I was highly excited on how you will be able to earn traits pre patch. However they all seem to just go to Arah and do some temple run to earn the same things for every class. It wasn’t as interactive as I hoped for.

I was thinking for example Amplify Wrath in guardians. I would Imagine we would need to kill some Ancient Drake with magical properties, and to learn the Amplify Wrath ( 33% increase in burn dmg ) we will need to stand in one of its flames for a duration to actually train and learn the arts. At least doing this will give a little bit of story to the skill, achievement, and interactivity. Instead of everyone go kill Arah gate event to learn something.

Where did the inspiration and passion go?

When I logged in under my necro today I did notice that two of the traits sent me to Arah. I hope that is not the case where they are in Arah. Kind of a let down if that is the case.

I had really hoped this would be much more scavenger huntish, much like GW1. I loved skill hunting in GW1. I’m a tad disappointed I have to repeat the same bosses to unlock multiple character skills. Would have been much more fun to have them themed to the class. People would still get them done, esp if tied to already popular/semi popular world bosses, explorable areas, JPs, even major event lines in various maps.

I believe the discovery of trait lines and numbers are the same across classes so that everyone gets a shared experience. Note: not saying I agree with that, but that’s what it appears to be like.

I’m very happy to go do Grenth again, and very happy to do the Karka queen again, but not to do all these tasks on every character in a methodical fashion to unlock every trait. When I see Grenth pop up I just want to go and do it, not log all my characters on and off just to see who needs that trait.

Ele’s was like that too. The only one that was really different was Aqua Benevolence. That one to find a Great Chest in a sunken ship in Straights.

The potential is there, but the current execution sounds like it’s was a lot of copy/paste stuff.

Ship of Sorrows is on all characters too I believe.

Seems like its all the same. Karka Queen, Ship of Sorrows, Risen Wizard, Lyssa, Grenth.

Having eight characters means I’ll probably end up buying some of the skills, rather than go out hunting for them which is what I was looking forward to doing.

On one hand it gets more people doing Orr. On the other, it makes it feel a bit more grindy than adventuresome.

I liked the Sunken Ship trait task. It was fun, and I could just go do it without waiting for a timer or having to rally a group. The other Trait tasks should be more like this imo. Taking people to interesting places throughout Tyria.

The problem for me with the other 4 trait tasks is that they’re dependant on specific events and conditions. The trait task to kill the Risen Priestess of Lyssa for example, suffers from this. Because the new update has made the Lyssa temple a popular camping spot, once the temple has been capped people show up afterwards hanging around, doing the defence events, and therefore denying people a chance to get the trait via the trait task, which is a major design flaw. The Karka Queen task is also tied into the new fixed event times, which could be a problem for some.
