1. I’d have expected to receive a letter with the details of this festival. I didn’t. I found out on the map chat in LA that the festival is in Divinity’s Reach.
2. I moved to Divinity’s Reach and found the festival icon. Went there. Found a place with a crowd of people. Finally managed to find an NPC that was selling Dragon Festival Envelopes for some insane amount of gold. If you think I am going to spend that much money on an RNG thing you must be nuts. I spend money on what I can see that I get. Western world mentality vs Asian mentality when it comes to gambling.
3. As I had no information about where things are, I moved around through the crowd pressing F until I found a place with firecrackers that were to be lit. I thought “cool! That’s my Festival daily!” and I set them off. It did not register in the Daily achievement so I am still wondering where are the firecrackers that I am supposed to light for the Daily.
4. Again, after milling around pressing F I found an NPC that transported me to a PvP game. I spent exactly 25 seconds in it and said to myself “yep. PvP. I hate PvP.” and got out of there.
5. At this point I still didn’t find anything that would be PvE festival related. Maybe I missed it (see lack of information) but somehow I doubt there is something. Even if I noted somewhere the word “Toypocalipse” (and I LOVED Toypocalipse at Wintersday) I failed to find anything anywhere.

Conclusion:
- try to put out more information about a festival if you’re organizing one. Wondering around the map trying to find what is going on is not good and won’t make people spend their money on it.
- try to make the festival appealing for all your players. If I go by the people I know in game, about 35% of your player pool likes PvP, the rest prefers PvE. Even if the percentages were reversed, not catering to all the player pool makes you lose money.

Final conclusion: fairly poor event. Horrible implementation. Won’t spend money or time on it.

What do you expect from a recycled event? Only difference is that its even worse with the laggs and the same problems of the last event and different rewards (if you get any at all).

You can make more too, i spent 16 gold and ended up making 24 back, all depends on your MF.

Aww, yea i can confirm they drop from the tickets you buy at the merchant, they are worth 8g, 88s, 88c
I imagine if your MF is high enough you could get multiple of those per day too

My opinion :
- It might lack a letter yes, but it’s not especially hard to find the place, and it’s an arena only…
- Dailies are cool, rewards are fine for now.
- Dragon ball arena is cool in itself, but it lags way too much to try to do tactics and stuff right now( and it lags in PvP as well, fairly hard to play thief/zerker builds right now…)
- The new outfit is very nice, reminds of canthan armors from GW1. Very good idea !

Yea, RNG. I got all three options of envelopes and lost about 1.5 g overall. First and last day of doing that. I managed to see how the rewards items look and I definitely will not be spending money for the chance to get things I don’t like.

On the good side, oh-em-gee, the extra MF works! I have never in my life gotten so many porous bones in Orr!

If you didn’t get that the above is sarcasm… Anyway, it seems to be working in reverse. Usually for me an hour or so of farming in Orr brings anywhere from 1g to 5 g. In my first half an hour of farming there I got about 15 porous bones, a couple claws and 3 blues. I think I’ll go afk in LA waiting for this “buff” to wear off before farming more.

Simply said, last chinese new year equivalent (aka dragon bash) was much more rewarding and entertaining.
You even had a chance to get the Gemstore skins and backpack skins in the open world, just by playing the game.

What is it with GW2 and the festivals? Why can`t they be consistent?
I was actually thrilled by the festival, till I saw it.

I think that is the reason they did not advertise it all.

So far this is the absolute worst event in an mmo I’ve seen.

Envelops cost INSANE amounts of gold. I have 38g and thats the highest I’ve ever had. I have absolute kitten luck and never got so much as an exotic drop let alone precursor.

The pvp is horrible. No instruction given at all. No way to know what the abilities are or what they do. You randomly unlock one and have no clue how it works. It’s such a kitten twitch fest crap.

There isn’t anything worth doing in this crap event with literally no information given what so ever. It doesn’t even tell you it’s in kittening DR! I had to read this to find that out.

You get a ram token for every 10th win.

I agree that it does sound like you would get them more often (it refers to getting them by winning in Dragon Arena or something like that) and that there probably should be some slight reward for winning, but it is possible that it is simply a bug.

Yes, the skills say what they do, but you don’t really have time to read that, now, do you? Because by the time you stop and read you’re dead.

Of course you shouldn’t have to go to the wiki, and clearly you don’t. But if you have issues understanding what is going in in the game going into the wiki might help with it.

It’s an ingame holiday event, not a recurring story. Pvp had seasons and tournements and wvw seasons etc. There was plenty of recurring events for pvp.

Wintersday had tons of both pvp and pve. This lame event doesn’t have anything except envelopes used to resell on the TP to make some money.

I joined the arena and played 6 games. My team won 4 matches, i was number 1 player 3 times out of the 4 won matches. I got no rewards at all at any point, except from the daily chest. Playing a game that i do find funny, but get absolutely nothing for it even though my team is winning and i am having first place for most kills, well i don’t see the point. I assume this is a bug, and hopefully will be fixed, i of course submitted a bugreport, but i wont really be playing it until it is fixed, except for the matches for the daily achivement. Is not worth the effort to play, and gain nothing, no ranks, no rewards, no nothing. On wintersday i had lots of chests on the side here nothing except for the daily.

