First off, I hope this is the right place to put this thread, and that I haven’t copied anything others have said 100 times—I think this is broad enough to cover in a new post. Anyway…
During my time in Ember Bay, which has been probably my favorite new map, I noticed one thing: “new and improved, harder,” Destroyers were re-skinned pushovers. My request is, if ANet is going to make dragon minions with improved appearance because of newly acquired dragon magic (be it Destroyers, Icebrood, Branded, etc.) then please, please, make them actually more difficult, and not by simply making them “Veteran,” but by making them at least nearly that of HoT-like difficult. There were a lot of dissenting voices regarding the difficulty of enemies in HoT, but I believe they were the loud minority. Please, don’t make mobs extremely easy for just the new kids. If the primary mobs are easier, that’s one thing, but the out-of-the-way groups, please let them be more powerful and hard-hitting. I have to get at least 15 Destroyers on me in Ember Bay to finally be nibbled to death.
Lastly, one thing I did like about the new Destroyers was that they were vulnerable when chilled. That was cool, but they weren’t immune to burning like the ones in Kessex Hills are (because of the new plant magic?… I don’t know), but it would be cool to see them also have their strengths. Their should be variety and the need (or reward) for players who adapt to their new enemies, without breaking stats. Future Icebrood could be immune to chill, but hurt more from burning, that kind of thing. Anyway, I hope I’m not alone on this, but feel free to give feedback and input, I’m curious what the rest of you think as well. Thank you for the read!

TL;DR: Harder dragon minions with new dragon magic should actually be harder, not pushovers, and hopefully with their own strengths and weaknesses.

I’m not sure it was a ‘vocal minority’ that expressed a dissatisfaction with the challenge provided by the HoT creatures.

I feel the creatures in Ember Bay are just about right. So, please, Devs, keep doing what you are doing. =)

I wouldnt mind seeing EB, and future LS3 mobs, be more on par with HoT creatures. The challenge in HoT zones seemed to be pretty good to me.

The new ones seem tougher to me. Also, this isn’t the first time Destroyers have losy their immunity to burning for some reason or another. Being vulnerable when chilled was a nice touch.

Also, challenge/difficulty doesn’t equal fun. Something people seem to forget.

I did also like their vulnerability to Chill, but I think the reason why they got away from making them invulnerable to Burning is that they would make Condi Dragonhunters and Berserkers almost useless (they both rely heavily on burning for their dps) so I think this is understandable, for the sake of avoiding people having to respec for a single map and the uproar that would come with it.

Yeah, destroyers are among the last holdouts of enemies with resistances/immunities to things, along with some hylek and all objects in Central Tyria (also dredge, but blind doesn’t do damage so it’s not as big of a problem). Removing that immunity from them has been a long time coming, especially since we’re probably going to be fighting a lot of varieties of them if the mordrem were anything to go by.

Also I have no idea why Anet hasn’t made Central Tyrian objects vulnerable to conditions like the ones from HoT onward, now that I think of it.
