Why can’t they make a Ectoplasm dagger?

Because Mesmer phantasms don’t wield daggers, which is where they are from.

Much like the spirit weapons and conjured weapons. The skins are replicas of ones conjured by skills.

Just curious which phantasm uses the Trident? Mirage is an ectoish trident skin.

Phant mariner = spear
illus whaler = harpoon gun
disenchanter = scepter
defender = shield

Am I missing one?

Never really pay attention, but what weapon does phantasm rogue use if it’s not dagger?(looks like thief’s heartseeker, so I always assume it’s dagger)

Duelist = pistol
Swordsman = sword
Berserker = Vision of the Mists
Warden = axe

But yeah, I can’t recall a trident skill.

Y’know… I actually don’t know. I think you might be right in that Mirage (and some of the other “ecto weapons”) aren’t used by any phantasm.

From the gw2 wiki under trivia (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Phantasm#Related_weapons):

“Spirit Links, The Anomaly, Illusion and Mirage are similar in style to the phantasm weapons.”

That line kind of implies that although similar, they aren’t actually phantasm weapons.

Interesting note: The Wall of the Mists (a shield) has been available since launch, and in HoT, Chronomancers will be able to wield it. The same goes for the long-bow spirit weapon “Aether” for Guardians.

It makes me wonder if axes (and spearguns) will be available for Mesmers in a future addition.

If it’s a unique “phantasmal-style” skin, then there is no reason why it shouldn’t be a skin in its own right. How strange!

I’ve tried finding a screen-shot or video of a phantasmal rogue (with a close up of the dagger) and I’m struggling. :P

Not really accurate. They dont have a phantasm wielding a focus for instance.

In fairness, I didn’t think there was a dagger-wielding phantasm either. It’s easily missed considering the phantasm that uses it is a downed-skill and is quite fleeting.

But in all fairness, it is still there none-the-less..

And they wield an Axe?

To not have a dagger skin due to ‘mesmer’ being the target of ALL of those skins…yet having an Axe…yea that makes all the sense :-)

The warden phant does infact dual wield axes…. As I stated befor the phantasm rogue does have a dagger (see the screenshot in this thread)

does it? Always through it was dual swords….can never really tell though always too busy killing stuff :-)

Well the warden phant uses that ranger offhand axe whirling defense style move no? So it makes sense to give him an axe.

Well, I still want a staff and torch skin, so my mesmer can have every weapon a mesmer can wield all phantasmaly
