So I have practically over two full bank tabs of Dragonite Ore stacks and I really don’t make ascended equipment anymore. I wouldn’t mind another scavenger hunt like we had to get Mawdrey II, in fact that was one of my favorite “PvE” updates in recent times. I’m a bit disappointed about the way the Star of Gratitude was released being an event-only item; as a player I would be quite upset about not being able to get such a significant item until next December. I know most of the dev team is probably working their butts off on the expansion but there has to be someone who’s taken notice of all the excess Dragonite players are accumulating.

If the trait change is coming before HoT why not the final ascended omnomer? Anyone else filling up bank/bag space with Dragonite? (cough SW chest farm coughcough)

Even if there was a Mawdrey for Dragonite Ore you’d still end up with 10k+ of it stashed away due to the daily limitations on these kinds of items. You still have a overabundance on Bloodstone Dust/Dragonite Ore. I still have my alt crammed full of 30 Bloodstone Stacks and the only way to get rid of it all is to not play the game for 2+ months outside of feeding it daily.

Although I have 50 stacks of Dragonite Ore, especially after this unsuccessful beta key farm, which is worse than having 30 so it’d still have a use, but seriously; the limit is just so bad… ;/

I would find it awesome and cute, if the living story Dragon Egg would turn out to be an ally, that we will be seeing later as “house pet” in our personal instance, once all the threats around it are over for noew and to provide it a safe “home” under our own protection, where it will work then also a “dragonite eater” for us…

Would make all somewhat of sense to let a dragon hatchling let eat dragonite ore to grow and become stronger.

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

I badly need a converter for Dragonite Orr. I’ve resorted to turning two of my alts into dragonite packmules, and I’ve still got more in a bank tab.

Hopefully when it’s added, they also give it a bigger appetite (i.e more gifts per day, or alternately, consuming more dragonite to give improved quality gifts) to help make up for the fact that it is getting added later than the other converters. The new converter will have a lot of catching up to do.

I just toss the stuff, really. There is no way in hell you’ll be able to convert that many stacks at a respectable rate.

I’d be happy if I could just vendor the stuff, in all honestly. I have zero interest in crafting. I will never have ascended armor or weapons. I will never have a legendary. I’m fine with that. But it’s getting tiresome deleting the stacks of ascended crafting materials. I get that you don’t want us to sell them at the Trading Post, but please put a reasonable vendor value on them so they’re not entirely worthless to me. I’d love that.

They said they are coming out with something to deal with that, but we are swimming in so much of it ATM.
Even if they don’t have something that can drop soon, maybe a MF recipe could drop.
The time for Dragon Bash is coming up. Even if we don’t actually have the event, maybe give us some usage as currency or trade with vendors.
Something plzthx.

I’ve managed to get rid of the excess with that Christmas star or whatever. I hate Mawdrey though because it requires crafting. As long as the new trash compactor doesn’t require crafting, I’m all over it.

They’ll make one eventually but seriously, just throw it out.

You can get a full stack in about 20 minutes from sw…

Hopefully they could increase the limit, it’s only 4 times now per day? So not even a full stack at once, and a Dragontite one would be useful.

I just delete it.

I keep 15 of each of the refined versions and 250 unrefined in my materials tab (250 because that’s the max, 15 because that’s an arbitrary number I decided on). Anything more than that I delete.

I see absolutely no reason to keep it when it’s so easy to get. If they bring out a new use for it I’ll save up however much I need then.

Technically speaking, the max for your material storage is 1500, not 250, though that does require spending gems in the gem store to buy storage expanders, but there are people out there that have maxed out material storage. Personally I have mine up to 1000 right now, and I’ve managed to almost get every T5 material to that limit, the rare T5’s for sure, and most of the basic T5 is maxed out as well. I’ve been toying with the idea of buying the final two expansion keys from the store, and then filling everything up to the 1500 limit, at least the basic materials and some rare as well. Otherwise I just toss the Dragonite Ore I get now, as I have that 1000 in material storage and another 2000 on one character…don’t really need it otherwise.

What if there was a collection that gave us a mini-pet as the final result that was a Dragonite Hatchling (or something else) and it gave us an inventory item that we double clicked to consume dragonite ore?

It’s three to five times a day, amount is rng. So you may get 150 or 200 or 250 used a day.

Most people should delete the stacks after refining what they need for ascended gear, unless you have plenty of storage already. Lacking extraordinary luck, you’ll use 5-10 times as much coin for storage as you would gain from saving dragonite to convert to gifts later.

There are two big exceptions:

  • You really really really love opening things (like a scratch-off lottery).
  • You have tons and tons of storage

Otherwise, you’re spending time every day micromanaging your inventory to ensure you have room for more ascended mats, figuring out where you stored something you want, and unloading/salvaging before/during/after farming runs (whether silverwastes or other).

Some math for those who want to verify my conclusions:

  • A stack of gifts is worth 15-20 gold, according to research from redditor barath56. Gift of Generosity data & Gift of Mawdrey data
  • A stack of gifts requires 50 stacks of unrefined mats, so 50 slots of storage.
  • 50 slots takes 100-140 gold depending on conversion rates and how you build up your storage (easiest is one new toon at 800 gems, ~144g today).

Other trivia:

  • Each stack of mats will (eventually) convert to ~40s.
  • It takes ~60 days of daily conversion to get a full stack of gifts.
