It has been bothering me that this is somehow acceptable for “scholars” to wear but this is not. To keep this short why are armor skins locked behind class when a warrior can wear this and a thief can wear this ?

Would it be any different than a elementalist wearing this or a warrior wearing this ? I’m not suggesting we get to mix and match weight sets but something like the outfit system, only instead of an outfit it would be a base version of the weight class I.E Worn scale armor that can be transmutated like normal armor of that weight class.

Make no mistake this is about Fashion and nothing else, and if new armor is only going to be released every expansion, I think it would be a low effort response for the hurting independent fashion scene. Besides armor skins still have to be earned, making it a great motivator to do more content.

But what about PvP?

“You can wear outfits in PVP. However, in ranked play, your opponents probably won’t see it. In ranked play, there’s an option of toggling standardized models, which will cause your opponents to all appear as humans, with a different outfit based on their class. You’ll still see your own outfit though.”

TL;DR? Anyone with Balthazar’s regalia and a great sword could be half the classes in the game , so why does it matter if it is an outfit depicting heavy armor or heavy armor skin? Can the Gem store get an armor training license?

I’d personally rather there be at least some distinctions between classes, and the most visual way of doing it is through their armour. That, and the fact I don’t want to play a game where people are running around wearing mixed armour like the example below.

At least with outfits, there’s a way for one class to look somewhat like another class, but let’s remember that outfits are single, set pieces.

To your first point, its too late. Outfits will eventually outpace armor at some point. The visual line, which is already irrelevant in the only situation it matters, is already blurred.

You say it disagrees with your sensibilities but the line is already crossed as you can see in my examples, at this point does it really matter?

To your second I said this is not about mixing and matching.

We can’t mix armor weights because of lining up issues with the different weights. There are enough outfits so you can look like what ever you want. But armor skins are all there own part. Making it so we could make custom outfits would probably be more work than any potential cash gain for ANet.

I agree, its why I already said I’m not talking about mix and matching.

“I’m not suggesting we get to mix and match weight sets but something like the outfit system, only instead of an outfit it would be a base version of the weight class I.E Worn scale armor that can be transmutated like normal armor of that weight class.”

Edit* also there are not enough Outfits IMO, nothing compared to the armors already in game, all I’m suggesting is the ability to swap armor weights.
