Q:
What is being done about the player(s) / guild(s) that are collectively unbalancing the economy system?
There are already enough posts about the economy itself. This is to find out what and how ArenaNet / Guild Wars 2 is going to handle and deal with players who intentionally drive the price of items (mostly Gems & Gold) up or down. Should that activity be reported? Under what title (Spamming, Selling Gold….?) should they be reported? Is it acceptable to seek players help to drive the cost of BLTC (Black Lion Trading Company) items up or down? Are these activities considered in-game fun? Does ArenaNet really make the money from the casual player who plays 40 hours a month and has hardly any gold to buy gems?
I was rather upset to read the chatter of a guild that was seeking help to “Upset” the economy. The goal apparently is to drive the price of gems up for the Wintersday event. I suspect this is to boost the players self-esteem as they clearly had it out for the “casual” player, as the chat then switched to the difference between a casual player and an elite / hard core player. Never the less there are clearly players out there that do not have good intent for the game or other players. An “Upset” of the economy system does not sound like something to take lightly.
Yes, this player was reported.

The only way for them to drive up the prices of gems for wintersday is to convert themselves thousands of gold into gems at the current price. Imo, if you wanna screw them, once that happens (and we see 100g for 2-3g), buy lots of gems and cash out. I wish I could do that though >.>
That person would be doing Arenanet a favor, causing your report to do absolutely nothing. If that person has gold, why is he not allowed to buy gems, whatever his intent may be, it is within the allowances of the game.
I think someone said in the BLT subforums, but you SERIOUSLY underestimate the size of the GW2 economy.
