Easy money in the trading post?

Hi guys,
I got a character to level 60 last night, equipped with most of the stuff I wanted, and now I’m broke. I also have 3 level 80s, but I stopped them once I hit 80. I don’t have any character who has more than 65% of the world explored yet, and the highest area I have been in is Iron Marches. I only do PVE by the way.

What is the easiest way to “farm” or make money so I can equip these characters better? I just hit 50% magic find last night, so rares are stil pretty scarce. I was thinking about wood or other “gathering” items?

Please advise. Thanks for your help.

You should just go ahead and get to level 80. Then you can run dungeons which give 1g per path each day, and 26s each subsequent run after that.

Beyond that any of the materials used to make ascended weapons will sell okay, which are mostly low to mid level materials (iron, soft wood, hard wood, platinum, etc).

It might be a good idea to stockpile gold and silver, too. As those will be used in ascended armor recipes whenever they come out.

If you want to farm for money then you will want to do daily dungeon path runs. For the sake of sanity just stick to like 5 paths a day. I recommend AC p1 and p3, CoF p1 and p2, and HoTW p1. I find them to be pretty easy.

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.

TA fwd fwd is also a simple path on par with those listed above. If you know how to time your dodges any path in CoE will work here too.

Do whatever you enjoy. Ten hours at a slower pace but having fun is better than one hour of ultra grind and quitting out of boredom.

I think he’s having fun at this point and just wants to not be broke and/or wants to buy something expensive (precursor). If you don’t grind for money and just played and sold what you pick up you can still have some income (generally for me it’s like 10g/week if I literally don’t try to make money and/or don’t get lucky drops), but sometimes you want to accelerate your income.

Your weekly income is completely RNG based anyway if you don’t farm. Some weeks I get nothing, this week I got a level 62 exotic chest piece that dropped from a WvW kill while I was leveling an alt. It sold for 12g….yea….I was shocked at the price for that one. Also got a level 62 exotic scepter or something that sold for 5g. I mean, who the heck needs exotic gear at level 62, and for more than level 80 exotic gear lol. Whatever, it was nice picking up the 17g-ish from the TP afterwards.

Dungeon runs are guaranteed income at the very least.

world bosses are quite fun…
Just have someone link him gw2 stuff so he can get to them.
The granted rare means having some ecto…not rewarding as dungeons (way more than 1 gold per run… AC gives 1,5 only in the chest but after 1-2-3 you have 8-10G) but still quite rewarding without any experience requirement.

Perfect way to acquire moneys for equipment.

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

if you dont have starting capital say at lest 200g then you would not make any gold from TP so hop on your lvl80 and go farm champions/dungeons

Dungeon runs. And if you want to increase your MF% run Frostgorge or Queensdale champ trains for salvagables. You’ll get MF essences and mats to sell on the TP.

“Easy money in the trading post?”
Learn to flip….
Start with a frying pan and pancakes (easiest, or anything else that’s relatively flat and one piece), move up to hash browns and then home fries…
When you’re ready, flip items on TP….
Seriously though, dig around on flipping items and if you’re willing to take a bit of risk and put in some patience… who knows maybe you will make some gold.
Despite what matemaster said, you dont need 200g… 1g will do (just means you have to pick more carefully what to flip), 200g just makes you generate more/faster (if you’re willing to put in 200g).

A little off-topic, but not really that strange. Next time look at the Rune or Sigil in the exotic equipment drop; Chances are people are paying for that and not the item itself, and by just selling the item itself instead of salvaging the components first you may have lost out on some money.

For example, if an item comes with a Rune such as Superior Eagle, Divinity,. Traveller or Scholar, the price for the item is going to sky-rocket no matter it’s level. The same goes, for a lesser degree, for weapon sigils. Ones to look out for are popular Sigils such as Superior Sigil of Battle, Superior Sigil of Fire, or Superior Sigil of Bloodlust. At times these Sigils have fetched 5g or more each (though Fire has gone down alot in recent months, presumably due to a named unique item that drops in Champion Bags natively hosting the Fire Sigil).

For example, the other day I got a level 68 Exotic piece of Armour with a Superior Rune of Divinity in it. I could have sold it straight up for 10g, But instead I salvaged it; Then sold the Superior Divinity Rune for 11g, and gained some Dark Matter, Ectos and Mithril in the process.
