Drop rates RNG is broken.
I don’t think RNG means what you think it does.

Random Number Generator. It’s being used on every MMO game.
Don’t make statements you can’t support.

1,500 hours? I’ve got nearly 18,500 hours under my belt and still haven’t had one drop, yet I’m not complaining. RNG isn’t about being entitled to something due to time served.
>12k hours, no pre drop.
Get in line, kid.

So you know what the acronym stands for, but you seem to be unable to grasp the concept. You could play for another 10 years and never see a particular drop. Someone could login for the first time and get lucky. That’s the random aspect.
No gear progression, and thank goodness for that.
You may want to consider a different game for gear progression.
Good luck.
I have around 3k hours and I got 2 precursors as drop. I got the bard from a champ bag and the chosen as direct drop from centaurs while doing leather farm…..those are just numbers kid….
This game is the most gear friendly mmorpg out there and thank goodness! While BDO is great, it’s such a relief comming back and appreciating the ability to enjoy the game and not continously struggle for gear. The Journey to ascended gear you can make through many means, and luckily exotics arnt too far behind.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
Here i am with 1500 hours of gameplay and still haven’t gotten a precursor nor anything of real value. Yet a friend of mine just started with trial and got a precursor drop. I have over 160% passive magic find and he had kittenin 0 yet he got it by a champ bag!
After doing research there is literally a whole subject on “lucky characters”.
Fix your RNG Anet.
What is there to fix? Random is random.
Random means, there is no guarantee for a drop. Its like playing the lottery. People play lottery their whole life and most of them never win the first price.
I’ve been playing since launch. The best thing I’ve had “drop” albeit from a large chest in VB was a rare staff skin (Lightbearers?). With a food luck buff my luck is around 183. Whether this has any effect on the RNG I’m not sure.

What do you think a “Random Number Generator” means?
Hours played have nothing to do with how many precursors you have, since how you spend that time affects your chances significantly.
Besides which, the game is designed to that you don’t have to get a precursor to drop: nearly everything we do (except sneezing and chatting) generates loot, which mostly can be monetized and saved up to buy a precursor.
Plus, you probably haven’t tracked how many less notable unusual drops you’ve received. It’s entirely possible that the player next door got 3 precursors worth 1500 gold, while you got none, but that over similar time periods, you got lesser drops worth a few percent more. That would drive your gold/time up higher than you neighbor’s — they would have the flashier drops; you’d have the last laugh on the way to your bank.
tl;dr not getting a precursor isn’t by itself evidence of a problem with RNG in this game.
No such thing as lucky accounts; just lucky people.
RNG is random. If something has a 0.001% chance of dropping then it will drop that percentage of the time on average across the entire player base. It doesn’t distinguish between the number of hours a particular player has played the game.
Have seen streaks of really good luck and really bad, which to me is RNG. If the OP had seen a precusor in just 1500 hours I too would have considered that really lucky. You want things like pre’s to be ultra rare.

There is no guaranty no matter how long you have been playing of getting anything. I have a friend that has played over 10K hours and got his first precursor out of the forge last weekend.
I bought a second account and got my first toon to level 10 and got a BL Key. I opened a chest and got an iron node on that first key.
Anet realized that all people want a chance at legendaries, so they created a way to craft them. If you don’t get a precursor drop, then make any legendary you want.
There is no rhyme or reason. It is random. That is all.

Magic Find does not affect bags/chest, however there are a very few exceptions.

Don’t argue with idiots, they pull you down their level and own you with experience.

Let’s see .. about 2400 hours and no precursor and no drops over 80g worth. Gee, it’s almost like it’s random or something.
Also, “lucky characters” isn’t a real thing. It’s made-up bs by people who can’t seem to understand what the R in RNG stands for.
