Hello everybody,

After the video release of the wardrobe I am pretty much concerned about the pricings of many weapon and armor skins. What I am mainly talking about are the weapons skins that are exclusive, mainly in Living World parts. (Like Grinning Shield etc.)

How can the wardrobe affect the economy?
The demand on these rare skins is currently very high. Since they can’t be dropped anymore the prices are raising like crazy. Making the skins account bound could could decrease the price alot (Since you can use it on your whole account).

What about legendaries?
Legendaries is something I also would like to note. I have been noticing that I see very much people lately with legendaries, making them not that rare anymore. With the wardrobe feature you will be able to run for example a twilight skin on you level 3 character. This makes legendaries even less legendary in my opinion. (Please note that you will still be missing you chooseable skills on the weapon, but legendaries are mainly cosmetic).

Am I disappointed about the wardrobe?
Definetly not. I am very happy to see this feature in Guild Wars 2. I am just brainstorming how this could affect the economics and about the lesser legendary-problem.
I am definetly wondering how you think about this, and also how ArenaNet thinks about it.

Either way, Thank you for the great feature Anet!

For me it means that I am considering making eternity out of my twilight and sunrise, as I can still have a “fake” twilight as my secondary, skinned into an ascended with the same stats I always use.

It also means that I might be less likely to use some of the other rare skins I have kicking around..

I’m happy to have the opportunity to spread around my legendary skins and not concerned about them being more common.

Will this raise the price of greens and blues again as people rush to complete their sets? Maybe.

Will this increase demand for legendaries now that they can be used more than once?

Lots of speculation to be done, but it’s all guesses until the patch drops.

This will be something alot of people will be doing, so i guess deldrimor ingots and spiritwood planks will see a rise in demand again becasue people craft additional ascended weapons.

I just started refining all my globs elder spirit residue and lumbs of mithrilium that i got kicking around, as long as mat prices are still decent.

“Making the skins account bound could could decrease the price alot (Since you can use it on your whole account).”

^ incorrect, since the skins are account bound, the value is increased as people would be willing to spend more on account bound items.

look at the dye prices.

I think the impact is that it will further separate the gulf behind the high demand skins/items and the moderate demand skins/items. The demand for the rarest/best skins/items will increase since there is an increased benefit and utility from those skins/items. There’s likely an increased relative demand for legendary weapons (where the use of their skins will replace other skins) even though they become less rare over time.

For ANet, it will probably be helpful in increasing the use and need for transmutation charges and also likely increase the sales of character slots since players will get more benefit in incremental characters on an account. Smart move for ANet…a change that most players seem to be excited about which enables players to more happily make purchases from ANet.

I disagree.

Low cost common dyes sky-rocketed because people can use alts to get extra Unidentified Dyes. (Which have the chance at being a rare dye and were ~1g on the day of the announcement.)

Unid-ed Dyes dropped back to like 50 silver yesterday after everyone came to their senses and realized that there’s going to be a massive amount of new unid-ed dyes added to the supply on the 15th.

I’m sure they strategically released the dye information to have this effect. (Higher dye prices in-game results in more people buying them in the Gem Store.)

I predict common dye prices will plummet once again after the April 15th update and everyone gets a boat load of unidentified dyes for all the dyes on their alts.

I think the impending account bound status has caused the Lion’s Arch dyes to be cheaper on the TP than the other limited-time dyes.

I wouldn’t come to any conclusion yet. The market isn’t perfectly efficient and not everyone is perfectly informed. The patch is still a while away, and people aren’t sure of what’s going happen exactly, not everyone likes to speculate, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see an Abyss dye surge after the patch kicks in.

There’s a lot of variables at work here. There’s an offsetting effect from a lot of unid dyes coming into the market soon, but once that’s over, who knows? Dyes are mosre useful than before, and they made it very clear that they are going to make unids harder to come by.

A lot of uncertainty, with likely differing short, med and long-term effects. Because of that, I personally didn’t invest into this, and won’t be surprised if a lot of other investors didn’t invest into it other than reaping common dyes whilst their prices are low to get free unids either. A lot of the remaining players are likely not to really care, doesn’t really know what to make of this because of all the uncertainty, or just prefer not to buy dyes yet because they won’t have any use of it for a while and that gold is needed elsewhere.
