Has anyone had a problem with dye drop rates lately? Before about a week ago I was getting at least 2-4 drops per day playing 12 hours a day. Now I have gotten just 2 dye drops in about a weeks time. Anyone else having a similar experience?

I haven’t seen dye drop in about a week. Granted, I usually only get to play 15-20 hours a week, but yeah.

While I don’t pick up as many dyes as at launch, I also haven’t noticed a dramatically striking decrease in the drop rate either. Maybe I’m just lucky with the dye RNG….. shrug

I’ve just done 100% world completion, and during the lower level zones I must have looted about a dozen dyes over maybe 8 hours (multiple sessions). The are still dropping.

Thats the thing… I only seem to find them in low level areas on any consistency. If I play a low level alt I get them not once my character reaches about 20+.

There was a “perceived” tendency in GW1 for dye to drop more in the lower level zones. I know a friend did the Legendary Defender of Ascalon title in pre-Searing, and I created characters on 3 occasions to ferry dyes to his post-searing characters. That was a lot of dye.

In GW2, I’ve seen a lot of dye drops since launch, and the frequency seems to be down for me. I tend to get more in lower level zones… maybe it’s tinfoil hat time?

On my 80 Elementalist, I’ve gotten maybe 2-3 dye drops in the last fortnight, doing high level content. I decided to make a Warrior a couple of days ago, and I’ve had about 20 dyes drop during my completion of two low level zones. Also made a new Thief to run around Ashford with friends, and had 3 dyes drop in the space of an hour.

I don’t want to don my tinfoil hat just yet (maybe I’ve just had a string of good luck lately), but it does seem like the chance of obtaining dyes is higher in low level zones.

The other day I got 2 off one mob! .. fist time that has ever happened to me.

They ARE out there in higher-level areas as well.. farming around Frostgorge has netted me maybe 20 in the last 5 days. I don’t have an exact number, because I TP them as soon as I get them. I even got one yesterday from a moa.

yes, they do drop better the lower the area is.

i think the “omg dye drops nerfed” posts come from people only playing 80s in high level areas.

i take my 80 to the lowest zones and dyes drop “normally” again.

this is probably an inbuilt dye system that allows low characters to acquire all the dye they need before they are mid-level.

Ive definitely seen an increase in dye droprates. For weeks Ive perhaps found 2-3 dyes. The last few days Ive seen 10+ drop. Perhaps its because I have been leveling through 60-70 areas, dunno.

There is DYE drop rate increase.

I got 5 dyes in 1h today while i was doing few shelter farms in Cursed shore today.

Before i got 0 in many hours (and before you say i never hit DR since i never stay to much in 1 place)
