So a lot of people feel like the elder dragons should be a bigger threat, and thakittens ridiculous that we’ve not touched on them since release. I’m here to help explain how that’s ok, and how why they are still a problem that needs to be dealt with eventually. First of all, we must remember that Primordus has been awake for 200 years, Zhaitan, 150, Jormag 50, and Kralkatorrik 6. They are destructive, nearly indestructible forces, yet life has continued fairly unchanged. Yes they are an ever present threat, but they aren’t imminently destroying everything. So why even worry about them at all?

Here’s the thing. Dragons eat magic. They consume it, and search for it, and that’s what leads to them destroying magical based civilizations. This is why they are dangerous. It is brought up in the Asura storyline because that makes Rata Sum a prime target. The reasons the dragons haven’t attacked it yet is the same as why they aren’t a major concern at this point in time. Location Location Location.

Primordus lives underground, with the ruins of Asura civilization. There were over half a dozen grand Asura cities that make Rata Sum look like a play pen. There were dwarven villages, and skritt hidey holes. Primordus has enough magic down there to last him an eon.

Jormag is in the Northern Shiverpeaks. Norn homesteads, ancient Jotun magic, not quite as rich as the depths of Tyria, but he’s only been there for 50 years so he’s doing ok.

Kralkatorrik is hanging out in the crystal desert, where Turai Ossa took his people for ascension. It’s littered with their relics. He also has Glint’s highly magical corpse to snack on. There’s no way he’s wanting after only 6 years of wake time.

Zhaitan was awakened with the most magical human city on top of him, he had no need to leave for 150 years, likely only conducting his attacks because his home came with a move in ready undead army, so he might as well do something with it.

In short, the dragons are a threat, because when they do get hungry, they are capable of destroying all that we hold dear in an instant. But they aren’t imminent until the run out of free food where they are.

They may be able to wait, but I can’t.

They say they’re a threat but I never felt it…certainly not in that fight against Zhaitan.

It’s a game forum. The truth is not to be found here.
