Economic depression?
- The price of 400 gems dropped below 70 g
- Noone is buying my weapon or armor skinsWhat happened?
People came from the first “big” content patch in 6 months, boosted up the prices of everything… realized there was only 10 minutes of content and left again, leaving a flood of armor/weapons/mats and gems behind.
Only reason gems are that cheap now (been as high as 93g for 400 gems during the wings sale) is cause there’s more gem purchase then ever in short period of time because of the ultimate edition pre-purchase (4000 gems).
as for nobody buying skins: I think loads of ppl took a break from the game. I think we need some festivall or something else to really pull people back. And seems lately there is some sort of ‘have enough skins now, don’t need any more unless really really cool skin’ effect on the people.
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.

OPs post got me all excited. I thought it would be a good time to buy gems. (Checks prices). Nope. It’s 18.34 gold for 100 gems. Not what I consider good.
ANet may give it to you.
It’s a) summer, people go outside, b) no additional content and c) tons of other good games. I barely log in atm. I am extremely bored and even don’t care about the daily reward. We all wait for HOT release.
‘would of been’ —> wrong

Where have you been? The rate was 55-60g/400 gems for months earlier in the year. It only spiked up recently with the introduction of certain outfits, dyes, and the white wings. It peaks around 80g/400 gems and is now close to what it was in 2014.
tl;dr the exchange rate fluctuates a lot, from month to month, with a general upward trend.
PS If no one is buying your weapons and skins, they might have been overpriced for the market in the first place.
Well, like anyone trying to make a buck by selling hard to move merchandise, maybe it’s time for a blow-out sale.
Obviously you see how the economy works just to suggest depression. Those take time to be established, there have to be certain indicators. When things ebb & flow like this sometimes you have to make price-cuts to get people buying again, which is part of a normal economy.
