Past few days I and many look at the dragon timer for our server, and head to the area whichever dragon is due to pop at. Every time we go to overflow, so the timer for that server then means nothing. And no one is going to wait up to three hours for a dragon.

I know too many people are causing major lag, but this ain’t working either. We haven’t been able to kill a dragon in days. Increase capacity for dragon areas on the servers, even create instances and not overflows. Or…make dragons etc all pop the same time, on every server and overflow. That would also stop all the unnecessary guesting that’s causing people to jump server to server for events, and causing most of the lag

I reckon this is how it was meant to be. You want to kill a dragon, try not coming last minute and reap the full rewards while everyone else did all the work.

Also, guesting is likely not the issue here, it is servers with huge populations crowding on the same map. Overflow needs to be triggered faster or reward made account bound.

i think i have an idea to solve this issue but will not mention it here because people wouldn’t like it if ANET implement it……

I would love to see the timers staggered a lot more. So far, I believe they all have a 2 hour 30 minute timer, Shatterer is a 10 minute spawn window, Tequatl is 30 minutes and Claw is 1 hour 15 minutes. I think the timers need to be staggered in a way that the spawn windows do not overlap at all. I’ve noticed the last three weeks that Shatterer and Tequatl will spawn at nearly the same exact time, and claw soon after tequatl spawns (about 10-20 minutes later), which forces the players who run these dragons to all mass at the same time in the same map all the time.

I think if they were pushed back further apart from one another time frame wise, then things wouldn’t be where they are. However, no matter when they spawn, the crowd will always be there for the dragons, because they want to kill them and get the loot. The problem will persist until there are more of these types of dragon encounter spread to the other maps.

I still think that this problem will still persist no matter what Anet does, simply because we all want to kill the dragons for the loot. Unless they expand the size of the servers for the maps, we will continuously have these problems. Culling is still a major issues, to the point that npc’s are being culled right along with players.

Simple solution. Make dragon spawns on overflow maps match that of the normal one.

Not too much coding involved. Sure it might tale longer to beat him but I myself saw 40+ unhappy people in an overflow today, myself including.

Except, which servers timer should the overflow follow since overflows are shared between a number of worlds?

Just had this happen on Far Shiverpeaks, Queensdale at around 9am GMT. What surprises me is that it threw me into an overflow this early on in the day.

It’s pure and simple: GREED is what is creating the problem. Want a guaranteed one rare with little to no effort- then park up at a spawn point, log onto another toon, repeat until all spawns are covered. Next, check server dragon spawn timer, then log whatever toon is next up. Repeat.

They need to make the spawns totally random time wise and preferably location wise too- which would make the events a lot more ‘dynamic’ than they are now.

Would be a lot cooler to have a dragon appear in the sky and then land on someone’s head than the current ’let’s all spawn in to this one point where the dragon will get itself massacred in under a minute’, which is frankly rubbish.

Oh well I totally forgot that. Hmmm well…

Make home town overflows cross server and open world overflows by server.

Home town meaning LA, Rata Sum, etc

Increase the exotics and yellow chest drop and make them once per day per account (in all servers). This way there can be only 1 and people will not guest to do them. Servers will not be crowded as players will not change between their 10000000 chars to get all the chests.

Lol greed?

These events are the only thing worth farming now becuz Anet trashed the camps. Where the last good loot was. I haven’t got a rare or exo out there yet and I lose money on repair bills cuz no one is there anymore and champs spawn like normal mobs now.

Camps arw sometimes deserted like the rest of Orr. Its bad and thats why everyone flocks to these events. Because there is no where else to go.

It’s more than just guesting. It’s that the changes to the chests have made dragons ‘worthwhile’ in many peoples minds now, when they weren’t before. So YES, many of the people on your server will be doing dragon events more often now. And YES, many people will look on the timers and see what server is going to have the 2 chest events they are missing earlier than their home server, guest there, and that just adds to the map population.

Personally, I wish guesting worked like switching overflows does, in that someone actually ON that world would have to invite you to a party and you ‘join’ them on that world. If you aren’t both on the same map, you are obviously NOT there to play with them, so you (the guest) get booted.

After all, I’m only a guest if I’m invited somewhere. Guesting is supposed to be about friends. Think of it like this:

You invite me to your house for supper. I show up and come into your home. We eat. Later, after the meal is done, I leave and go to my home. There, I’ve been a guest at your house.

Guesting is not wandering down a street, looking in people’s windows to see who has supper ready to serve when you are hungry, and you walking in whenever you find something that appeals to you. Although no one knows who you are, you sit down at the table and help yourself. And because it’s not just YOU doing this but 20 other people, there might not be enough chairs or food for everyone who lives in the house to sit or eat. Eventually, you leave as soon as you are done.

To me, that’s not guesting lol.

The only way the overflow is going to get fixed is if they either nerf the chests, or run all dragons on a fixed schedule.

Instead of having them spawn every 2 to 3 hours, have them spawn exactly every 2 hours, for example at 2 pm, 4 pm, etc. All dragons would occur at the same time, forcing people to split up. Overflows would no longer be a problem since if you got into one, the event would be happening there also, at the same time. If they don’t care about splitting up the players to reduce stress, the dragons could occur staggered throughout the 2 hour period, so that each one would occur roughly 30 minutes after the last one started.

At least if it was officially scheduled, people wouldn’t be encouraged to AFK for up to an hour while waiting.

The other solution is to nerf the chests, since as of now, they are the most rewarding content in the game for how little effort is required.

Is there not a way that lets say Shatterer spawns the same time on every server… I know last night we did a Guild Mission and failed since Dragon was up and we were spilt into overflows, if event spawned same time then the guesting wouldnt be used to this extent.

But all thats going to happen is, chests will get nerfed since its easier to do that than work a solution. But 10am in queensdale and in overflow, it hasnt been like that since launch.

I, too, am pretty tired of sitting in overflow on my own server because people from other servers aren’t content with events on their own.

I like Missy’s suggestion: make the spawn times the same on every server.

If my home server is Desolation and i’m login on the map (claw event) the last one guesting is kickout on the overflow server. It’s my home server, not the overflow server. If you are guesting on the crowded server you’re the last in the queue.
First server residents then guesting if there is a slot for them.

Right now is ppl that are guestin then server residents on the overflow.
