Hi

I run GW2 on these settings and these settings.

CPU: i7-4790k@4.6 Ghz
GPU: EVGA GTX 970 4GB

Usually I sit around 60-70 fps most of the time in WvW. If I unmark Effect LOD though I drop all the way down to 20-30. I’d really like to have it unmarked but since it’s causing me a tremendous fps drops I cannot do this and I have to keep it marked which prevents me from seeing important enemy crowd control effects like wards of lining, static fields, veils, et.c, et.c.

Anything that can be done here? Appreciate all help =) I just wanna be able to see more crowd control effects and not red rings only

Cheers

From what I understand, Effect LOD bottlenecks particle/bloom effects, which are very costly to render. Ticking Effect LOD prevents the majority of these particles from rendering – and those are often the only indication of which skill a “red ring” is. It would be awesome if Anet could add some kind of texture indicator to the AoE for these large fights where rendering particles is an immense clientside strain.

I’m not sure there’s anything you can personally do to improve this. Are you able to leave Effect LOD at its default setting if you move Character Model Quality to low?

If it makes you feel any better, effect details are almost as confusing as having no clues at all. Big fights can quickly turn into a big blue/purple/firey blur.

QFT. At least half the time I can’t even see the world bosses during events… just a big sparkly fireworks show in the center of the crowd.
