the halloween skins were treated well, RNG, temporary weapon, craftable and trade-able…

thats not to shabby. i woldent mind if it was 75%+ and i actually like halloween skins
Rich ones drop from the chest, while the regular dragon chests are cash shop items based on that description. This gives me hope, as it means that we can obtain the skins in a way that doesn’t break the wallet. Sure, it’s RNG based, but at least it’s not gem based.
I kind of don’t really care about all the weapon skins, but correct me if I’m wrong, during the past months, how many weapon skins were introduced and how many could only be obtained through BLCs ?

Depends on when you start counting from. If you including the fused and the new southsun weapon skins, you have two complete sets. This is compared to an incomplete set of gear from SAB and a complete set of gear from Guild Missions. Plus there was a bow, a quiver, a mace and a shield you could buy direct from the cash shop as skins.
Btw the new stuff isn’t in the BLC, it’s in consortium chests. Same idea, but different random stuff inside.
I’d say there’s slightly more skins available for RNG in the last four months than there are in game…but it is slightly…that is unless the WvW skins are new? Are there new WvW skins.
If there are, then there are more new skins in game.
I have the memory of a goldfish sometime >.> I completely forgot about the SAB (even if I loved the skins, but didn’t even get to buy one because of work) and the guild missions.
I guess all those talks about tickets, and the new Dragon Bash skins made me focus on that xD.
To be fair, I thought the skins in the RNG boxes were better than the others released, but of course, that’s personal taste.
Some Scelerite and Jade weapons look nice, but not nice enough for me to become crazy due to RNG (even if it was in a end dungeon chest, like in GW1, I wouldn’t really farm it).
I personally think the game should go back to the way they did it on Halloween… none permanent skins in some cases, permanent skins from these RNG chests and make the ability to craft them with rare components. Maybe including a special crafting material that drops from opponents in the game during the event. People don’t have the money to spend on the chests or the time to invest to get the money in game to convert to gems… I just wanna know why casual players are getting penalised during the events. Come on Anet give us more ways to obtain things using in game systems other than cold hard cash.
All I want is the wings. (b/c FYIAD)
As long as those aren’t pure RNG, I’ll be happy enough
.
My Favorite GW1 bow I ever got, the Silverwing which is also very Draconic, was pure RNG… so I don’t totally hate all RNG. I got it quickly, on only the 3rd time I ran Frostmaws. I probably wouldn’t have been as grateful for it as I was if it something I had to “casually grind” 3 months for instead like my monk’s ZoMing mask was. (b/c then everytime I looked at it all I’d remember is the grind instead of the cool and laid back folks from my guild who took me through Frosts)
PS: This festival starts ON my birthday…. I really hope that’s a good sign (though it probably isn’t b/c I can’t remember the last time I got anything good for my birthday)

Let’s see the added skins since release:
Skins added after release obtained solely trough RNG chests (BLC or otherwise)
Halloween skins (9 total including weapons and shoulders)
Fused skins (16, one of each kind except for underwater)
Sclerite weapons (16, same)
Total: 41
Since february: 32
Skins added after release obtained by other means (won’t count town clothing):
Mystic Forge halloween weapons (3)
Halloween back item (1, though it has two varieties, regular and flaming)
Christmas weapon skins (8)
Christmas Gem store weapon skins (10, listing them separatedly so it’s easier to add them up later)
Flame and Frost jet pack and gauntlet (2)
Flame and Frost gem store stuff (4, braham’s mace and shield, rox’s shortbow and quiver)
Super weapons (8)
Guild commendation weapons (19)
Other guild items (3: backpack and 2 kinds of back banners)
Fractal weapons (19)
Southsun back items (2, the flower and tentacle thing)
Total: 79
Since february (bit fuzzy bout dates): 38
So I’d agree, yep, in the last 4 months while there’s still more non RNG boxes items added, the gap is closing, but overall doesn’t look so bad (and I hate RNG boxes as much as anyone, but I understand that as long as people keep buying them, they will keep using them). We’ll see what the dragon bash thing brings to the table.
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.

0.01% most likely.
I really hope that if they do have RNG at play in the Rich Dragon Coffers, that it’s a high chance. I think that the shield, axe and greatsword are some of the best looking skins the game has offered yet, and I’m hopeful that the other weapons will be just as impressive. For someone who has a bunch of 80s and may want a staff, axe, shield, shortbow and hammer, a low chance RNG distribution mechanism is unrealistic, chances are you’ll be lucky to get one of them. But if Rich Coffers are a high chance, and you get one on average for every 1600 gems or so, I think they’ll make a killing on this skin set.
My wife would probably club me over the head, but I’d be willing to spend $20 each on the weapons I mentioned if the skins are all as impressive as the shield and axe are.
This forum is a wretched hive of scum and villainy. ~DevilLordLaser

Don’t do it. Even if it is a good chance, it’s still a chance, and we want to stop the message that we’re ok with RNG. Unless you’re guaranteed something, don’t give them money!
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”
I think that dragon coffers will have a minuscule probability to drop the good stuff as usual, this is after all a business venture.
On the brighter side, those cool looking holo wings can be obtained by completing the meta and that will be enough for me, although those awesome weapon skins could be very tempting once you see some folks running around in LA with them..
Time will tell, hopefully we can discuss how “fair” RNG chests are in a few days, and not the opposite
RNG chests are fine, as long as the “rarity” isn’t impossible to achieve. For instance, as of now I’ve opened over 60 southsun chests, no weapon skins. That doesn’t make me want to spend money on the game, knowing it’s that low a rate tells me “hey, you need to spend a ton of money to get a skin that offers no value other than aesthetics, we don’t care if people want it; it’s money, money money.”
Really though, if they offered it as a more dependable rate, such as 1 in 10 dropped, more players would consider spending real money, and thus gems on buying them. If the rate is obviously so absurdly low, noone will spend because the gamble risk is far too high. It’s much better to sell 100 of something at $10 than it is to sell 10 of something at $100; it keeps community happy and convinces them its worth spending real money on the game.
The skins should be tradable and there would be no problem with rng.
