Earnings forecast hints at expansion Q3 2015?
Join ArenaNet president and co-founder Mike O’Brien and Guild Wars 2 game director Colin Johanson for an exclusive sneak peek at what’s next in Guild Wars 2 and be among the first to hear how we’re setting up a new framework for how an MMO can grow its universe. The Living World was just the beginning.
Judging by their choice of words I would completely rule out a traditional expansion. It sounds more like they’ve come up with a revamped LS model.
Interesting thought. You may be right.
Even if it’s an expansion, what will you be paying for? Another opportunity to repeat the cycle? Will the expansion just be more things, races, and places? Will anything that needs to get fixed ever get fixed? Or will every last bit of the mechanics be the same? And if they’ve got fixes for the mechanics, why aren’t they deploying them now?
SO what happens if they fix mechanics and bugs and i dont pay for the expansion?
Will those not be fixed for me?

Guys, you need to realize one thing:
In a few weeks they will host a huge event @ PAX. That is the date when the “big side project” will be revealed, and due to Anet’s revealing policies, they are only allowed to talk about them when they are nearly finished.
That means only 1 thing: They will reveal it and it will be nearly finished. Therefore Q3 is too far away, and we can expect its date to be in this spring.

full forecast. They even say “expansion expected 2015 Q3”. I wonder why.
One of these days they will actually be right.

They just use logic, data, and market trends to make their forecasts…
Anet I’m pretty sure just relies on a broken magic 8 ball to tell them what to do.
A stopped clock is at least right twice a day.
Not on Mars.
We have seen this posted a hundred times here and on reddit. it a prediction by an investment ferm nothing else, they don’t have any inside information they just anolize and predict this is not a reliable sorce. I can see it now when there is no expantion pack this year all the mentaly imiture peoples that have fallen for this hype will come on the forum and cry and whine “Anet you promissed and expantion”. This is why game devs can’t be as open as they would like to be.
I’m not fully expecting an expansion, per-say, but it certainly looks like Anet has something substantial planned if there’s such a huge jump in revenue predicted. I HIGHLY doubt they would expect that kind of an increase from an announcement for Living Story: Season 3, given it’s lackluster delivery and mixed opinions from the player base.
To quote someone earlier, I will remain cautiously optimistic, but I am indeed intrigued, nonetheless.
Also… your spelling is abysmal.
Don’t get me wrong I love to see an expansion but I realy think it’s going to be something totally different then what is expected in a traditional expansion, hopefully it will be enought to make everyone happy. If it’s not an expansion then it better be something so fantastic that it blows everyone away and they totally forget about an expansion.
put the correct term in but not everyone has kittens
I’m really surprised at how much both of the Lineage games still make
Lineage is South Korea’s UO/WoW. It’s been going on for over 16 years. A lot of players have a lot of time and money invested in those characters. Lineage II’s population seemed to defected to AION when it launched. While Lineage’s income has increased in the last 5 years, Lineage II’s income has dropped off by 65%.
RIP City of Heroes
I don’t think I’d hold my hopes up for an expansion, regardless of what some forecast says. Anything can happen in the world of gaming; development schedules are held up for some unknown factor, other unforeseen factors step in as new priorities, etc. I’m saying not to get optimistic about anything in this game – we’ve been let down before, and more than once.
“Obtaining a legendary should be done through legendary feats…
Not luck and credit cards.”
I’m really surprised at how much both of the Lineage games still make
Lineage is still the world’s most profitable MMO of all time behind WoW.
so this means gw 2 is losing players ?
well im not here to act like a unpatience child but i came here like 3 months ago and game got boring for me after 2 months coz actualy there was nothing new i can feel how players who playing for 2 years feel like it realy must be borig , also i check other mmo games websites they r keep geting updates the mmo i played before gw 2 got 2 new classes in these 4 months and so many patches , and its not only that game all those mmos got so many updates and new things when i log in those games soemtimes its like a whole new world …. , anyway i thought anet doesnt lose players and it have so many players so they think even if they dont update game much nothing changes , anywya if we r geting new features it must be more than changing previous 1 and adding some new items …. in this game u get all u need after weeks and then game is only casual for wvw and pvp players
I’m wondering….
Did the analysts show a marked increase in income the other times they predicted an expansion? I don’t remember seeing that before. I might have just missed it, but it seemed different this time around.
Maybe they feel more confident this time….who knows?
also 1 more thing , if there will be an expansion why anet hides it even from its own players ? its not a secret CIA project ! if there is an expansion let players know let them have hope playing and not leaving game also some best games like wow tells about expansion more than 1 year before it comes out and not only tell there will be 1 they even say new features also it gives players opetunity to tell what theyw ant in new expansion . the expansion is for players to play so i belive players must have a vote atleast on some new features , anyway i belive there is a big new thing but mybe not in a form of an expansions , i feel sad for myself its over a month i check website of gw 2 every day several times to see whats new and i see nothing new….. while other mmos websites give news about game every day or atleast several times a day

Yes. It went from 19 to 50 to 75 for 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters when they thought it was going to come 2nd half of 2013.

