I can’t seem to use any of this stuff yet with my crafters as I am breaking down every item I get from world bosses and yet few ectoplasm and STILL can’t get enough crafting leveled up .. am I missing something ..

I think i am coming up on 1000 dragonite ore now and whatever the other common drop crafting material is I get from WB kills BUT can’t get enough crafting skill ..

just hoping (against hope) someone has a solution

I have 13,874 dragonite ore.

Get used to piling it up.

If you have no use for it, just destroy it.

Like you said, it’s not hard to come by. If you really needed a load for ascended gear, you’d be able to quickly farm enough by doing World Bosses.

I have refined a lot of mine into dragonite ingots for prospective ascended gear, but still haven’t used much of it.

They might eventually introduce a dragonite ore eater item (Like Mawdrey and the Star of Gratitude) but my guess it is still a long way off. You mainly get junk in return from the eater items anyway, so it’s really not worth wasting bank/inventory slots on such garbage. :P

If you really want to stockpile, make a new character and fill the inventory up with your Dragonite Ore.

You have to consider these things on a strictly cost-benefit basis. The cost of storing it is high (inconvenience, lack of room for other items) whilst its overall benefit is very low.

I save 4 stacks in bank. then I destroy any i get after. no regret because they’re just that easy to get.

for crafting, it is a rather expensive activity to do. It’s like an end game activity. I dont suggest you craft whenever you have mats. You should craft whenever you are ready to craft to max level.

You need 450 to make dragonite into ingots and lots of obsidian shards. If you are still drowning in it, just delete it.

I keep 1 stack in the main mats bank. Another stack I build up in the bank until it reaches 250 then I throw it out. Bloodstone I feed to Mawdrey but even that is beginning to pile up.

I’m getting ready for the new expansion so I’m saving them up right now. As soon as I’ve got all the vision crystals I need I’m deleting the rest. There is really no reason to keep them if you aren’t crafting. You’ll get more if you ever need them.

I think they will eventually make a Mawdrey/Star of Gratitude type item that will consume dragonite ore (I hope) in the future. I don’t see why not – I definitely think it should be something crafted and not just given to someone via meta-achievement like Star of Gratitude. That way it gives me something to do at least…

They will but really, why is this stuff even in the game?

Ascended mats are just completely uneccessary…

I also find it annoying that the crafting materials of the highest “rarity” are by far the easiest to come by…

Its not worth processing all Dragonite Ore into Ingots.

Every Ingot eats 15s of reagents which doesnt sound like its much, but if you consider the amounts of ore to process, it end up costing a ton of money.

Only process as much ascended materials as you need, maybe get a small reserve and delete the rest.

If you have extra character slots make one and fill its bags with your extra ore. Its really likely there will be an item that eats it like mawdrey does, so eventually it will be worth something

Unless you make more than 250 a day, if thats the case you already make the max it will eat per day (if it works the same as mawdrey), so then its probably worth throwing it out

We need sinks for this stuff like some cool food,not a item that eats only 250 per day!!!!

considering you need 1500 for a full set of ascended armor and 500 for each weapon, 4 stacks isnt much.

I ended up tossing away a bunch of dragonite ore, fractal ring etc.

I understand people think it’s a good idea to keep those item, but you can make use of those inventory space to store other items too.

4k Dragonite and 3.2k Bloodstone. Its more the mentality of throwing away what “should” be rare crafting materials. A sink would be nice or reduce the need for silk in ascended armor and increase Dragonite.

If you have a storage character or a personal guild bank, you can store it in their too. But after a while, you’ll eventually want to consider just deleting a couple stacks. I passed that point a long time ago. =p

Options:

1. Refine ore into Dragonite Ingots
2. Destroy
3. Save them for whenever they plan to release a Dragonite eating item like Mawdrey and the Star of Gratitude, but as we don’t know how long that will be — * cough * hoarding * cough *

I’ve made up about 50-60 each Bloodstone bricks, Dragonite bricks and Empyreal stars. That’s more than enough to make 10-12 vision crystals for weapons or 18-20 Lesser crystals for armour. The rate it flows in at more than makes up for my consumption. Considering I don’t really want to make Ascended armour anyway, weapons would be the only consumption, barring some new recipe Anet might release.

The problem is they ‘Need’ to address it by adding devourers or crafting recipes for them. And because they need to, they have to, and cuz they have to they are destined to eventually do it. Which means they can’t be thrown away safely.

As I’m sure you’re talking about 50 stacks of Dragonite Ore and not the ingots, one would say that you’re not in good standing to tell ArenaNet to fix their crafting system in this particular case…. Since you are not actually crafting or refining any of it. >_> Just saying….

At least with bloodstone dust u can make consumables to use, u can do nothing but vision crystals with dragonite ore.. useless junk

Bah, nevermind, was looking at the cost. Augur stones are what cost 20 skill points and those are required for the lesser or normal vision crystals.

Other than making ascended items, so ‘completely’ is probably inaccurate.

I think people have a very wrong perceiption of these items. Just because they are ascended tier, people assume that they should be worth something.

But they were never intended to be loot that has a value. They were introduced to act as content tokens to make sure, you complete a certain amount of specific content in order to be able to craft ascended gear.

I am still baffled by the amount some people keep hoarding in anticipation of turning them into something valuable. I am not sure, how much the average gold value of a gift of madrey/gratitude is but it cant be more than 5-10s.
So a stack of ascended mats adds up to 25-50s.

Maybe im just out of touch with gold value to the average player because i have alot of it, but i would value a free inventory slot higher than a potential 25-50s profit some time in the future.

You can’t store account bound item in a guild bank.

They already offer this. Its called a bank tab expansion.
