Can anyone tell me what happened to the e-sport aspiration of GW2?

For now i see closed section of GW2 on esl website and no actuall info about plans when ArenaNet wants to start the real campaign to promote Guild Wars 2 on the e-sport arena.

I know we lack of Sepctator mode yet and balance , but 2 months passed and still no factual and clear info about that aspect.

The game still has alot of work before it can be a true, serious esport.

LoL wasn’t even close to an esport when it released.

They have said plenty about this. Spectator mode is a must and is still being worked on. Also the paid servers are being added in for teams to use to start practicing and paid tournaments for high competition/high rewards. There are also some maps in testing.

When it debuts on ESL or MLG, it needs to be fully featured and easy to spectate/commentate. That takes time and a good bit of internal/community testing. I think it’s getting closer, step by step. But may be a little while yet before esports leagues are ready to kick it off.

They really not to work a little bit more on that in Guild Wars 2, if this game should be played in competition mode.

There are a few things missing before it can be started in leagues like ESL, ClanBase, whatever. First thing is Spectator Mode.
Second Thing are seperated Servers where everyone can connect (password requiered), so Admins are abled to join the Game too.
Third: Anti-Cheat Engine. There are really enough people hacking around in this Game at the moment. They also have to include something to record demos.

There’s alot of work for ArenaNet before GW2 can start to be competitiv.
