Dye-able Weapons
It won’t happen. They’re too fond of just recoloring a weapon and calling it a new skin.

Being able to dye your weapons was a thing in the original Guild Wars series. It wasn’t added in for Guild Wars 2. I’d love to see it make a return, but not sure if that’ll ever be a thing for Guild Wars 2.

I think they only did that because they didn’t have the capacity to colour weapons (game engine wise).
One of my top five wishes for the game. +1 hundred.
that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”

I don’t really buy that, but the reason why doesn’t actually matter.
What matters is that a lot of the craftable weapon skins are just recolors of the same basic model. The three kinds of SAB skins are the same. They’d have to go back and rework all of those in order to give us colorable weapons. Given what they already seem to think they don’t have time for, I don’t see them doing that. Ever.

Have Anet mentioned this? Can these be a thing? pls?
They did mention it. They made a design decision 2-3 years before release that they wouldn’t do this — turned out to save them a lot of trouble, time, coding, design. In theory, they can turn out more skins that aren’t dyeable. In practice, as some have pointed out, many weapons are identical except for color(s).
