You sure you read that correctly. Because I’m pretty sure they switched them from account bound to character bound during the BWE’s.

Yeah you have it reversed OP. Originally it was account bound but they changed it to character bound during the BWE’s.

Dyes were originally intended to be account bound but they changed it to character bound in an attempt to make gem store dye packs a more attractive purchase.

A secondary effect of this is that the dyes do retain some value in terms of the trading post, though. That’s not entirely bad.

I remember that there was some vocal(minority) people complaining about having to get the same dye they already had to another character and a dev said they would look on it.

Exactly and looking into it is not the same as promising to change it.

Hope it stays this way, i enjoy having something useful coming out of bags and hidden stashes for each character, having it account bound would mean that once my main has collected all dyes, they become useless and there value on the TP would be next to nothing.
