I’m returning to GW2 back for a bit of hang gliding in the jungle. I have an 80 warrior and almost 80 elementalist.

Both have pretty rubbish yellow gear (I guess that new stuff will obsolete it?) I had beserkers, sword and horn, with a rifle on switch on the warrior. I’m jiggered if I can remember how I played him.

The elementalist I was playing to support my sons guardian. That was a stave build though I think I have daggers for him (again pretty poor stuff).

Anyway, any suggestions for cruising round the jungle? I think my leaning is towards the ele I think I read staff got some love?

Any suggestions for solid straight forward builds that are not too gear dependent until I get the hang of things again? (i’ll happily research them of course just looking for a nudge in the right direction).

Thanks.

I’ve never been good at builds, but I think condi ele is the (or at least one of) thing. But that might be just a raid thing. I always hear my guildie be all ecstatic during raids. And I guess warrior is flat dmg? I don’t have these types of characters at 80, so I have no idea. But this is just my general idea. Check the gw2 wiki page for nomenclatures. There might be a few new ones you haven’t seen before.

look at metabattle.com for builds.
There are other build sites, I just like this one.

There is a heavy lean towards zerker (exotic zerker gear at orr temples for karma) and 2 gold each runes and 20 gold each sigils but I’ve found the cheaper variants to be absolutely fine for soloing around.

Blame Abaddon, he loves your tears.
pve, raid, pvp, fractal, dungeon, world clearing, legendary questing.. Zapped!

Just surviving solo to goof around a bit is the first objective. I’ve forgotten so much. I also have a bank and 5 characters stuffed full of assorted bits and pieces a lot of which I cant even remember what its for. Most mat slots are full too. Black Lion will be making some commission I guess.

Probably jumping the gun thinking about ‘builds’ but having something to work towards would be no bad thing.

Slightly bewildered!!

Just wanted to pop in and say that HoT is basically balanced around exotic, so it may be a bit harder in rares. But no other armor tier, so no, no new gear to make gear obsolete. Just new stat combos

If you are just cruising, you can probably make your own build easy enough just reading the trait descriptions since they trashed most of the traits and removed complex choices (no back picks a master with your grandmaster etc). You’ll probably want Water or Arcane (I’m assuming no tempest yet) or if you need a bit of extra breathing room while you adjust, both. If you’re sticking in pve, metabattle has some zerker builds iirc, googling “Sand Squall tank” with get you a forum link to a crazy elementalist condition build that seems tough as hell once you get the hang of it that you’d probably want to edit in moar condition damage.

Also, don’t bother getting the epic 10g per rune for a few % moar damage rune sets for your exotic, like someone earlier mentioned.
I use undead for my condition/toughness/x builds for example with duration increasers for pve as they’re cheap as dirt and give an ok bonus (there is probably a better cheap option).
If you can keep burning up on a direct damage build most of the time as a side effect (seems possible, in groups especially) Flame Legion runes are pretty cheap with a 7% damage modifier

You can goof around in a build editor like this (there a several out there): http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/ to look at the runes etc beforehand to get a bit of an idea on what you want on your character

Yes, it will be. Most everyone’s moved onto exotics and ascended gear…

There’s still plenty of people in Orr for karma. I can’t recall if Silver wastes (the area before HoT) gives karma when events are being farmed, but you can pop over there too.

Plenty of people still do the world bosses too.

Board was slow updating and I managed to delete both my recent posts. Telliani was answering my question weather HoT would be difficult in rares rather than exotics and where people tend to farm Kama nowadays?

Yes it was

check dulfy.com for the times of world bosses. Not sure when you last played, but they’re all on a schedule now.

Until Wintersday is done, popping a booster and karma food and doing the Bell Choir Ensemble activity will yield nice karma. It’s about 1600 per song boosted and just over 1000 without buffs.

I think this guide is still decent for gear up. Eles doing HoT content seem to be mixing in some celestial or soldier’s for durability as needed. The ele forums would be a good place to go. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/forums/showthread.php?13853-No-Nonsense-Guide-to-Gearing-Up-at-Level-80
