Dragon building in the August 2009 trailer
dead zhaitan, supposed to be in the arah explorables
removed from game so you don’t get reminded how awful the fight with him was?
Yeah, it looks like how Zhaitan looks at the old concept arts of him, and the coloring on it looks like a lot of the coloring in Orr. I thought about this myself, but would love to get a confirmation of some sort.
Looking back at it now, alot of that trailer isnt even in the game, or so very heavily modified it isn’t recognizable anymore….GG Anet!
Iteration process, guys! That’s why they changed many things.
The dragon bones reminded me this place in the Charr homelands, back in GWEN, between Grothmar Wardowns and Dalada Uplands.

That ridge was supposedly the spine of Kralkatorik
This video was brought up several months ago. A dev responded to it. I’d find the link but that sounds like a lot of digging. They said something along the lines of the zones were designed with a lot of freedom in mind, and as technical limits came into play, things needed to be changed. It’s a shame, because a lot of that video is amazing looking.
I hope one day soon after all the complaints about the content, Colin Johanson comes out of his office in anger and yells, “release the Kraken! Let all of Tyria know fear!”
Then he will go back to playing his own private SAB instance.

Ah, such memories. I remember watching this at least once a day as the release date drew near. How disappointed I was when most of it was missing.
I thought the artwork at 1:30 was going to be Ebonhawk. The Hawkgates looked massive in that, and the structures were along the twin cliffs with what I thought was water running through the middle. I had such high hopes for Ebonhawk, but felt so disappointed when I got there.
Likewise, at 2:35 I thought we were looking at Lion’s Arch. Although what we got in the game wasn’t bad at all, I just expected something… better.
It’s such a shame, what could have been.

Reminds me of how disappointed I was in Guild Wars 1 when I finally got to Lion’s Arch.
Look, ma, more tents. lol

That sucks. Freedom is good and it looked very good in the video.
Yes, it’s really a shame they had to remove it.
With the new culling though, it won’t be a problem.
