Say I play a guardian, if I wanna stay in the meta, will I be forced to play with dragon hunter?

In other words, will they be mandatory (to stay on-par with others, meta-wise.)

It all depends on how the meta shakes out. The elite specs themselves aren’t intended to be inherently better than the base profession, just giving an alternative way to play the profession.

Ty.

I hope DH wont be too present in the meta, I’d hate to play my guardian as a hunter.

I’m not too concerned about where the meta will go, but I believe there will be plenty of room for elite spec and non-elite spec players. After all, there are plenty of players who won’t have HoT and therefore won’t have access to the elite specs.

Currently, DH looks like it won’t be anywhere near the meta for anything, anyway.

Remember, it is possible to play the spec without using its weapon. If spec becomes meta, I doubt it would be with longbow:)

Umm… What is meta for Guardian? Why choose meta for Guardian if you don’t enjoy it? Do you play ESL or other competative stuff that needs total perfection or do you just play the game to have fun?

Becouse most content is possible in GW2 with ok builds.

I use my Greatsword, Mace/Shield symbol meditation guardian still and I played DH during 1st BWE and it was not my cup of tea at all. So even if it where to get meta I would not play it anyway becouse I didn’t like the playstyle. I can though think of very good build for PvP with DH line but I havent tried them so I dunno.

I have enjoyed this game for 3 years, never gotten kicked from a PUG and I have mostly always been respected for how I play and my knowledge. I have done most content except for fractals level 50 but that is becouse I am always helping my guild doing lower level Fractals and I am not complaining, though I still don’t think that you need to play meta to compleate it.

Say NO! to meta and yes to your own creativity!

The only elite spec that is a straight upgrade is the chronomancer, but everything else comes down to play style and preference. Remember that to take one spec you have to leave another one, so most of the meta will stay relevant

Everything is viable in this game. The point of the meta is optimal clearing times.

Therefore, OP, you don’t have to play the meta either way. But, yes, if DH becomes meta, most people will want you to run it in their dungeon groups.
Having said that, I’m sure there will still be a meta for people who don’t have HoT, so it won’t be that big of a deal if you use that instead.