There is absolutely no way the president and game director of Anet reserved 90 minutes at the main theater of PAX South to announce Living World Season 3. It has to be an expansion, or we’re in for some serious cringe.
I’m generally expecting let-down, disappointment and cringe-worthy drivel.
If its anything better than that, I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
While telling us ahead of time, don’t forget that if they do announce it it may not be ready until 4th quarter to tie into the holiday season, can create buzz, missing said delivery time would insight cries to the heavens about the delay. Once again, kitten if they do, kitten if they don’t.
RIP City of Heroes
Considering that Anet has said nothing at all about an expansion and all of the current hype has been generated by deluded players feeding off rumour and speculation that they themselves have invented, I would not be surprised if Anet make no big announcement – nor would I be disappointed. It’s only a minority of players deluding themselves with their own hype and lies who are going to get frustrated by this in the end, regardless of the outcome, and to be perfectly honest, they get what they deserve.
I can already see the cries of “Anet broke their promises” and “Anet are liars” from that deluded minority now.
Ahh..cool. Then, nothing out of the ordinary. Thanks, Behellagh.

The one who said your post was a good idea is the liar. Get back on earth and realize Anet didn’t write “a new framework for how an MMO can grow its universe. The Living World was just the beginning” if they hadn’t something huge incoming.
That is a greater hint than this made up earnings forecast.
Wildstar gets what it deserves for the dated solutions and most of all horrible fps issues in a game in which gameplay is very dependant on smooth framerate. Lesson to be learned for future mmo releases.
one thing that I fear is that there will never be a game like it. Finally there was a difficult MMO on the market aaaaand it died. Yeah… So much for variety.
It just proved once more that not a lot people really want to have overly hard content
and that raiders and elitists are simply a minority even if they don’t want to believe
it because they are overly represented at most forums. Also @ANet .. take that at a hint that EQ-Style Raids is the last thing we need to “save” the game.
Way to turn what i said upside down. I never said difficulty was the issue. It was the execution and sticking to old solutions – not difficulty wise, but player friendliness wise. For example non-shared harvesting nodes and the feeling every player (mostly of your own faction!) is a disaster on two legs waiting to rob you of your node..
Difficult fights are good as long as they’re difficult by design, and not by kittenty engine screwing everything up.
Wait so 50€ expansion? ehhh…..
I think its about time to be ruthless about ppl complaining about the cost of an expansion if they said they wanted something of the like in the past.
GW2 need a good expansion or two because EQ NEXT is coming, its like free copy of GW2 with world destructions and almost same classes…..just wait and see.
You get what you ask for and i image you asked for expansion more times then this.

I fully agree with the last sentence there. Others are speculating that it’s going to be a revamped Living Story model, but I just don’t see any way that sales would skyrocket simply because of a repackaged Living World update. The question then becomes: if it’s not an expansion, then what else can it possibly be?
This is what has piqued my interest. I want an expansion, I won’t lie, but I’ll believe it when I see it. PAX isn’t that far away either, so it’s not like we have to wait very long. Fingers crossed!
Don’t put too much faith into the report. Anyone who has traded stocks long enough knows that these analysts are something of a cross between dart-throwing monkeys and lemmings. Turn on CNBC any morning and you will find that so-and-so analyst cut some stock X from a buy to a sell AFTER the company reported poor earnings. All these reports sound fancy, but involve a lot of guesses. If the analysis was so good, they should have known before earnings, no? Others have posted that these analysts also predicted an expansion in the past and it has not come true.
in the time it took them to add 3 small useless zones they could’ve made whole expansions, but they rather add more junk in the game then actually add useful stuff like the crystal desert or elona for instance.
they are wasting good man hours on fluff no one asked for, changing systems no one wanted changed and make the game more and more for sesame street level players.
ask your self this, is this the Anet we have grown to love from the GW1 time or is this Anet china we’re dealing with?

Never played GW1 and never been to China.
I like this game, though.
