Ele & thief main (full ascended)
Down with the braindead faceroll classes.
I’ve been gone for a while from gw2, and after a long update proportional to how long I haven’t played, I found this new content thing: the edge of the mists.
I thought it was a fractal patch, but I was wrong.
What do you guys think so far? I must say that I absolutely love maps done in this fashion. Guild wars 2 could use more fantasy-based and unrealistic environments, especially when most of the action always takes place in generic green forests.
I hope we get more maps like this in the future.
Definitely one of the most beautiful areas I’ve been in.
One of the few places that gives me that old " GW1 feel".
They’ve done a great job with it!
As far as i heard everyone loves it including me.EoTM its really amazing,it gives u different feeling wile playing game. Some places reminds me a little on “fallout” game.I heard people been coming back to GW2 just cause they been amazed by this map. Some other people that never liked WvW now really enjoys in EoTM.All i can say more is GREAT JOB Arena Net,finally permanent content that is really well done.
I didn’t really enter the map yet. I really should do that soon, though.
I like it.
In particular I like:-
Resets every 4 hours.
Don’t after ‘worry’ about point scoring.
The PvE parts are good.
The mix of abilities, all 3 sides different.
A ‘little’ bit more rewarding than normal WvW.
The only part that annoys me is fighting in the observatory. Due to the particle effects you can’t see those circles of nothing, so its real easy to walk off and plunge to your doom.
So far no ones knocked me off a edge but I have walked/jumped off a edge about a dozen times now, mainly due to particle effects covering up the big hole in front of me…
far too zergy to be any real fun IMO.
Its got nice map design though.
I really appreciate the look and feel of this area. I was initially a bit annoyed by it, since it was meant to solve the issue of people waiting in eternal queues….. only to be completely inaccessible when it launched. Everyone was waiting for it to get fixed, which is exactly the opposite of what it was trying to achieve. I know that sounds unfair, but that was my initial reaction.
However, now that it IS up and running, it’s fairly enjoyable. They even mixed in some Crystal Desert references from GW1, which feels very nostalgic. I don’t think adding Living Story elements into it is a very good way to force people to give it a try. It has kind of soured my opinion of it all. But game play wise, I like all the bridges and platforming short cuts.
What I don’t like:
The map it self is great. Whats holding is back is the kitten s who come on it to zerg. There are zergs everywhere. I think they could add anti zerg mechanics to this map and it will be great. Limit the over all pop 50 players per side per overflow. If more then 10 players in one area they all get spotted and everyone on the map can see thier location. Along with that a debuff that scales down thier stats by X%
Come on anet. Dont destroy this beautiful map.
I liked it for 10 minutes.
Then the super zergs rolled in.
My biggest issue is the dozens of 800m bridge chokepoints, which makes solo roaming impossible because everyone on map has to pass through these areas and you can’t run away from an incoming group.
Start of this map was terrible, I wasn’t able to go there first day at all.
Next day I went there and I wanted to go for the golem parts. When I went behind the first wall I was killed by zerg group. I tried to use second route and it was the same.
Two days later I tried it again with one group of players and we done it. During one fight another player killed the mob while I was leaping on it, I lost focus and ended on some lower place dead and when 2 players came to revive me, we weren’t able to go back and we had to start from the beginning.
Later that day I wanted to try the “bucket” achievement, but when I went to the first place there was going big zerg group on me again. I left the map and I don’t know if I want to return.
This map looks interesting and different then the others, but it’s just another WvW map from my point of view.
Yeah zergs are pretty pathetic. But I mean the fortress gates and other npcs basically need a zerg otherwise you can’t succeed. It should be the other way around where more people = less damage to structures or enemy champions, that way people would be encouraged to run in small groups.
Do people really enjoy those kind of fights? I’m tired of encountering lone losers that simply try to ignore me as I attack them so they can catch up wherever their zerg is. It’s really sad. They ignore the pvp portion and try to pve (take structures) 24/7 in a pvp map.
They just need to implement a GvG system already. Maybe one day EOTM will be that…otherwise i see no point of EOTM
It’s beautiful and one of the best maps in game! It could manage to get me into WvW a little actually, despite I got such a feeling of hate towards it once I realized I was forced to complete EB and borderlands for map completion…
I love this map! The sheer variety of terrain, the multi-level aspects of the map, the new types of siege, environmental effects, tons of intrinsic and extrinsic rewards, the fun! Small havoc teams now have tools to smash zergs, PPT is fairly meaningless, it’s just all so fresh
I have officially moved into EotM until Season 2 or until ArenaNet incorporates some aspects of EotM into WvW proper.
Hate it!!! please get it off my game
