There are tons of dungeons in game, each have their own set of coins. This forces players to have to re-run one dungeon over and over and over again. The problem with this is that people get sick of one dungeon and move on, then you have to use external sites to get people to run that one dungeon.

Why not:

Make one universal dungeon coin, then we could run what ever dungeon as many times as we want and then we could go to the appropriate vendors to get what ever armour we wanted….

Why all the different coins?

Because if you want Arah armor… you should have to run Arah. Dungeon armors are supposed to be “prestige” armors. Meaning that by wearing them, you are showing off your skills/accomplishments. Whatever… doesn’t matter if its true or not.

Considering you can start running AC explore at level 35… no, you shouldn’t be able to run ac to level and buy arah gear when you are done.

One word: Diversity.

Maybe it’s a design thing, wherein the diverse coins are there to bring players to repeat the dungeons over and over (There are different paths in Explorable mode, so it isn’t very boring) and to keep the dungeon alive. I mean, making a universal dungeon could mean players will just focus on one and forget the rest.

If there was a universal dungeon token, then of all 25 explorable dungeon paths, only the easiest 1-5 would ever get run and all the others would get neglected.

Exactly why there are different coins!

It took me six days of running Twilight Arbor to get the full set of exotic armor. 3 paths each day with a few repeats here and there. It isn’t hard.

I regularly put together a few AC PUG runs every time I play since I’m trying to get a few of the weapons. Haven’t ever had trouble getting people to run it with me, don’t even need to use gw2lfg.

I agree that universal tokens aren’t a good idea for the reasons mentioned in this thread.

A friend of mine had an idea that I thought was kind of cool, they should rotate weeks where one dungeon is ‘featured’ and for that week your first run drops 80 tokens instead of the normal 60. They could rotate dungeons every week to make sure all of them get focus and this would encourage people to fill less populated dungeons like CM and Honor.

Seemed like a good idea to me.