The dragon ball game is dreadfully dull and unrewarding. The 2 games I played were completely unbalanced, being far behind when I joined with hardly any players on my side and no chance to win at all. Seeing that I needed no more than 2 completed matches to qualify for the festival daily, I’ll leave it at 2 for today.

Maybe I’ll play 2 on some other days, if I can be bothered, and if I happen to win 10 before the festival is over, well, I can’t even muster the tiniest bit of enthusiasm over the prospect.

Did event… and done some raging on guild channel. It is simply terrible.
- Daily chest 1 laurel – ok there is never to little of them, as I bought GW2 quite late (so there is lot to buy)
- Nothing for participating… it is simply EWW… today I done 5 wins but never again (tomorrow I will open 6 envelopes, and it should get enough of them for just 2 participation).
- It is PvP event and there is not enough activities at all… I don’t do PvP… I dont like it…
- Gambling → simply rewarding players with older accounts (as they have more MF), so rich get richer.

Dragon ball problems:
- single arena (how long can you play it before it get boring)
- fast paced (a bit to fast paced – I was really lacking some aim bot → can someone put ad for one)
- no tutorial – It is problem with EVERY activity ever made(during winter events, or even daily activities)
- simply kitten simulator (win this team that can stay grouped for longer)
- none rewards mean that loosing team will start leaving (with terrible requirement of 5 wins for daily)
- Can someone tell what is meaning of upgrading your basic attack – I would think it would be more dmg (but no), it is also not increased hit box of attack, as there are no hitboxes (and As long as enemy is visible, within range and not dodging attack will hit)

Honestly it would be hard to make worse event. This is not the one you could be proud of.

Yeah, a little miffed at the event too. It’s clearly a PvP oriented event, and I’ve decided to not care about it tomorrow especially since I clicked ALL of the firecrackers in Divinity’s Reach and WvW citadel and still didn’t get the daily. I’m sitting at 4/5 lit and I think there’s about 20 of them which meant only 1 in 5 registered I’d clicked them (bug?)… unless I can light the ones in opposing server citadels (not going to happen).

I haven’t won a single Dragon Ball game (I doubt there’s any system organized to place me with similarly skilled players for this like they say exists in PvP even though I still lose 3 out of 4 games in PvP despite being the top scorer on my team in 3/5 of my games) and only one of them was a close game.

As the OP pointed out, there was no mention of a Festival. No e-mail, no in-game mail, and nothing on the Welcome screen. If the extended download hadn’t prompted me to check the Game Updates webpage, I would never have known anything was going on.

So… Magic Find does affect what you get in your envelopes (including Essences of Luck). So the more luck I have the more I get? The rich keep getting richer, and the poor keep getting stomped on by the boot of RNG. Or am I missing something here?

The Lunar New Year Daily forced me to do PvP (Dragonball). If ANet follows their Modus Operandi, this won’t change. (I hate PvP with a passion, thank you very much). When I entered the game I was killed before I moved more than a few feet. This continued through the entire match every time I respawned (the other team finally winning with a score of something like 500 to 45) so I had no opportunity to figure out what was going on or what I was supposed to do. Fun, fun, fun! The joys of PvP. I’m sure if I had been randomly placed with the other team, then I might have had a chance to figure things out. But the gods of RNG placed me in a horrible mismatch for my first time out, so my poor view of PvP was not changed for the better. I don’t see any reason to give it another try.

So that’s my take on it so far. I hate to say it, but I suppose it’s just as well they didn’t notify us that anything was going on, since I’m not seeing much of anything worth doing anyhow. The only rewards I see worth anything to me is Luck, but I don’t want it bad enough to do PvP and to keep rapidly filling my precious Inventory space with Festival trash.

Dragonball. I played about 8 matches. Two overwhelming wins, two close matches (won one, lost one) followed by loss after loss after loss. With no reward for losses (and minimal reward for wins) I’m probably just going to do the two rounds for the daily for the rest of the event and leave the farmers to grind down prices on me and the other daily running sacrificial rams. It’s no worse than the snowball throwing daily imo. Actually it’s kind of like combining that one with the bell choir daily.

1) I only found out about the festival from people on Teamspeak, after we had done our daily tri-wurm run. Otherwise I would have seen the whole “new build available” as a possible client side/server side hotfix, to some issues that I never encountered.

So they could have sent out something to inform players of the new event happening within the game itself. However; with a simple question ingame or even checking twitter/reddit, you would have found this information.

2) If you spent 10 gold, you’ll get 9 gold back, if you don’t get lucky with getting some extra things, but the amount of gold requested and the possible return is just all about luck/rng, but remember you are never forced into buying them. However; I can understand that some people may find this frustrating.

3) Everyone is diferent in terms of understanding what is happening around them, but thus far I’ve not seen you once mentioned you would ask those around you or friends. This is unfortunately you downfall as you didn’t take the time to communicate yourself. Remember that for the future, Anyandrell

4) This could be due to your possible settings/computer, but even with there be a lot of people around I was still able to find the NPCs. This could be due to players in your map wanting to be annoying and standing ontop of the NPC. shrug

5) It’s something extra to do. It’s free, you didn’t pay for it and you are not forced into doing it. There will always be events that people enjoy and others hate.

My final conclusion: You have the ability to use the chat to ask questions to those, who may have more information that yourself. You should not be afraid to ask or even the read the chat, which I’m pretty sure others will be asking the same questions you have in mind.

However; even with the perfect event, with all form of media used to inform people, someone somewhere would complain about something.
